Free champagne bottle, but we don't drink. Gift to steward?

Unfortunately, they are not allowed to keep alcohol in their rooms, so if you gift it to them, it will be kept until the end of their contract. I found this out from the staff in Jaime's after we recommended a wine to our server. They can drink in port and partake of the crew bar and even the guest bars, but no alcohol in their rooms.

I, sadly, don't have any suggestions though. We got a free bottle for booking at next cruise on the first day and though I had intended to sip on mimosas every sea day morning, we ended up never opening it. And since we had to fly back home we didn't want to risk it exploding on the plane.

We just ended up leaving it in the room in hopes it would be retrieved and reused.🫤

If you won it through the casino you can ask most of the other gamblers around you and they would be very happy to take it off your hands. The other suggestion is what we do and that is save it until Christmas time and give it as a gift to someone we know will drink it. They do not know we got it for free. We have a cabinet full of champagne and wine that we "gift" to our friends then. They love it.

I often gift bottles of champagne or wine (I can only drink so much, darn it!) and my understanding is the attendant can keep it or trade it for something else they want.  Whereas no, they can't keep booze in their room they can access it if they want to drink it as part of a crew party or whatever. I also provide a note stating it's from me in case their floor supervisor wants to make sure they didn't just pick it up without my okay.

We won at the art auction.  Unfortunately, we fly home and our luggage is already pushing the weight limit!  Thanks to everyone for their ideas.  We have some options now.

We also ask the cabin attendants if they'd like our bottles of wine.  In every case, they've eagerly responded yes!

Other times, I've offered our wine and/or champagne to folks we've met, and even sometimes offering it up to someone passing our cabin.  Wine and bubbly is easy to get rid of.🤪

I have taken to Diamond lounge and given it to someone.  To dining room and did the same.  Or offered to cabin attendant, who usually are eager to accept it.  But they do not usually take it until last day, so I just leave it in cabin for them in that case.   Another interesting case was the time I had a bottle of champagne called Michelle,  I stood by by cabin door and the next couple to come by I gave it to them.  Funny as her name was Michelle and it was their first cruise!  I was thrilled.

Did you have to plan out how many singles you'd need for this or did you get lucky that 61 was the magic number?

Also, this is really cool and I hope Dion enjoyed seeing when they walked in 🙂

We alswys bring extra singles, you never know for sure how many you will go through.

We were just lucky he had a short name  🙂

For years we have been receiving the St. Michelle sparkling wine (I don't think it's true Champagne).  I am super lazy so I just never thought about trying to get a different kind of sparkling wine UNTIL this last Mariner cruise.  When we turned Pinn they gave us a bottle of Moet Chandon and I was shocked at the difference in taste.  I have no palate for such things so I never noticed before.  I had NO idea that we could have been getting the Moet since we passed 525 points !  Think of all the crap sparkling wine I consumed not realizing that it could be much better !  Since we were besties with the LA on Mariner anyway, I took that bottle of crap St Michelle down to her desk and asked if there was any way we could exchange it for the Moet and she said, "of course !!".  She took it and later that day we got a nice bottle of Moet.  She also changed our preference so that we will receive the Moet in the future.  YIPPEE !  I really hate that you cannot make changes to your C&A gift preferences online anymore, but the LA will help you with it if you choose to make changes.
