Pattycruise
Is there a “trick” to figuring out where the bed is located when booking? I guess I’ve been fortunate to have the bed location near the balcony for most every cruise, until recently. I really did not like having to squeeze between the bed and closet or having to go further into the room to drop off key/bag etc. also, being tall and having feet hang off the bed is not good when the better half walks by and bumps/wakes you-especially when one comes home late from the casino
WAAAYTOOO
Yes, there is a trick. 1. Imagine yourself standing in the hallway, and on the deck layout, find the closest set of connecting staterooms (double-sided arrow). The stateroom on the right side of the double arrows is the "right" configuration (I call that the "right" configuration b/c I prefer this arrangement AND it is located on the right side of the adjoined pair. Just makes sense). The stateroom on the left is the "wrong" configuration. 2. Then begin moving toward your cabin, alternating, right, wrong, right, wrong. When you land on your cabin, you will know whether it is the "right" (bed by the balcony) or "wrong” (bed by the bathroom). If you don't place yourself INSIDE the ship, in the hallway you will get it exactly backwards...so be sure that you are "counting" from the inside perspective, not the outside of the ship. Sorry if that's confusing. Trust me, I have made that mistake before. PPPJJ-GCVAB, D Alt, VirtKitty and 9 others 6 1 1
RogerC1
It alternates so if you can find a nearby cabin online and then look at a deck plan you can determine what your room will be. Pattycruise

FSUFAN
Well I think I am in a "wrong" room for our cruise to NE/Canada on the Voyager OTS. We are in 7560. I think I messed up on room selections for an Alaska Quantum OTS sailing too. I put us on the 11th floor and someone stated in another thread, that they were cold out on the balcony due to the overhang of the decks above shading them from the sun. Live and learn. Anyway, IMHO, any room on a ship is better than being at home sitting in the family room. I love my house but.... ellcee and WAAAYTOOO 1
PPPJJ-GCVAB
You can also double check by looking for YouTube videos of rooms on the ship you will sail on. If your room number is not in a video find one at least on your deck and same side of ship. Then count from that room (#1) to your room (1-2 , 1-2, etc). If you land on 1 for your room then it should have same configuration and a 2 would be the opposite. So depending on whether the video room is what you want or don’t want will tell you whether you need to call to change your room or not! If you really want to change your room you can call Royal (or your TA if booked that way) and as long as there are rooms available in your category you can switch with no added cost. I have done that a few times with no issues. Pattycruise
jack168
cruisedeckplans.com!!! Use it to find a picture/video of a room close to yours and do the alternating thing. (Or if you're lucky somebody uploaded a picture of your exact room) PPPJJ-GCVAB and WAAAYTOOO
FoxboroCruiser
I thought someone had previously posted that rooms with couches that convert to a bed have the couch near the balcony, and those that had non-bed convertible couches had the bed near the balcony? PPPJJ-GCVAB
Interesting note…I looked at the videos for deck 8 on Adventure of the Seas. Rooms 8364 and 8366 both have beds near the balcony. Actually it looked like rooms 8360 and 8362 (these are connecting rooms) also have both beds near balcony! Perhaps this ship does not alternate? jack168
The older ships have flat walls on both sides while newer ships like quantum/oasis have a zig-zag wall on one side that is shared between every 2 rooms. The bed is always located where the wall pushes outwards (which means the bed/sofa alternates between rooms). Maybe older ships don't follow this pattern because they don't have that wall? EnSeven
I wonder how many people read this thread yesterday and then we're pointing at cabins on a deck plan going "right wrong right wrong" I travel solo and just realised i prefer the couch by the balcony. With the door open it almost feels like it extends the space of both the sitting area and the balcony. My last cruise i had a solo cabin with large balcony but no sitting area, and it felt so squishy! I determined this by looking at cabin 12158 pictures on Cruisedeckplans.com. They are typically arranged every other room. https://cruisedeckplans.com/DP/deckplans/decks.php?ship=Odyssey-of-the-Seas Letscruise1
ScottD
Cruisedeck plan website actually has a full list of the rooms and their setup for Oasis, not sure if they do it for every ship, but I assume all of the Oasis class rooms go the same way... https://www.cruisedeckplans.com/DP/ships/Oasis-of-the-Seas/Cabins.php Edit: Sorry, I JUST realized you asked specifically for Odyssey Letscruise1

So 12154 would, again, have the bed by the bathroom. PPPJJ-GCVAB

Rfk
On Anthem a few months ago, we had connecting rooms. From the hall, the right room had couch by balcony, bed by RR. The left room had bed by balcony, couch by RR. In my case, left was best - had a spot on bed right by balcony door, wonderful air and sound for sleeping. Scarlett625
So glad someone asked this. My husband has a bone disease in his feet and needs a scooter for long distances, but not in the cabin. He hates to take a handicapped cabin from someone who needs to use their device in the cabin. We bought him a small scooter that is narrow enough to fit through the standard door and that also collapses down. Although it is easily collapsable it is a pain to do it every time we go to the cabin. We were recently on Liberty of the Seas and had a cabin with the bed closest to the door/bathroom. The scooter could get in the room with realative eases, but couldn't get around the bed easily. We didn't want to damage anything, so I ended up leaving it partially collapsed between my side of the bed and the bathroom. I had many leg bruises from banging into the handlebars trying to get into the bathroom during the night/early morning. I did not realize that the beds alternated on our upcoming cruise on Oasis OTS. I checked the website recommended and found a photo of a nearby cabin and chanted "right, wrong, right, wrong" to confirm I had booked a cabin with a bed by the door. Thankfully using the same process, I was able to find a cabin that has a bed by the balcony and a little more space when entering to put the scooter. I called RC and they were able to switch me with no issue. My legs greatly thank you all!!!
