12thman
Just curious if the Allure is held out at sea or Cozumel how does it affect the next cruise and the cruise after that? According to a travel report on YouTube there's a possibility of Allure returning Tuesday or Wednesday instead of Sunday.
tonyfsu21
I wish I was on the Allure right now. Seems like they will get some extra vacation time and won’t even feel the effects. I would imagine they have to cut the next trip short and will give refunds and onboard credit as compensation.
marti314
They may feel the affects of having to re-purchase airline tickets with <7 day notice which is a pretty hefty price tag.
MelKaps
I was on Allure of the Seas 2 years ago during Hurricane Irma. Our cruise was extended 3 days. Many people who had to get home got off at Jamaica, Costa Maya, and Cozumel. The next cruise after us was cut down to 4 days and was doing an overnight at Nassau. They were offering us the option to extend the 4 days for only a few hundred dollars since I assume people cancelled and they wanted to fill the cabins. We would have extended, but we had to return to work. I vlogged our entire cruise experience and provided updates along the way. True. RC doesn’t compensate for airline?
SPS
Depending on the length of the next cruise, that cruise could either be delayed and shortened or cancelled. In January of 2018, we were scheduled to sail on Grandeur for a 9-night out of Baltimore. Unfortunately, Grandeur had a rudder issue that required an immediate repair on the preceding cruise that resulted in a 2 day delay on OUR cruise. Rather than leaving on Thursday and heading to Charleston, SC as scheduled, we left on Saturday on an altered itinerary that skipped Charleston. While we were initially disappointed, it all worked out pretty well in the end. We flew to Baltimore on Thursday morning as originally scheduled, got a cheap rental car, used Marriott points for two nights hotel, saw some sights in Baltimore on Thursday, & went to DC on Friday. (my wife had never been there) RCCL compensated us with a 50% cruise fare refund & two days worth of our drink package refunded. Excursions for Charleston were also refunded for those that had them as well as airline change fees being compensated. (neither of which we needed) Ala_Paul and coneyraven

Most airlines have or will put waivers in place and they do not charge for changes for impacted travel dates. Refunds are offered and for guests on the ship when it gets extended they get a longer cruise for free. They typically are also offered super cheap rates to stay on the next shortened sailing. When this last happened Harmony turned the subsequent 7 night into a 4 night. A lot of people took the refund, some guest stayed on and the ship had 1/3 the number of guests compared to normal. Imagine an Oasis class ship with only ~2,000 guests. Guy Gadwa, Ala_Paul, 12thman and 2 others 1
basil
We were caught in Hurricane Irma also, but with a different cruise line. My 7 day cruise turned into a 12 day cruise. My T-Mobile reversed all call made at the time (did not have to ask) and Delta kept moving my flight each day (with out asking). We just kept checking our Delta App. When we finally got back to Florida, everything was done. We got real lucky. Sometimes the big companies will do the right thing. Here is to hoping they take care of their clients again. twangster
I wonder if it is the same Youtuber who got most of the facts and projections wrong when Oasis was damaged in the crane incident. Some bloggers and vloggers will do anything to get clicks and followers, even make stuff up. Fortunately here on royalcaribbeanblog.com @Matt sticks with known and confirmed information, not speculation. Yes..that YouTuber sure got everyone in a tizzy for my sailing! I am on the Allure sailing that's scheduled to leave Sunday. If it gets shortened I will come back here and report how Royal handles it in my situation. I have it easier than most because I'm within driving distance if things change on me. So conflicted am i right? On one hand you get a 2-3 day extension on cruise for free but on the other hand your airplane tickets. I guess one can only weight their options and see if its worth it? The real winners would be the people who lived local to the port, they're having a blast!

Fairlynew
People who live close to the port are probably worried about property damage (if they’re stuck on a ship) and family and friends. No winners in this type situation.
12thman
According to the RC website looks like the Allure's itinerary has changed: Allure 8/25/19 Sailing We’re now extending this sailing and will return on Wednesday, 9/4/19. We’ve added a visit Roatan on 8/31/19 and Costa Maya on 9/1/19. We will then have two sea days before we return to Fort Lauderdale on 09/04/19. DATES DAY ORIGINAL ITINERARY REVISED ITINERARY 8/25 Sunday Fort Lauderdale, Florida Fort Lauderdale, Florida 8/26 Monday Cruisng Cruising 8/27 Tuesday Labadee, Haiti Labadee, Haiti 8/28 Wednesday Falmouth, Jamaica Falmouth, Jamaica 8/29 Thursday Cruising Cruising 8/30 Friday Cozumel, Mexico Cozumel, Mexico 8/31 Saturday Cruising Roatan, Honduras 9/01 Sunday Fort Lauderdale, Florida Costa Maya, Mexico 9/02 Monday - Cruising 9/03 Tuesday - Cruising 9/04 Wednesday - Fort Lauderdale, Florida Allure 9/01/19 Sailing We’ve had to shorten this sailing, unfortunately, and will now depart on Wednesday, 9/4/19. The itinerary will remain the same for the days left of the voyage. DATES DAY ORIGINAL ITINERARY REVISED ITINERARY 9/01 Sunday Fort Lauderdale, Florida - 9/02 Monday Cruising - 9/03 Tuesday Labadee, Haiti - 9/04 Wednesday Falmouth, Jamaica Fort Lauderdale, Florida 9/05 Thursday Cruising Cruising 9/06 Friday Cozumel Cozumel 9/07 Saturday Cruising Cruising 9/08 Sunday Fort Lauderdale, Florida Fort Lauderdale, Florida My questions are what if you needed to be back in port on Sunday? Does Royal assist you with flying home from Roatan or Costa Maya? Does Royal provide hotel accommodations for those on the 9-1 sailing until 9-4? You are on your own and would have to pay out of pocket in both situations. I am potentially in the 2nd scenario right now since I'm on the delayed sailing. I am just not down there yet so I can opt to not go with ease. If you buy a combo package that includes the air, cruise, transfers and lodging all in one you need to speak with who you purchase the package from about what to do in the event of the delay. In that case I think they should cover your hotel. ChessE4

With that being said, sometime the universe looks out for you. I will say it worked out well, It had to. I was traveling with my husband and our 4 kids and 2 of their friends (youngest 20). Everyone going to different states. I needed a little luck with the logistics.
