Just because you get older doesn't mean you lose your sense of humour, everyone be it young or old is different and what one person finds funny another may not no matter the age.
CD i had on freedom didn't float my boat, in fact spending a weekend with the in-laws would have been more enjoyable and i've not seen them in years, it wasn't the fact he was almost invisible the whole cruise, it was simply the fact he didn't have the " patter"!
Anyone can learn jokes and things to say but that's just putting on a show,  being spontaneous, quick witted and having a wicked sense of humour is to me funny no matter the age.

Quite a dilemma! But it's really a matter of accepting the fact that your partner is making a career move which will impact your future also....and he is sacrificing big time by being in the academy at Christmas time.. You are booked on a pleasure cruise which is a moment in time that you will enjoy, but it has nothing to do with your future. I would think you should enjoy being with the rest of  your family and be appreciative of the fact your partner is pursuing an honorable profession. Enjoy the cruise and thank your partner for his sacrifices and future public service.
Also, the fact that he was unable to go gives you a really good reason to book more cruises as you mentioned in your P.s.

The cabin category will state what it is a view of. As an example, it will say "Central Park view Balcony cabin" versus "Ocean view balcony cabin".
Also, balconies that overlook Central Park or Boardwalk are only on Oasis Class ships.
Furthermore, I'd advise you to use a good travel agent to help ensure you pick the right cabin for you.

I agree @DitchdocThis past thanksgiving we were on Anthem. We went to 270 for lunch. To our surprise there was a band that was there doing a sound check. To our even happier surprise they were a Journey tribute band. They were fantastic. We got to sit there and have lunch with maybe a dozen or so other people (it was a Nassau port day so no need to get off the ship and there were only a few people around) and we got treated to this impromptu set. The band was interactive with the few of us that were there. They played a few times that week and it was easily the best entertainment on a ship we have seen in many years of cruising.
On another cruise line that inititals start with an N in February they had a Beatles tibute band that really looked the part but probably becuase of liscensing fees they didnt play many "hits" and it iwas in such a small venue people were literally packed in like sardines so it wasnt great while in another restaurant/bar they had a fantastic live country band that was super entertaining. Played everything from oldies to current hits. they had the crowds up and dancing and also very interactive. It really drew people in. as soon as they stopped playing (45 minute sets) the place cleared out. Made me wonder why they didnt play longer sets. The alcohol was feely flowing, people were eating apps so they were making $ for sure. We couldnt understand why they played for such short amounts of time.
Obviously I dont understand the contracts that the cruise lines have with the entertainers and the scheduling of the entertainment during the cruise but IMHO I find that this is where the Cruise director and staff can fail. If something is popular and it is entertaining the crowd and they are selling booze/food then utilize that momentum and change up the schedule to fit the energy of that particular cruise crowd.

I take my breakfast every morning on the balcony when we cruise.  Before anyone else in the cabin is awake.  I find the time peaceful and relaxing.
I've watched the sun rise and the ship come into exotic ports of call.  I reflect on the day that was and the day to come.  Then I shatter the calm by waking everyone up to start the day.

I found it at Walmart actually.   Cant remember the brand name offhand but they work as well as a Yeti and look just like them.   Just get the 16oz can size (they are taller) and work just fine with the screw top 16s they serve on the ship.

I could not agree more. Currently we have 3! The closest one is Anthem to Bermuda for 5 nights that leaves 4 weeks from today.  We really like having them stacked up so we are always in countdown to the next one. Friends ask us "don't you get bored cruising. Dont you want to try something else?" for all of the reasons you mentioned we have everything we could want on a cruise without the hassle of having to go get it. A cruise brings it all right to us.

Is there a disco-sucks party at the same time somewhere on the ship. lol  There should be at one of the bars.  You know, playing Led Zeppelin, Kiss, Stones with the movies Detroit Rock City or Dazed and Confused playing.  That would be awesome.  I'm going on Oasis in December, someone needs to make this happen.

Hi @Jill.  The decision to have the track at the pool deck seems worse after the Freedom and Voyager class upgrades during the last cycle. They added the panoramic rooms on deck 12 and significantly cut down the track distance by about 40 percent. Not that I am complaining because those are my favorite rooms.
I am also a runner and walker so I do the deck 4 and 5 walk.  I also walk some interesting routes on different decks. Get creative and find different loops all over the ship. Enjoy!!

The same is also true for Port Canaveral, select RC terminals at port everglades, port of Tampa and port of Miami.

Even if you checkin online you still have to walk through security, and at different cruise terminals you still have to checkin with a representative. I had to checkin with a representative at the terminal in Port Canaveral even through I had checked in online.
  18. Thanks
whenismynextcruise got a reaction from SLJ in Online check-in photo
If you choose to check in online that is where you would upload your picture. None of this is "required" - its a conveninece for you and the cruise line. Checking in online allows you to fill in all of your information, add a credit card if you choose for you on board expenses and a pictire if you want. It does make the check in process shorter for you. Just like online check in for a flight where you can pre print your boarding pass etc. If you choose not to do the online check in all of it can and will be done at the terminal. Make sure you DO print your Set Sail Pass or have a digital copy on your phone (I ususally have both just in case because I like a backup plan)  and bring it with you. It will have your basic information on it and you will use that to check in.
You will see and read varying experiences here because each cruise port and ship seem to have a different process. For example in Bayonne, NJ if you check in online it makes it very easy at the port. You can walk in and find an RC representative holding an iPad and they can check you in completley right inside the door. If you dont check in online then you walk through security and join the line and check in with a representative. Obviously that can take longer. A note on both of these options is that I have never uploaded a picture at home. Even with the iPad option the rep. can take your picture on the spot and you are all set.
So its up to you to decide what you would prefer.

I love dogs....but....if someone's 'support animal' peed on my or any member of my family the animal would be in need of a vet since I would have punted it while it was defecating.  And if I was in the right place....I would have scored a goal with it on the owners face.
