AdryV Posted February 24 Report Posted February 24 I'm asking because the last cruise we went on (Virgin Voyages) it was FREEZING inside the ship, we were lucky we had taken jackets just in case since it was March and it could be hit or miss with the temp especially at night. We definitely wore them the whole time we were indoors. What are RCCL ships like? Quote
VC22 Posted February 24 Report Posted February 24 Depends on where you’re at and which ship you’re on tbh. Studio B was always cold because of the ice. I’ve usually felt comfortable though RCIfan1912 1 Quote
HeWhoWaits Posted February 24 Report Posted February 24 Cold or not cold is very personal and subjective. At certain temperatures, I am too warm to comfortable in long pants and my wife requires a sweater or jacket. RCIfan1912 and BigKarl 1 1 Quote
PhillyLady Posted February 24 Report Posted February 24 Well, when I am in Alaska out on a windy deck shivering, the ship always feels warm. In the hot Caribbean or Mediterranean sun, the air conditioning is great. I always wear a dressy cover up over my sleeveless gowns indoor at dinner and in the theater, but I take it off when I hit the dance floor. Quote
smokeybandit Posted February 24 Report Posted February 24 I've never found it to be cold most places inside. RCIfan1912 1 Quote
Pattycruise Posted February 24 Report Posted February 24 Interior is usually temp controlled and comfortable. Of course that’s subject to individuals. i just sailed out of NJ and the only areas I found cold were near the opening doors to outside areas ( of course) and deck 3 forward where they must have been loading luggage (that area was fine once we were underway. Otherwise I was fine in a blouse or Tshirt. (I do run warm), noticed lots of people in t shirts and some with hoodies. I think where you are from matters too.I’m sure the Canadians would think 30F is comfortable but a Floridian would be cold at 60F. Quote
need2cruz Posted February 24 Report Posted February 24 The theater is usually cold. We bring jackets to every theater show we go to. We usually end up wearing them. Quote
smokeybandit Posted February 24 Report Posted February 24 As a general rule, if you tend to get chilly inside public spaces on land, then I would prepare to be chilly on a ship. Pattycruise 1 Quote
sleepy425 Posted February 24 Report Posted February 24 Maybe I'm the odd woman out on this one, but I find the ships warmer than they were years ago. I always needed a sweater in the main dining room over my dress, but now I don't even bring one on the cruise. I do bring a hoodie (or buy one...their ship specific hoodies are actually really good quality!) for going outside at night, but inside the ship I feel like it is plenty warm. (Orrrrrr maybe I am becoming a woman of a certain age and it is just hot flashes) Ampurp85 1 Quote

A few years back I ALWAYS had to bring a wrap to wear in the casino and I have completely stopped packing them now. Ampurp85 1 Quote
dustfsu Posted February 24 Report Posted February 24 I feel like they use to keep the ships pretty cold, but they are not anymore. Even on our Alaska cruise I thought the ship would feel a little cooler, but it was a little warm. When we do the Caribbean itinerates I don't think I can find one cold spot on the ship. Some area's are comfortable, but usually I walk around sweating all day. Hoping that the Utopia since it is a newer ship will be a little better, but I am still brining my fan for the cabin Ampurp85 1 Quote

The only place we have sailed that the wife insisted we "Turn up the heat" in our cabin was Alaska in September. She is from Syracuse, NY and does not like the Cold. When we visit her relatives there I usually wear Shirt, Pants, Snow boots, and gloves and I am good to go. Opposites attract ! PhillyLady 1 Quote
FionaMG Posted February 24 Report Posted February 24 I always find it cold inside the ship. I think I have ice water in my veins instead of blood. The cabin air con is almost always too cold for both DH and me so we usually turn it off if we can or turn the heat up if we can't. Quote
WAYNO Posted February 25 Report Posted February 25 I've never found it cold behind closed doors on a ship. My wife, who is often cold, said she also does not remember being cold indoors on a ship, other than a couple cruises ago, where the cabin heat did not work at all. Quote
Ryan79 Posted February 25 Report Posted February 25 Cold is subjective. My wife wears long sleeves and is under a blanket when it’s 90 degrees outside. I wear shorts at 40 degrees Quote
asquared17 Posted February 25 Report Posted February 25 hottest part of the ship is when they turn the air off between 2-4am. wakes me out of a sound sleep as the cabin is suddenly stifling. eco mode against our will!! Pattycruise, WAAAYTOOO, Sharla and 1 other 4 Quote
MdFormula350 Posted February 25 Report Posted February 25 most of the interior spots are definitely cool / comfortable. I would say its not hot or even warm unless its when im in the thermal suite or gym, can never stay cool enough in. there. ive seen folks fanning themselves and at the same time people wearing hoodies, so its person dependent overall for sure, but in general id say they run them cooler overall. tjcruisers Posted February 25 Report Posted February 25 For me I find it depends on the ship class. Find the Oasis class a little warmer than the others. In any case I always pack a hoodie (even in summer) just be prepared Quote

We found this to be the case on Icon this summer. It was stifling in our room at night and quite chilly in the day. Now I have a fan that I will travel with. While I appreciate the sentiment of eco mode they should do it during the day and not at night! asquared17 1 Quote
