As I understand it…Typically tsunamis out at sea travel nearly undetected as the bulk of the waves are underwater. It isn’t until the sea depth lessens that a visual wave will appear…and usually not a breaking wave. I have seen videos of ships just riding over such waves. Even smaller vessels. So I think ships at sea are safer than being near a shoreline. I guess if there is a warning where the ship happens to be docked…then the safest thing would be to move out to sea. But I hope in any event, no one is affected by a tsunami and if one does come ashore…it’s near an uninhabited area.

As someone who is exhaling a sigh of relief at Oasis' time, I think the fact people are finding out probable cancellations from this list instead of from Royal first to be pretty bad customer service.  You two should've been contacted by now.

Hi Miguel, welcome to the forums!
New C&A rank will be applied on the cruise after the one where you earn it. That said, if you would effectively hit the new rank after the first or second night then you could go to Guest Services, let them know about your situation, and ask if there was a way they could "enable" it mid-trip. They don't always, I've really only heard about it happening for Pinnacle or Diamond; not sure if they'd make that kind of accommodation for Platinum.

Pattycruise got a reaction from IRMO12HD in Back to Back, how did it worked Pre-Covid, how is it working now?
I'm debating to book a Back to Back cruise BUT.....

first cruise would be with hubby and I.....2nd would be hubby leaves the ship and daughter (age 19) gets on.
Is this doable?  The same stateroom is available for both trips-does it even have to be the same stateroom?.
I tried calling Royal and I never had a less interested salesperson-perhaps because  I told her I just wanted to ask a question as opposed to "lets book this!"? She essentially said I guess it can be done when I asked if there were any particular protocols due to Covid she said "there could be but that's always changing".  LOL  Mind you I did not mention I am thinking of FEBRUARY to do this!-so I know there will be many changes between now and then.
So in pre-Covid times was this a "thing".  Book the same room but one person stays on both weeks and a new person joins for that second week?
During these days, what is happening?  I figured if I get a feel for the "old" days and the current situation I can at least make an informed "guess" as to what I can/cannot do.
    Thank you!

Usually, you just have to keep checking the site. I have not seen any emails for cruise planner sales. Just make it a point to check every so often.

I believe you just have to tell them you when ordering that you don’t want those drinks as your free D+ drinks ….. then when ordering alcohol tell them to charge those as D+ free drinks
What I’m not sure about is if they’ll let one adult in your room get the deluxe beverage package and not make you get it if your reason is that you only plan to use your 5 free drinks to get alcohol.  If that does work …… I’d love to do the same …… the 5 free drinks a day is enough for me ……. But not for my spouse.

I usually book my cruise as soon as available.   But one cruise I had been waiting to open, happened to open to bookings while on another cruise. I had asked Next Cruise agent to notify me if it became available and she did 2 days later.  I got a fantastic deal, but may have been that I booked right away and/or the Next Cruise agent contributed.  I even got a $600 OBC.    Unfortunately the cruise got cancelled last year.   But was great experience and would do it again.   I would not hesitate to book onboard again.

I just called my local pharmacy as they offer Covid testing.
Medicare and Medicaid are covered....for the rest of us he said it is $65 for a rapid test.  Here is the website from their page, it has a place you can enter a zip code to find pharmacies that participate.  https://myrx.io  Perhaps give that a try to see if there is a pharmacy near where you will be.  He said they text you your results and when I asked if it is something they can print for me he said yes (I honestly don't know anything about this service and if it would be printable).
So much can change between now and your sailing date.  I hope this helps!

I seem to remember that if you book with Next Cruise they automatically assign your booking to the travel agent who handled the booking for the cruise you are on, so if you're looking to change to a different then you need to tell them not to. As long as you own the booking you can subsequently transfer it to a new agent of your choosing within 60 days of booking, if you wish.

There are no cons.  Just pros of OBC, lower deposit and some extra flexibility in the near term with the booking.

We bought a Book Later certificate for a friend who's going to cruise with us next year.

I don't actually book my next cruise with the Next Cruise staff, I purchase the Next Cruise certificate, take it home and then either book with Royal or the online travel agency I sometimes use. All the benefits (reduced deposit, OBC) are still available. And you don't have to schedule an appointment, just fill out the paperwork they provide and drop it in the dropbox at the Next Cruise office area.

We book onboard to take advantage of lower (non-refundable) deposits and a small amount of on board credit.

They have our travel agent on file and the cruise is transferred when we book.

We have never found pricing to be any better at Next Cruise than anywhere else. We have always booked far enough out that there has only been one time we were able to reprice and save some money.  There was no issues with repricing that time, although as I remember, our travel agent did it for us.

As far as finding a travel agent, we have been super thankful to have the wonderful Michelle from MEI Travel as our travel agent.   MEI is a sponsor of this site, and I’ve never read anything bad about any of their agents.

It helps if you know what you are looking for before you go.  Reduced deposits and some OBC can be benefits but it really depends on your qualifiers.  Age, military service, police/fire, Crown and Anchor, home state, etc. all play a role on your cruise pricing and some of those may or may not be combinable with NextCruise OBC.
They tend to slant heavily towards NRD pricing but refundable is available for non-suites upon request.  Not always very attractive though once you switch to refundable.  The perks mostly align with NRD bookings.

I am definitely not holding my breath for another so-called sale. Since May of last year, when I L&S-ed from Allure to Harmony, the prices on my cruise planner have been systematically alternating back and forth between pretty much the same prices, to within maybe a dollar or two at the most, and certainly nothing that even slightly tempts me to get my credit card out. We would have considered a 3-night dining package if it had ever been offered at a sensible price but it's never, not once, in all of these months budged from $124. For that amount of money, we'll stick to the MDR. Voom has also been notoriously expensive for this sailing. Effectively Royal are pushing us to be "no-spend" cruisers. How can that be to their advantage?

Im nervous as the family will be doing our rapid tests Wednesday for our sailing Saturday.  I thought we would have to cancel under cruise with confidence and needed immediate test results on Wednesday to meet that criteria.  I feel so much better now!

I can come up with one reason. Liability issues.  If the bed is not available for room occupants and they want to take a nap/lay down at anytime during the day they would need to set it up.
