  1. I think it is reasonable for the OP to have expected to have real crab meat. No doubt it will not be the same quality as getting crab cakes at a nice MD restaurant but one would at-least expect to have real crab meat in a crab cake. The other seafood you have to be careful about is when ordering scallops at land based restaurants. Many pass off skate as scallops and skate is chewy and tasteless. Perfectly cooked scallops will practically melt in your mouth.
  2. Buying the drink package in advance allowed me to not even think about the money I was or was not spending. In the past without a drink package, was was constantly tracking my expenditures which completely changes my relaxation level and I wasn't willing to try new drinks. With the drink package, I was free to try any drink they could make without worry. If I didn't like it, I just got another one. Between the bottled waters, sodas, specialty coffee and alcohol, I was free to enjoy my trip knowing it was all covered.
  3. My daughter and wife decided to do the day trip to Disney last week. We sailed on the Anthem so the times are probably the same as you will have. Leave the boat around noon and back about 8 or 9PM. My daughter considered it a wasted day. Time lost with travel, a downpour and very long waits for rides. They got on 2 rides, visited 2 Princesses and it was about time to leave. If you already have the free tickets, then I can see going. I am out about $350 for a trip to Disney that my daughter thinks was a waste of time. I stayed on the boat and had a wonderful father/son dinner at Izumi.
  4. Update: we were able to dock in Nassau. The day has been partially saved. Looks like a good day to walk the town and shop. Excursions are scheduled for tomorrow.
  5. They cancelled CocoCay. I think it was obvious it would be cancelled, rough seas and boat was rocking all night and morning. The captain still made a show of it, driving the ship straight towards the island so we could get a glimpse of untouchable paradise but I have a sneaking suspicion he knew we would not be making go of it before sunrise. The captain made the announcement that we are on our way to Nassau. 2 weeks ago, they did this and there was no room to dock, I have a feeling we will get this announcement again when we arrive and they already know we will have no where to dock. I am getting frustrated at this point.

  7. Coco Cay in the morning. I have a few more questions. We have an excursion planned for Coco Cay. Can we go down anytime we want to catch a ride over to the island? Once on the island, can you return to the ship during the day and then go back to the island again?
  8. I gave Sorrentos a try last night. I have to say, that is not what I call pizza. I am by no means a pizza snob but the pizza in the school that I teach in is better than Sorrentos. My last cruise was on a Carnival and they made small personal pizzas on request. They flattened the small dough ball, spread the sauce and put the fixings on top, put it in the conveyor and out the other side comes your personal sized pizza. I am not comparing the rest of Carival to RC but dang it, the pizza should be better on RC.
  9. I am guessing all excursions for the island are also refunded?
  10. I am keeping my fingers crossed. About 80 degrees with only 20% chance of rain.
  11. RC has to cancel excursions to Coco Cay sometimes due to weather conditions. My itinerary has us at Coco Cay on Tuesday. The forecasted winds are 19 mph from the NE. Is this enough wind to cause choppy seas leading to RC cancelling or am I over-reacting? I know they cancelled the Coco Cay excursions on the Anthem during the prior week. What were the weather conditions on that day?
  12. When RC gives you the option to upgrade to a junior suite, do they give you a set time to make your decision, like 24 hours, or is it a take it right now deal? Also, if they offer the upgrade for $500, has anyone ever countered with a lower offer successfully :)? Just curious.
  13. Sorry your trip is almost over. I know the weather might be completely different when we sail on the 24th but I am starting to think about the packing process. Of the days you traveled, how many of the days would you say were shorts and t-shirt type weather?
  14. Short answer-YES Long answer-YYYYYYYEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSS
  15. I'm down 10 lbs with three more to go. I am going to be a glutinous PIG! I sail on the 24th. No alcohol for 4 weeks, no candy and smaller portions of food. Funny thing is, when I cut the sugars out of my diet and reduced my carb intake, I no longer get those overwhelming hunger pains when I am hungry. The first week was miserable. I should cruise more often!
  16. Quote from my wife, "are you doing this so you can be a guilt free gluttonous pig drunkard?" Uh, yeah!
  17. I would have put Johnny Rockets on the list but I have heard their milkshakes are not the real deal you would find on the mainland. I am with you about the extra cost but I got a pretty good deal with the first 2 nights @ $40 a person. I will only be dining in the specialty restaurants 2 times, I am good to go dining in the MDR the rest of the time.
  18. What order of rank would you put each of these restaurants as your own personal preference? Feel free to add reasons. Chops Grill Jamie's Italian Wonderland Izumi Japanese Cuisine Solarium Bistro (evening) If ranking all 5 is too difficult, think about if you could only pick 2 for your cruise. Which 2 would you choose and why?
  19. What are the coffee options on Anthem of the Seas? My wife a daughter prefer the Starbucks types of coffee options. In other words, it's not really coffee any more after adding all o the goodies. We have the drink package that covers everything. We are staying at the front of the ship so I am looking to chart out my best path path to get them good wake-up coffee every morning.
  20. When I booked this trip for my family of 4 many moons ago, I signed up for a Crown and Anchor account and I received a membership number. I don't remember how the membership number was relayed to me but I have one. When I was filling out Online Check-in information, I noticed a step to enter the Crown and Royal Account number for each member of my travelling party. So I paused the Online Checkin process and went to the Crown and Anchor site and registered my wife and 2 kids for accounts. I even used their private email accounts to set up their personal C & A accounts. I can now log into their individual C & A accounts but I cannot find their membership number. How am I supposed to get these numbers? One would think it would be generated instantly.
  21. So I am guessing that we have to be out of our room earlier but still remain on the ship? Sorry, I am one of those newbies.
  22. I didn't realize it was that late, that's great, I was worried we would have to roll out as early as 7AM. That raises another question, what is the typical earliest boarding time to start the cruise?
  23. My cruise ends on March 31, 2018. The ship is supposed to arrive at Cape Liberty, NJ by 6AM. What time do we have to depart the ship? Is breakfast available on the ship on that morning?
