SweetPea Posted January 6 Author Report Posted January 6 Today we just went to the Solarium where Batman and i voted them the most uncomfortable chairs on the island. We had no issues finding seats though, so there is that. We had to contact Rafa today because our upstairs toilet was very anemic. Normally we yell FIRE IN THE HOLE! because ship toilets are robust and loud, but ours was doing quite the opposite, i called it a microflush. On a Norwegian cruise once, sometimes you'd flush and then 10 minutes later it would. So we played the waiting game first but nada. To give you an idea, it would take about 5 micro-flushes to get down a small amount of TP. So they came and fixed it, or so they said. But it was actually fixed for only one flush and then it was worse than before. So they just got done fixing it a second time and i think they did it this time. Batman said they replaced all the innards so here's hoping! Also i had a blowout today and this may or may not have happened Dinner tonight at Giovanni’s for Batman's birthday. Yum! SweetPea Posted January 7 Author Report Posted January 7 Last night we saw a comedian. I wish i could tell you he was funny, but Batman and i do not remember a single joke and it was only 10pm. Shots did not start until midnight for Batman's birthday. These were our seats. Batman has photos after midnight that .... well .... you can tell I'm not exactly sober. And the worst of it is that i remember asking him to take them. They were me standing next to signs that say "just breathe" and "all we have is now." This is after the first shot at midnight when i declared Happy Hour for everyone at the pub in honor of his birthday. They have many more Orchestra options than I can recall on any cruise we have taken. We will walk from one corner of the ship to the other to see them. The house band (Iconic) is the unknown. If they are good, we will follow them. That would be a great fit, because the Quantum class Music Hall dance floor is the best within RCL. If not, we will end up in Borelos for most of the cruise. SweetPea Posted January 7 Author Report Posted January 7 Good morning. It's 7am ... i think. It could be 8am here, IDK. I know the clocks went an hour ahead, but i have no idea if my phone kept up or not. The Royal app says it's 7, but who knows if that is correct already. Anyway, I'm awake, but not up (there is a difference), but Batman is definitely not awake so I'm using this as an opportunity to fill you in on dinner at Giovanni’s. First of all, this bread .... I really wanted to shove the whole thing in my mouth, but for the sake of everyone around us, i excercised restraint. It's about the only exercise I'm getting this cruise. And yes, that's Batman with his wrist against a cold water glass. It's always warm in restaurants on ships and that's a hack he uses to cool down. I do it also. It works. Rafa offered us a nice view of a lifeboat again. We were laughing because none of the restaurants offer a nice view. (To be clear, this isn't a complaint). But it is one thing that Norwegian does infinitely better. Can't beat the Waterfront. We shared the meat and cheese plate and the stromboli. I'm family famous for my homemade stromboli, and Gio's didn't pass muster. We were both disappointed. Next time we're getting the giant meatball. The couple next to us ordered it. We got to chatting with them about it. We literally waited until they received theirs to see it before we could leave. Batman thinks we can cut the meatball in half and use the bread to make sliders. We may order Gio's to the room on our last night to do just that. Batman got the 7 cheese pizza. Our server warned him that there's brie and gorganzola in it (i did want to say that we may look dumb, but we can read a menu with the best of them). I guess they get complaints. But somehow the combo worked, because we here at Team Batman & SweetPea aren't fans of brie normally, but this was great. I opted for the lasagne. I was full after a few bites but this was amazing and i couldn't stop eating it. I already know I'm ordering it again. I never order dessert (i tend to drink my calories on a ship. Shut up. Don't act all surprised). I tried the chocolate ravioli. It wasn't worth the calories. I didn't get a pic of that (apologies to @OCSC Mike) Ampurp85, Jax, MaryS and 6 others 8 1 Quote

OCSC Mike Posted January 7 Report Posted January 7 15 minutes ago, SweetPea said: I tried the chocolate ravioli. It wasn't worth the calories. That's our favorite dessert, lol. Vanilla ice cream on the side. We actually booked GK lunches for our next 2 cruises b/c they were $14.99pp during BF and my wife mostly just wants more of the dessert ravioli and chocolate banana dessert stromboli. I like every dessert on the menu so I think I'll be taking some back to the cabin (I've learned saran wrap over any dessert in a glass like tiramisu or panna cotta or something my wife loves at Mason Jar holds up pretty well). Haven't tried the normal stromboli and think I'll pass. We've had dinner there twice. 1st time we got normal apps (meat plank, calamari, etc), pasta, filet, etc. Then learned we love the desserts. 2nd time we wanted to try the pizza so that was our apps, lol. I enjoyed it but kinda heavy as an app. So I think lunch is going to be pizza time along with apps and desserts going forward. Dinner will be more entrees. Our last server insisted I had to try the osso bucco even though I was already ordering filet and it was better than the filet. My wife gets chicken parm and filet... a classic paring. Yes it's 8am and I'm rambling about lunch and dinner plans for cruises 5-6 months away. Lastly, I can't believe you're up before 8am! I was thinking "maybe she is just now getting to bed." SweetPea Posted January 7 Author Report Posted January 7 And I'm not lying about the cruise couple we're trying to help along. As of last night, he was still hopeful, and things seem to be progressing. I filled them in on the Batmanless Blog and i got their permission to post these. There aren't a lot of younger folks on this cruise. I've been complaining to Batman that if we go anywhere public pre-10pm, I'm sitting in a sea of farts. Seriously, it's a problem here. I'm reminded of my student teaching days where you knew someone cut one because the kids would pull their shirts over their noses. I've been tempted to do that 42 times in 2 nights. It's bad. My point is, if you're young and single, pickings are slim this cruise, so i wish them well! Also, there may or may not be a video of my excitement that the pub musician actually knew Tipsy by Shaboozey when i requested it. I'll have to ask our favorite bartender later. that one! asquared17, CravingaCruise, Cactus527 and 7 others 7 3 Quote
SweetPea Posted January 7 Author Report Posted January 7 That took a lot out of me. I think I'll nap. Rafa and i are doing iFly at 3pm. Batman isn't doing it. Rafa offered to fill in for him.
