"Bad" is subjective, meaning if you prefer a particular deck or position on the ship you might not be happy with a GTY, but for the most part I've been lucky with them!
If you're looking for refundable deposit option then GTY is not going to work because it's only a non-refundable deposit option. But it's a great way to save money if you're not picky about your room.

I wonder if someone on Etsy might paint some for you? Would be a cool thing to have. I love my DCL ones!

Man .. I'm royally pissed.. I was advised by the travel company the reason for the cancellation was due to last payment not submitted even when they had advised me the last payment submission was extended. I had full intentions in paying the remaining balance before the due date,... Even though I can't see any sailing for the remainder of 2020.. but you never know. the other travel agent has assured me the Nov sailing will be canceled. I would rather have paid my last payment then the sailing cancelled.
It was a mistake on their part and I don't know how to deal with this.
The travel agent I was dealing with kept telling me she was on hold for hours almost every day, then to reach someone who had no clue what they were doing.
I think it's best that I move on to MEI "Sharla"? or link up with another travel agent of the same company.
Hi Rene, If you'd like to email me [email protected] I can help going forward for sure! I'm sorry this happened to you!

Even if your cruise is canceled by Royal Caribbean it will still be listed as active for a few weeks after the cancellation. I'm sure it was a glitch with them!

Deposits are based on length of cruise. If you book at NextCruise it's lower typically, but if you're just booking at home.
Normally $100 per person for 1-5 nights, $250 per person for 6-9 nights, and $450 per person for 10 night or longer cruises.
If you want to use your FCC for the deposit you can pay the difference I am pretty sure.

I was thinking of watching the movie that was filmed when we were on the Harmony group cruise again. It wasn't a very good movie but it was fun to see the ship and some of our group being extras!

Tell your TA, they will add it in to your total. If you want to make a partial payment that just covers gratuities that can be done too.

Thanks everyone. It's nice to know that I'm not the only one. I guess their computers must automatically default to non-refundable.
Yes they do automatically default to non-refundable. I have been able to fix it for people on the same day or the next day, so hopefully you or your agent can call in and figure it out.

When I have been on ships without the Freestyle machines I just showed my card at the bar to show I had the drink package. And this also works if you've forgotten your cup in the room, or if you're in an area where there is no Freestyle machine. I would imagine this is a low priority for them but so many people use the machines they'll have to address it.

They'll have to make adjustments as they go. They will have a plan A, B, C, D (and so on) in place. I do believe they will have thought of most scenarios before they sail again but there's no way it's a one size fits all kind of thing.

They are trying to boost their sales, it's not a scam if it's from them.

The reason I don't spend time in casinos on Royal Caribbean ships is the smoking. And on a lot of ships it wafts up into the Royal Promenade, which is even worse! I'm all for smoke- free casinos!

I would definitely recommend calling in for this and not doing it online- because those VS rooms are hard to come by! I did find one for some guests for next fall on Liberty, but it was the only one left that would qualify for L&S. If you find a date then call in immediately on it!

Yes- as the PP said your FCCs belong to you! You can rebook it with an agent and have them apply FCCs to it later.

Hooray! I assume you asked about getting the OBC back if Royal cancels it. Any chance you know if this also goes for Lift and Shifting?
It depends on what the OBC was for- but the L&S I have seen mostly have OBC associated with them.

It’s super simple. Just send your TA an email with the confirmation number and let him/her do the transfer ! I think you have a great plan !
Yes this is correct- send the confirmation number as well as the ship and sail date to your TA! It's very easy and can be done within 60 days of booking if not paid in full.

Hi! You can transfer to an agent within 60 days of deposit and not paid in full. If you want to L&S and then transfer that's fine, or you can transfer to the agent and they can process the L&S for you. It's not a new booking if you do the L&S, it's the same booking so the 60 days starts from deposit.
