I can see a lot of the locals that don't have money invested in travel plans canceling for the offered full refund, so perhaps that will luck some into upgrades. It’s not the ship or itinerary I’d have chosen without Cuba but a cruise is still a cruise and that 800 refund will cover a sizable chunk of our next cruise’s spending money!! Jane Thanks. I am absolutely going. This was a cruise I got thru MyVegas. With the 50% OBC they are paying me almost $1000 to go on the cruise. Most amazing thing that has happened to me in a long time.

KLA
I guess one thing I'm sort of thinking... I saw that once the announcement came out yesterday, our itinerary was swapped from Havana and Cienfuegos to Costa Maya and Cozumel. We're definitely still going. That said, since we're still ahead of final payment I wonder if we'll see cancellations and subsequent price drops that will make this a bit more affordable. Definitely still looking forward to my cruise and my first time on Empress - and to taking my mom and cousin to Nachi Cocom! mom2mybugs and Orange Crush

FYI I had $250 in OBC through this Vegas comp game app as well, $150 I cashed in comps for and an extra $100 they gave me for lying to me about their policies that I kept giving them a Royal load of @#^$ about ... TL;DR is re-route to Costa Maya, refund of booked Cuba excursions to OBC and 50% stateroom cost refund as OBC, unused OBC refunded to your CC Curious how you booked a cruise using your points AND cashed OBC for the same cruise? twangster
So instead of making lemonade out of one lemon, I decided more lemonade was in order so I made it a B2B on Majesty. 50% off the second leg and pretty decent fares on the 1st leg. Cozumel, Puerto Maya, Key West and Nassau. Saved $50 by luck on Southwest for these dates. Gotta luv no change fees. Weaselpuppy
Still going on Mondsy on Majesty; Nassau we have seen twice but Teenagers haven't, Coco Cay is essentially a beach day for us, waterpark day for Teenagers and no one but me has been to Key West and are hyped for it...disappointed but ok with it too, overall, though if we got the Carnival shafting ($100 OBC, intinerary change, sorry boutcha luck!) I would flip out. Still going to be a good vacation and celebration of Teenager's Salutatorian achievement and admission into Aeronautical/Astro Engineering at Univ. Of Michigan, full ride, fast track program where they pay her $3k cash and priority paid internships on top of full ride. Get that youngster to love studying! This cruise was the carrot! MrMarc
Wow. Norwegian is giving 50% obc and 50% FCC. But their math is sometimes pretty strange. But it looks like rccl did better than carnival but not ac good as Ncl

I got back last week. It was a problem. Club Royale said one thing, Customer service/relations said only 1/2 of the discounted rate. After hours of phone calls from the ship to the shoreside team (who confirmed the amount only to reverse their decision 2 hours later) and a meeting (at their request, not mine) with the onboard Customer Service manager, Casino Manager, Casino Host and another casino officer and another hour plus phone call on speaker phone to Club Royale, it was fixed. Again, it is frustrating, thinking that they MUST have had several MyVegas folks on by now. Are there THAT many customer service people rotating on & off that this situation is like a "surprise" to them every time? And apparently no memo / discussion to the customer service staff, concerning how to deal w/ this situation w/out the customer having to spend hours prior and on their cruise (and after, for some), simply getting what they promised from the get-go? MrMarc
They have so many different teams, that sometimes they are not all on the same team. They need a notifications or communications team to be sure that all new information get disseminated to the all of the necessary teams and/or can resolve any conflicting information. BeatArmy2010
We were on one of the Empress cruises this fall because we wanted to see Cuba. We decided not to go even withe 50% off they were offering. I keep looking at a world map and see how little I've experienced. I had booked non-refundable flight to MIA on AA. The return flights were on SW. So, I started to look at what we could or we could fly to that we haven't been to before or was too good a deal to pass up. So now we are flying to SXM and we can see the people on Maho Beach. We are going to do some diving and either take the ferry or a commuter flight to St Bart's, (it has been a bucket list item to see the planes land at St Bart's )... We are also looking at going to Saba if time permits. I was thinking about getting travel insurance since we are not spring chickens anymore. After reading Twangsters blog, I was wondering if there were anymore / other insurance recommendations. We are rafting in the Grand Canyon in a few weeks... I tend towards adventurous activities sometimes.
