stevendom57 Posted June 20, 2020 Report Posted June 20, 2020 Whenever I try any of the waterslides on cruise ships I stop partway down. I have to push myself along until I can get moving again. It's embarrassing and I always lose the waterslide races. The Ultimate Abyss looks like it is so steep that I won't get stuck. Is that true? Steven Quote
TXcruzer Posted June 20, 2020 Report Posted June 20, 2020 I believe it would be difficult to get stuck, but just to clarify, The Abyss is not a waterslide, it is dry. i always get a "rug burn" on my elbow coming down but never came close to slowing down or getting stuck. stevendom57 1 Quote
WannaCruise Posted June 20, 2020 Report Posted June 20, 2020 It goes pretty quick. Can't imagine anyone would get stuck. It's lots of fun. stevendom57 1 Quote
twangster Posted June 21, 2020 Report Posted June 21, 2020 You need some of the super lubricant from Christmas Vacation. On the Abyss you sit on their mat that is calibrated for the ideal friction coefficient. I can't imagine getting stuck, it's pretty steep but their mat is engineered for the proper speed. stevendom57, Ogilthorpe and sk8erguy1978 1 2 Quote
Matt Posted June 21, 2020 Report Posted June 21, 2020 I had same issues of getting stuck on water slides, but no such issue riding Abyss. The mat helps. stevendom57 1 Quote
DunkelBierJay Posted June 21, 2020 Report Posted June 21, 2020 I had no issues getting stuck on the Abyss aboard Symphony...very fun slide and it seemed longer than I anticipated. Quote
RBRSKI Posted June 21, 2020 Report Posted June 21, 2020 One thing tall people have to be aware of is the small diameter of the tube. Us tall people have to lean waaaaay back so you don't hit your head! Neesa and WAAAYTOOO 2 Quote

bossdog421 Posted June 21, 2020 Report Posted June 21, 2020 Tips to go faster in a waterslide: Try to have as little of your body actually touching the slide as possible. Cross your ankles, cross your arms, lift your butt completely off the slide with all your weight on the heels of your feet and your shoulders. Try to keep your legs, butt, back and head off the slide as much as possible. The less body touching the slide the faster you go. That's how you get 3 plus spins around the toilet bowl... i mean champagne bowl... on the Supercell slide. EDIT: Since this is a topic about the Abyss. I want to add to NOT do this on the abyss.
