High praise indeed! I’ll be on CocoCay 3 weeks from today… that cheesesteak will not be on my menu.

Don’t sweat missing the chicken sandwich. It’s very good & I like the basil mayo or whatever they put on it but it’s still just a chicken sandwich.

Hope game one of the NLDS doesn’t interfere with your Saturday plans too much. OC had a big road win last night as the Phils were coasting & are closing in on being the 2 seed (just ahead of Philly ironically). Good time for sports for me but I’m now realizing late October wasn’t the best time to squeeze in an extra cruise, lol.

Nassau today. Ran up and threw some waffles and french toast on a plate and brought them back  for everyone to pick on while we got ready. Pulled up aside Carinval celebration and Mariner. Was cool to see Mariner in person for the first time since we sailed her in 05.

Bought the blue lagoon beach break with lunch a few months back, the worst part of the whole experience was waiting to get on the ferry...they make you stand along the pier with hundred of others with zero cover, and it was HOT out there. And I'm a very pale, very ginger fella...beating sun is not my favorite thing. Once we got on the boat, the ride was about 20 minutes or so...saw some celebrity mansions then pulled into the island.  Found a lounger pretty easily on the beach to the right, near the dolphin encounter area. Then I walked with the boy from the water in front of us all the way to the right, where the water turns REALLY blue and lots of fish to see with the snorkel mask. Lunch was a basic beach lunch, but nice. You choose a burger, dog,or grilled chicken then you can get fries, piece of bbq chicken AND corn on the cob as sides. So I had a burger, fries and bbq chicken. Little man had the dog and fries..hot dogs were like foot longs,so it filled him up. Free drink choices were lemonade, fruit punch or iced tea. Once again, the heat (and the multiple wines and margaritas the previous nights) got to the wife and she didn't want to eat,so I gave her ticket to a very appreciative couple from the carnival ship that I overheard complaining about not having lunch included with their excursion.  Oh yeah...bought two bottles of water on the island for 9 frickin dollars. So I see why they were complaining.

Got back to the port but didn't have a ton of time left, so really didn't get to explore the newly renovated port. But the stuff we saw just walking from end to end was definitely nice. Looks like they did a really good job.

Had dinner..Italian night! Lasagna was MUCH bigger than last time, like a very big chunk.  Chicken parm was chicken parm...I love it no matter what. My theory at any diner is if they mess up chicken parm, I'm not coming back.  Then remember at like 615 that we had laser tag reserved for 630,so the kid and myself ran out of thr dining room up one level to the ice rink. I'm so glad we did that this time because it was SO much more fun than I expected. Ask the group of 9 year olds I kept lighting up...I was really into it.

Crazy quest tonight..haven't experienced it ever before,so looking forward to it.

Oh boy... you may come away with your own undergarment story. Enjoy!

Tell that to my wife. She loves chicken parm but oh boy does it have to made her way (crispy, not soggy, minimal sauce or preferably on the side, etc.)

Yes...I did. Lol. By the end I had no shoe laces, no belt and ended up dancing in my boxers on the floor. Oh..and might have crawled around barking at one point,as well. That was a lot of fun and glad I finally did it. Hit the Cafe for some warm coconut cookies and went to bed after that, although at 1215ish...the promenade was definitely jumping. Live music at the English pub, sorrentos packed.

@Ampurp85 thanks for the concern, at first we thought maybe hangover and seasick. But she woke up today with a clogged ear and still a little dizzy..so chances are shes gonna end up in the room most of the day, again. I feel bad because she's looked forward to this for months, but I also have to make sure my son is still enjoying himself. She's very adamant about us doing our thing as long as we bring her the occasional bottle of water or two.

Sea day today..going down now to finally try MDR breakfast...then just some poolside activities like watching the Wettest link and belly flop contest.

Oh..we haven't seen the aqua show this time, we skipped it on the first night and figured we'd see it later in the cruise...it's been canceled almost every showing either before or during the performance.  I'm glad we saw it last time or I'd be a little disappointed.  We won't bother going to it now,if they get any of them off, so others can enjoy it if they want. We can watch from up top if need be.

LMAO! I was thinking the story would be about someone you saw... not about you personally... even better! Sounds like a fun night. Fresh cookies is always a nice ending. We've gotten old and boring before our years and don't usually make it to midnight.

So sorry to hear. I'm sure she's disappointed but of course she wants you guys to have a good time! Hope she rallies sooner than later.

Also @ScottD I hope you wife feels better.

The weather tomfoolery has kicked my butt because of sinus/allergy issues. I thought I had covid and took 4 tests because of headache, sneezing, congestion and a stye under my eyelid. Only to learn after feeling dizzy that I had a sinus infection.

How are we all not talking about how BBQ Chicken was a SIDE dish?!

I was definitely shocked at this...thought that would be one of the "main" choices, but nope.

I found some pics of the group of guys dancing in boxers but I'm conveniently out of frame.

Home sweet home. The last full day wasn't very eventful. But it was VERY windy and the waves were HUGE. I held off on doing the zipline until the last day...so I didn't get to try that due to the wind.  It was a pretty choppy cruise all along.. while watching the baseball game last night, I heard the aqua show start..then after 10 minutes they wrapped it up. Found out it was actually an abbreviated version they put together since they had so many cancelations, they just wanted to give the fans something to watch. Found out only ONE aquashow went off from start to finish, all others were canceled or stopped midway.

@SweetPeait was hell only bevause we were leaving, but the actual process was amazingly smooth. Left our room at 815 and were in our car and on the street by 9....and that's with birth certificates only (for the 2nd cruise in a row,the birth certificate line was non existent and we basically walked right out).  I am kicking myself for being too honest..we didn't pay for parking at the kiosk since the porter walked us all the way to the car, so while pulling out the guy asked if we paid,i said not yet,he waves me to the booth to pay.  The guy on front of me said he paid, showed them nothing and was waved around the booth and right out. I'm not one for cheating the system, but damn 210 bucks is 210 bucks. Anyway, after paying like a good boy,we were off and home before 11! The smoothest embarkation and debarkartion ever. On and off the ship with ease.

OH, I swore I wasn't doing Nextcruise but while sitting at playmakers last night my brain was working and and I realized it still makes sense because you get 60 days to pick the cruise and still get the obc. We already have a cruise booked for next year but in 60 days we should be able to book (non-icon) ships for 2025. And they make it WAY too easy to do on the app.  Literally check a box that you authorize the deposit and click OK...done.

I'll do a brief review of everything we loved and didn't when I wrap this up probably tomorrow.  I'm exhausted today!

My first cruise on Harmony they had to cancel all the aqua shows as well. They finally one day at the end while we were in port did it during the day while we were docked so people could at least try and see something. Was disappointing, but obviously safety comes first. I can tell you I wouldn’t be jumping off those platforms into that pool if there was no wind and the ship was sitting still, I certainly wouldn’t expect someone to be doing it on a moving ship with the water swooshing side to side in that pool lowering the water level by multiple feet.

I ALMOST FORGOT!  While walking down the gangway today, lady in front of us had one of those open top/drawstring backpacks. Sticking out of the top was a Tupperware container, full of food,I assume from Windjammer. That's not the good part. On top of that container, almost tied down with the drawstring, was two more paper bags with food, muffins or donuts would be my guess from the shape and size. These bags happened to say "sanitary napkins...p.do not flush" THESE PEOPLE USED THE TAMPON BAGS FROM THE BATHROOM TO SMUGGLE FOOD OFF!

Then we get to the luggage pickup,  find a porter to help us load em up and we hear the longshormen arguing with someone, telling a group of people they can't load and push a cart on their own (this cart was FULL,too). These people kept trying to push the cart and the dock guys were just holding it from the top, like when you hold a little kids head while he tries to hit you, not sure how that ended.  But i thought these two experiences in a matter of about a minute had to be shared.

No need to kick yourself.  There is no "too honest"  There are simply honest and dishonest.  Your $210 is an inexpensive life example for your son.

Yeah, Honestly I never would have even thought to actually do it.  The ease of getting in and out of that port was worth the money alone!

Hilarious but they're also clearly amateurs. That's what bringing a handful of gallon ziplocs is for.

EDIT: So you all don't think I'm even more frugal and food-crazy than I seem (is that possible?)... I usually just bring home some cookies.

I'll admit we had about 4 sugar free red bulls left in the room on the last day- they went right in the suitcase. Those things are like 3 bucks a pop at home! No food, though... and no sanitary napkin bags.

You know the saying, "Desperate times call for desperate measures." 🤣

And I agree with @OCSC Mike, clearly pre-gold. The pros carry empty ziploc bags lmao, don't ask me how I know

Same! A few(or more - who's counting) cookies help keep me in a semblance of cruise mode as I wing my way home.

A few things I swore I would do and never did

Zip line

Portside bbq

sing Karaoke

Ultimate abyss (this I've done before so no biggie...it's really not that exciting)

Things I swore I would do and actually did that I didn't last time:

Love and Marriage show

Crazy Quest

Adult comedy show

win at the casino

Also, already booked that Nextcruise I put the deposit on, going to give Liberty a shot, mainly because it leaves from NJ and we really want to do Bermuda.

I just ate so much...lol. Solo Breakfast at 7...breakfast with the family at 9... pizza with the kid by like 11, food on Coco cay, went to brunch in MDR one day. Every time I walked by Portside, I was stuffed!  I'm going to famous daves or mission bbq this week just to fulfill my need for some damn brisket!

Also known as the proper way to eat breakfast on a ship... in my mind at least.

I only make exceptions for when we have Mason Jar brunch booked on Wonder and on CocoCay day b/c I eat so much there.

I was a big fan of my solo breakfast- I get up so early and don't want to wake everyone up, so I slip out of the room and walked up to WJ about 3 mornings, just sat there and stared out the window while I picked at my eggs and french toast...and bacon....and hash brown.... and danish...lol.

I love how quiet the ship is early in the morning. I like going to Park Cafe at 6:30am when it opens (times may vary by ship) & getting a McMuffin or bagel. I wind up eating the buffet stuff with my wife after she’s done her morning walk/run on the track.

Central Park is great when empty. Also nice at that hour in the summer before it gets hot.

P.S. Brutal Phillies loss. Don’t they know I want to see WS games 1 & 2 on Allure? 🤣

I was 3-0 on the ship then they lose... should've done a b2b2b2b through the playoffs. 😂

+1 for being a fan of solo breakfast. I love my family, but I need my space too. Solo breakfast gives me that. And I don't feel bad about ditching them because none of them ever wake up that early.

Oh, and I am really beginning to think that we need a blog by @OCSC Mike documenting a full day of eating lol

I’ll make the WJ, Park Cafe, El Loco, and CocoCay food look so good you’ll forget all about your fancy specialty meals. 😁

OK, maybe not, and we actually have 2 specialty dinners out of 5 nights booked for Allure in 2 weeks, but if I blog, you may get your wish.

What is this "if" nonsense? 😁

🤣 It’s the last minute thing, getting to the port late (we’re not leaving til like 11:30 b/c my wife insisted on working a half day embarkation morning to make it interfere less with sub plans & other school crap), etc.

I’m guessing I’ll do one, semi-live again, but no promises.
