So as a devoted Disney guy and enjoy DCL I am venturing to Oasis for a January 2020 sailing.

Really excited and I am glad I found this blog and forum to answer my questions.

Booked a Neighborhood Balcony Gty, would have been fine with an inside but splurged a little.

Thanks to all that post as reading about your experiences have been very helpful.

    Thanks again!

    Daniel

    Very nice post.

We have 12 people sailing together on Harmony.  When we booked the only time we could get was 8PM.  Seems a little late for dinner with 6 kids.  Is it hard to get seated earlier in the MDR?  How does that work?  Wait for a table like a normal restaurant?  We could easily break up with 6 per table.

Early seating is probably "sold out" for your sailing, but hope is not lost.

    1. Call Royal (or your travel agent if you used one) and get on the waitlist for early seating. When anyone cancels their cruise or changes their dining, those slots open up.

    2. If that doesn't work out, go to the MDR as soon as you board the ship. Tell them what you want and there is a great chance they will accommodate you. We needed to make some changes on Symphony last May and there was a confirmation note in our cabin about 2 or 3 hours later.

When you cancel a CP purchase, they completely cancel that transaction and refund the card originally used to make that purchase. I usually see the credit refund on my card in 3-4 business days. When you then re-purchase the item, it's a completely new transaction. Sometimes the credit refund hits your credit card on the same day as the new purchase!

Unfortunately, they do not make adjustments and credit you back the difference with Cruise Planner purchases. Even when I called customer service one time to cancel and re-book a cabana, they had to cancel the first transaction and then create a new purchase.

@Nick, just to add to this, if you made the original purchase using on board credit, that OBC will appear back in your account immediately upon cancellation and available to use for your new purchase.

    Nice site. Thanks.

@plasticmaster  I have used buyreservations.com several times (in other cities) and have never been disappointed. It usually runs $150-175 for the 1 night hotel and up to 10 days of parking. Shutlles to airports are usually free, but shuttles to cruise ports usually run $10-15 per person extra.

^^^This is exactly what Hubby and I were saying!

I don't blame you for being upset about this. I'm someone who believes that principles and communication mean something. If I were you, besides the survey, this would be a time I'd email Micheal Baily 's office. ( mbayley@rccl.com ) I think it would be proper in this case to let them know your C&A status and that you not only sail in suites, but that you are also a star class customer (even if not this time).  The fact that 2 out of 2 crew members were of no help or just didn't know is inexcusable. You should find out the hotel director's email and copy that office.

Now that I got this off MY chest, you let it go for the time being and love every minute that's left on your cruise---it will be over all too quickly. Good luck and have fun!

With that said, I have taken Kuka (my profile pic) to Captain's Bounty in Rockport MA - right on the beach.  It was a memorable vacation for us and her.

And Captains Bounty is stated as pet friendly, so no issue there. I agree with @ellcee and everyone else--your dog is magnificent! Also love your area. Have family in MA. When he was young I used to take them to Fenway (my favorite park when I used to care about baseball) to see the Red Sox. I was never a Yankee fan, but driving to Fenway with, at that time, NY plates on the car was never fun! Couldn't convince people that I was on their side. Had to get a Sox cap to wear in the car,

New pier project in Grand Cayman in a joint venture by two of the biggest cruise lines !! See cruisefever.net article:

    https://cruisefever.net/carnival-cruise-line-and-royal-caribbean-will-help-finance-pier-on-grand-cayman/?fbclid=IwAR0bHQP-GNXBxbadjLIatVUaRo-2dBqGl-RoPBO5wiWZkUeMEdD1AoFutm8

    From the article:

"The project is expected to cost up to $200 million to build and will take two and a half years to complete. Each passenger that visits Grand Cayman will be levied with a $8 per head fee."

I may be off here, but didn't doing EVERYTHING on Cococay cost about $250 million including the pier AND take less than 2.5 years to complete? This will take more time and 80% of that money for just a pier? Can there be any Perfect Day features even though Carnival is involved? What am I missing?

That left my vote for 150 and Hubby’s for Jamie’s. Well, you know who won that one.

First time I've ever said this: Boo on Hubby. It's your anniversary cruise. How could he pass up the ambiance (not to mention the food and service) of 150 CP? He obviously didn't read my Symphony blog. ?

Well, it's not a cruise and it's not the color of the Caribbean, but it sure helps! We are only about a half hour away and are here now. Like I've said before, do not judge NJ by the turnpike!

Well today we got ambitious and traveled 85 miles further south than the beach above to the very edge of the state..Cape May, NJ. It's a few degrees cooler and enough breeze for folks to keep kites going. This is one of our favorite towns. Cute shops, restaurants, bed and breakfasts, hotels, etc.

We already established in @twangster's Ovation Alaska blog that bots are like vampires and don't show up in photographs. Now, being a Lulubot instead of a regular bot, it might be more like with the character Seth in "City of Angels"; instead of being invisible, she'll just be this brilliant pillar of light in the photo.

    ?

I can't believe it just occurred to me after all this time and I apologize if someone else brought it up and I missed it. But, with all the teasing about @twangster and @Lovetocruise2002 being bots, YOU, my friend, are the only one that has "bot" in your name AND has it copyrighted! Just sayin'   ??

I've switched to watching news from the BBC and F24 (France) as well as Asia. ALL the "main stream" news outlets in the US are nothing but politically biased reporting and little else. One day I saw reports about unrest and violence in 6 different countries in Africa, hundreds of deaths, all in one day and all of which was ignored by the media here. But if a Kardashian farts there will be live reports from the scene.

the haha reaction doesn't cover your post---now we need a "that's hilarious" reaction!

    Where do you buy this????!!!!

I have always bought them on line. Usually ebay is the cheapest because a lot of the vendors have free shipping, but it's also available on Amazon, Staples.com., officedepot.com etc. What I do now is buy the 16.9 ounce pump bottle and use that to refill the original 2 oz bottles so my wife and children each have their own.

Just search for Clorox CLO 02174 Bleach-Free Hand Sanitizer.

If you're not averse to opening up credit cards sometimes it's worth a year's annual fee for some of the credit card perks (free bags) and sign-on bonus.

Barclay Bank is currently giving 60,000 bonus miles for their American Airlines Aviator card. Well worth the $99 fee, especially with the free bags and priority boarding, etc. As a matter of fact, we are considering getting a second one for DW, depending on travel plans.

    Hello,

I keep seeing that the is a $13 limit on the drinks you can get on board.  No being a heavy drinker, what kind of drink would cost more than $13?

Some wines are very expensive as well as some premium brand liquors. I am not a big drinker either and have never gone over the limit, but there is ample opportunity to do so.

FYI, what usually works out best for us is getting the refreshment package and adding a shot to the covered virgin frozen drink or mocktail.
