Joe01 Posted December 5, 2019 Report Posted December 5, 2019 I see that it hasn't been reported here but from what I've read on CC, Royal have withdrawn Jewel from Dubai for the 2020/21 season. Can't say that it was surprising, some cruises were selling for less than $200 per person from what I remember. Even a student could easily afford that. Thoughts? Where do you think that Jewel will be going now? NOTE: this does not affect the current Dubai season. Quote
mworkman Posted December 5, 2019 Report Posted December 5, 2019 Bring Jewel back to do the Southern Caribbean 10 & 11 night sailings, push Vision off to doing the NE/Canada from Boston or Panama Canal passages to San Diego and back from Florida. RWDW1204, bhageerah and Baked Alaska 3 Quote

No chance of Vision doing NE/Canada at Winter. Fort Lauderdale for Jewel is a good shout though and Vision going elsewhere. Quote

Having sailed in the Med in October, there is no way that a ship could do a winter there. Europe is freezing at this time of year and a lot of chances of rain. Quote

I have a deposit down for Allure next October but I'm waffling. Quote

And here i was thinking i was going to have a bunch of sleepless nights, wondering if my suggestion were worthy of RCI's operations planning. Now if they would just pay me what i'm worth! On second thought...just let me cruise for free RWDW1204, WAAAYTOOO, deep1 and 2 others 5 Quote

The only problem was the weather - Oasis Class just aren't designed for colder climates. We were on Harmony (her last Med cruise before the TA) and the Boardwalk was closed for a while on the at sea day due to rain. I say go for it but do be mindful of the weather. berkeleykel 1 Quote

It was sunny, but two of the days were very chilly (like 3C). We still had a great time, but wore a lot of layers those days berkeleykel 1 Quote
coneyraven Posted December 6, 2019 Report Posted December 6, 2019 I wonder if she could come back --- perhaps New Orleans could be in play since nothing is scheduled past '21 Personally, I'd love to see Jewel in Baltimore and send Enchantment to Nola. It would be a win for both areas. USCG Teacher and Sweety 2 Quote

Jjohnb Posted December 6, 2019 Report Posted December 6, 2019 I'm not sure if safety is still an issue with the Mexican west coast ports but if not, it would be a great ship to startup the Mexican Riviera run from LA or San Diego. Quote
The Cruise Junkie Posted December 7, 2019 Report Posted December 7, 2019 I Think Due To Her Having Pretty Frequent Summer Calls In The Cayman Islands That It Probably Means She Will Be Replacing Brilliance Of The Seas In Tampa For The Summer. I Think I Royal Will Probably Do This Due To MSC Bring One Of There Ship To Tampa In 2021. Quote
Zebb Posted December 25, 2019 Report Posted December 25, 2019 As posted elsewhere. Ref our cruise from Dubai to Med in March 2021 on Jewel. We knew it had been pulled but weirdly our cruise planner now says we are still booked on Jewel on same dates but travelling from Galveston to Barcelona. No such cruise shown on the cruise search though. Could therefore well be sailing out of Galveston for next winter? Quote
Big Tule Posted January 9, 2020 Report Posted January 9, 2020 We are booked on Jewel for 12 nights in the baltics in July 27 if that helps Quote
KenCP Posted January 9, 2020 Report Posted January 9, 2020 @berkeleykel Europe in October is great. I did Vision last season and the weather was great. Crowds are not as big in a lot of the cities, great time of the year to go. Some days the weather in some ports hit 98f or 38c. A great trip. Allure would be a great trip in the Med as well. berkeleykel 1 Quote

steverk Posted January 9, 2020 Report Posted January 9, 2020 I just stopped by next cruise and can confirm that jewel will be in Galveston December 2020 for a few months at least. They even gave me a price on January 2, 2021 9 day sailing. I asked about March and they had it laid out but not finalized. WAAAYTOOO 1 Quote
