Jill
So I applied my 125% cruise planner credit from my canceled May cruise to an upcoming October cruise. What happens to that 125% OBC if that October cruise is canceled? I’ve heard it gets wiped out because it’s considered OBC. I REALLY hope that’s not the case. Has anyone had a cruise canceled that applied 125% CP OBC? If so, did you get it reissued?
Bakerette
I had cancelled a cruise myself because I could no longer go on the cruise so I got a 100% FCC & I also had $325 OBC applied on my account that I got from royal as part of a promotion when I booked the cruise that their was $271 OBC offered with that promotion and then because royal was gonna discontinue the eat....play....discover program for central park/boardwalk balcony rooms, but in September 2019, & my cruise was scheduled for April 2020 so when I received that email I selected that I wanted to keep the eat, play, discover perks and then I called royal on that same day and said that I wanted to keep the eat discover play perks so I had told the representative had issued me another $50 in OBC which added up to $325 in OBC was not reissued to me when I cancelled the cruise & I don’t know why it was not reissued from when I cancelled my cruise that was scheduled in April 2020. Jill
I’ll send Sharla at MEI an email today. I can’t imagine they’d wipe out $1800 of cruise planner OBC if the cruise gets canceled by them. I would think they’d just reissue the certificate to be used on another. This isn’t like free OBC promotion. This was for all my purchases from our canceled May cruise plus an extra 25%. I applied this certificate to my upcoming October cruise which likely will get canceled. Sharla, CruisingKitty and DDaley 2

That's my thought as well, but what I read for the T&C definitely make it seem as though if the cruise ends up getting canceled you're going to end up losing that OBC. I would hope they would reissue the certificate, but I'm not sure they have a written process for that yet. If I had one of these OBC, I wouldn't apply it until after cruising resumes for sure and probably wouldn't do it until close to the sail date. You can always just wait and spend it on board or cash it out at the casino for 5% surcharge and still effectively be up 20%.

DDaley
I asked this question too and no one was able to answer! I had spent $800 of my own dollars on a booking that got cancelled so even I don't get to keep the extra 25% they added to that amount, I would like to think they wouldn't just *&%^ you on the amount you had spent originally. That would be super messed up! WAAAYTOOO and CruisingKitty 1

Ian T
I know that @Sharla is on the case and will no doubt be in a position to share the definitive answer in due course, but FYI I have just got off the phone with RCI. I called on another matter but I too have applied CP 125% FCC to a forthcoming cruise and so asked out of interest what would happen if the new cruise is cancelled by RCI (it's out of the UK in Oct 2020). The agent advised that as I have a FCC certificate number it will simply be reactivated, reverting me back to the position that I was in before I applied it. Time will tell as to whether this is indeed correct, I am sure; however I hope of course that I don't have to find out as we will be on board spending it instead! Bladeguy1308
My sep 27 2020 cruise was just cancelled and I did lift and shift to sep 2021. I have a question in regards to the 125% cruise planner OBC. If I use the obc for a purchase on the 2021 cruise and there is a price drop on an item can I cancel and rebook with the OBC instantly or does it take forever for the OBC to be credited back to your acct to reuse? Once you cancel an item, your OBC immediately increases. crisgold52
Kcusack89
Canceled may cruise we opted for the FCC and 125% cruise planner credit. Rebooked for October I'm going to fight like hell for a refund for both. If seen some be successful with getting the FCC refunded. I will not be traveling in 2021 due to us wanting to start a family. Since I won't know when we will be pregnant I can't book a cruise. I think it's unfair for them to not consider a refund when they can't even give a concrete re sale date. Worse case scenario I'll wait till the last possible time in 2022 to cruise . I really hope they extend out date to book by. December 2021 just isn't enough time for my situation. I never ever thought we wouldn't be cruising by October. Now Bahamas is closed to the USA so I'm sure Coco cay is out now too. crisgold52
MJO
Hi, does anybody knows if I can opt for the refund of the cruise fare and the 125% OBC for the cruise planner purchases? I already have a FCC applied to my next sailing so won't be able to apply another one, reason why I'm opting for the refund but I want the 125% for the CP purchases. I dont really see the problem with it, but not sure. Does anyone have experience with it?

You cannot get a refund and choose the cruise planner credits

You cannot get a refund and choose the cruise planner credits Wow, I don't really understand why but they should have their reasons. Even though this blog is my #1 source of information, I decided to do a little research and found something that works beautifully with my plan. "If your sailing was cancelled as part of our COVID-19 operations suspension, you will receive one Future Cruise Credit combining the two amounts: 100% of your original Future Cruise Credit amount and 125% of any additional cruise fare funds paid on the reservation." Luckily to me the FCC is not applied to the next booking yet and since I will be receiving just 1 FCC for the full amount I will be able to request both the 125% FCC and OBC. Yayyy. Now I just have to hope for the best for my January sailing. With all the pain in my heart I gave up on booking 2020 sailings. Ampurp85
Hmmmm I think that you can get a refund or FCC....and the 125% OBC. My understanding has always been that CP is independent of cruise fares. So if you chose a refund for a cancelled cruise, you can get the 125% OBC as they are two separate transactions. MJO
That's what I thought as well, then I read this on the website. If I was already issued my 125% Onboard Credit and I choose to take the cruise refund instead of the 125% Future Cruise Credit at a later date, do I get to keep my Onboard Credit? Once you request a refund of your cruise fare, regardless of whether it's before or after the Cruise Planner opt-in period, you are no longer eligible for the 125% Onboard Credit. A refund will be processed for both your cruise fare paid and any amount paid for Cruise Planner purchases.
