Interesting how something so simple as pizza can generate such keen interest from cruisers. 4 pages worth of comments in just over a month. You'd think someone said you weren't allowed to wear shorts while eating it or something... :2_grimacing:

Have you been reading CC threads? Cause that was a serious issue two weeks ago lol

I tried the pizza MANY times on Freedom last week, and it was pretty darn awful most of the time.  I did manage to go there once when it had come right out of the oven, and that was the closest it's come to edible.  One time after closing the casino, the cheese pizza was basically rubber from top to bottom so I am guessing that had been "aging" a while...

I wish there was something else open overnight, because when I'm on a cruise, I don't have a bedtime!  Even if it were pre-packaged wraps or sandwiches that you could just grab from a cooler somewhere.

But yeah, Sorrentos is a 1/2 star in my book at best.

I believe Café Promenade is opened 24 hrs.  They have the small sandwiches/wraps and desserts.

How on earth did I miss that? LOL  I  didn't see it and I was pretty diligent in looking at everything Deck 5 had to offer!

That's another reason to book another cruise!  Same ship, new experiences!!

They have muffins, Danish, fruits and coffee in the mornings as well.  If you have an early shore excursion and need a quick bite, this is the perfect venue and it's close to the gangway.

We tried Sorrento's again on the Allure (for science).  I have to say, it wasn't gluey at all.  I mean, it still wasn't good, but at least it was on par with frozen pizza.  It reminded me slightly of Totinos party pizza (not the rolls, the little kids pizzas).  It had a somewhat flakey quality to it.

At this point, I think something was just plain wrong with the Majesty's pizza.  It literally tasted like they used Elmer's school glue as the sauce.  The Allure's pizza was actually edible.

I must say the gluten-free Sorrento's on Freedom was actually the best gluten-free pizza I have ever had. (When the toppings stayed on lol) Maybe not the best pizza I have ever had but was actually pretty damn good. Maybe its because I'm used to terrible gluten-free pizza now but I thought it was good. Maybe someone should give it a gluten-free a try and compare to regular Sorrento's pizza maybe that's the key to a decent Sorrento's lol.

I gave Sorrentos a try last night.  I have to say, that is not what I call pizza.  I am by no means a pizza snob but the pizza in the school that I teach in is better than Sorrentos.  My last cruise was on a Carnival and they made small personal pizzas on request.  They flattened the small dough ball, spread the sauce and put the fixings on top, put it in the conveyor and out the other side comes your personal sized pizza.  I am not comparing the rest of Carival to RC but dang it, the pizza should be better on RC.

I have never read so many bad reviews about pizza anywhere before.  They much be using drunk monkeys going through withdrawal while working on a one legged stool.  My apologies to the monkeys.

I am disappointed,  I really like pizza and I was looking forward to this.  That and pretzels.

But you make it inside out.  The cheese is supposed to be on top of the sauce.

When I have to work in NYC, I stay in Islandia and take the train in.  Where is the best pizza place nearest the Hyatt Regency?

I’m a born and bred New Jerseyan, enjoying good pizza is in my blood. I want to thank everyone here for the multiple warnings about Sorrentos. I’ll be sure to avoid it, as having it might lead me to swear off ever cruising again, and that would be a Bad Thing.

We vacation with friends from NJ once or twice each year, Florida, SC, NC beaches. Every week we spend together they always have to have at least one pizza night. We truly love these people but secretly DREAD pizza night. We have never found edible pizza according to those two, even though my wife and I have been satisfied with the selection every time. Our friends use the colorful NJ dialect to describe the pizza every time. But that being said.... there are never any leftovers. My wife and I are  going on Oasis in two weeks. We may give Sorento's a try but not high on the priority list.

I have had the most fun reading this thread.... I hope I'm not late for work!!
