10 days ago I had a one day connection in Hong Kong , due to the current situation there I decided to take a ferry to Macau . I found out that they ban smoking in the casinos few month ago. Let's see the revenue impact if at all as if in Macau they can stop casino smoking successfuly they can for sure do it on RCL ships.
Wow ! I can’t imagine non smoking being very successfully anywhere is Asia and particularly in Macau ! Almost all men smoke from what I remember. It’s been a few years but - WOW. Very interesting.

As far as I am aware, CK for JS has always been “space available”. I love the extra space and walk-in closet (most ships) of a JS and the double points. If I want a guaranteed seat in CK for breakfast and dinner, I book a GS or higher. I personally find it distasteful to beg to be allowed into the CK. Half the time you have to bang at the door to even be let in. No thanks. If I want in, I will pay to be there with no questions asked or limitations.

I personally feel like the menu has gone downhill quite a bit. They took away the TUNA tacos, they took away the queso Fondido. For 30.00 worth of tex mex food you better have more than chicken quesadillas......
So let me comment on the queso fundido at Sabor since I am the one who rang the alarm so often on its removal. It seems that they changed the name from queso fundido to queso fondue and made it a smaller portion. We had it 2 nights ago at Sabor on Liberty. It was good but a very small portion. If you like queso fundido I recommend you order 2 portions of queso fondue. I will agree with marti about the chicken quesadilla. Really disappointing and to be completely honest, it was like a flat, skinny queso fundido !

I've only cruised 3 times on RC. Booked on my 4th in September (Liberty sept 22-29, 2019). Question for more experienced cruisers. I know when you have a set time for dining you have a set table. But when you have MTD do you have a set table? When we were on Adventure last year, we were seated in the same area every time but had a different waiter and different table each time. Also, I know you can make reservations but do you know how far ahead or how late you can make them, such as can you make them 2 hrs before you want to eat? The reason I am asking is because I may not want to eat in the MDR every night. My mom and I are more of a Buffet type people. But we enjoy going to the MDR at least 3 nights. Windjammer question. Will they tell us which night he "Spicy" food will be out, because we don't like spicy food.
With MTD you can eat any time. You can make reservations any time or make no reservations at all and just show up when you’re ready to eat. If you want to keep the same table and/or waiters, they will do their best to accommodate you but sometimes that’s just not possible - especially if you choose random times to dine. They will try though. They’re very good with this sort of thing.
I have always found the servers to be very helpful in identifying foods that are spicy. Just ask !

How flexible are reservations with the 3 night dining package? and does it have to be used in 3 different restaurants?
As long as you use one of your nights on day 1 or 2 it’s very flexible. You can sometimes get an exception even from that rule. You can eat in any of the eligible restaurants or you can eat at the same one all 3 nights. Whatever you want to do.

they offer a breakfast in the morning, snakes throughout the day and a great social event for 3 hours in the evening with drinks and appetizers
I haven’t noticed any free snakes so far but the O class ships offer snacks throughout the day. On non-Oasis Class ships the snacks are limited to a few hours in the morning and at the happy hours around dinner time. I’ll keep my eyes open for the snakes though. I will want to know if anyone else sees them.

Before we turned 65 our medical coverage would have covered incidents outside of the US but Medicare does not. We have the Allianz AllTrips Premier plan that covers both travel-related delays/cancellations and medical emergency and evacuations. We just don’t feel comfortable leaving the country without protection. It is expensive but very comprehensive so we are delighted to have it, pay for it and never need it.

We are on Liberty now. Nothing much to report since we’ve only been under way for about an hour. James McDonald is Capt, Marco Roko is the Chief Engineer, Adrian Theodore is the Hotel Director and Jeffrey Arpin is the Cruise Director. No mention of who the Activities Director is. We were slightly delayed in boarding this morning. I think we finally boarded at about 11:15. The Captain mentioned the weather disturbance in the east but said it’s unlikely to affect us. Everything’s going great so far. I’ll let you know if anything of interest develops. We had lunch in Chops (UDP) and found out that Chops on LIB no longer serves red velvet cake but as soon as he said that, I recalled that they didn’t have it last year either. The server said that they still offer it in the MDR on formal night but not at Chops anymore. . The cheesecake was pretty darned good though !
Adriana is the Suites Concierge. I have not met her before but we’re heading to the SL now to give her a list of dinner plans for the rest of the week. She has been very attentive so far (by mail) so I think I will like her. Sabor for dinner (sans the queso fundido, unfortunately).

We sailed out of Galveston on Liberty about 15 mins ago. While we are on a Western Caribbean ititn, our Captain (James McDonald) did mention the weather disturbance out east and said that it will likely become a hurricane at some point. It is unlikely to affect us, however. Those with eastern Caribbean itins will likely be affected.

You can always get a table for 2. The problem is, some of the tables for 2 are so close together that you might as well be sitting with 4-6 of your closest friends. It can be done though. Just tell the maitre d’ that you want a table for 2. You will never be seated with “strangers” in specialty dining.

Correct. There hasn’t been a Portofinos on a Royal Caribbean ship in MANY years - unfortunately.

Welcome aboard !

No, the Concierge is normally not on duty during embarkation. He/she should begin working around 4:00-4:30. My recommendation is to ask for whatever reservations you want when the Concierge reaches out to you prior to the cruise - usually 5 days prior to cruise day. That is really your best opportunity to coordinate with the Concierge prior to boarding.

This is very tempting as well, thanks for the recommendation. How did you get back to MCO, and how much?
Yeah, I guess I left that part out, didn’t I ?
We just take the Royal Caribbean shuttle back to the airport. I think it’s $37.50 PP. it’s the only time we ever use the Roal shuttle.

I know Dr. Who but I've never heard of Battle of the Planets or Star Blazers !

That's an excellent question. There seems to be wide confusion regarding how and when Royal assigns cabanas. My guess (and that's all it is...) is that if you book the cabanas at the same time they will assign them together. I would suggest that you check immediately upon boarding to see if you can influence this decision. I feel like they will accommodate you but who knows....

Mr. Peabody. LOL I'll bet I am the only person on this blog who is old enough to remember Mr. Peabody and Sherman.
How sad is that....

I loved the Aquarium bar. I was sorry to hear that they removed the aquarium.

I just like jewelry. Not really an investment for a ROI. As it turns out, I have purchased wisely as my jewelry appraises for well over double what I paid for it (for insurance purposes) but I don’t buy jewelry to make money. I buy jewelry because I love sparkly things ! Kinda like a crow that way, I guess !
