  1. I was talking to my neighbors at the pool this weekend (while drinking....so keep that in mind) and they explained that they had several bookings on NCL cancelled. They said that each time theyve been canceled on, theyve gotten 125% of their fare as FCC, and just booked for the soonest date possible. They said by now theyve got nearly double of their original fare in FCC. It was my understanding that, with ROYAL, if a cruise gets canceled on you and it was paid for using FCC you just got the value of the FCC, and not 125% more.  Am I mistaken? Is NCL doing something different?

No salted rim, no fresh lime, but I’m taking what I can get.

Does anyone actually drink frozen margaritas? Im an on the rocks, slice of lime, no salt guy.....

This past weekend: I dont know what youd call it...a pina colada variation, i suppose.....but Saturday by the pool i drank a good amount of coconut rum, white rum, pinapple juice, and coconut water with a lime slice, followed by a few Trulys from the wifes citrus pack. I credit the coconut water and hard seltzers with no hangover the next morning....WIN!

With what seems likely as the first step in social distancing, that being fewer cabins will sold to limit the amount of people on board and most likely those being the less expensive, inside cabins, how do you think this will affect the Royal Up program?

Id be surprised if there IS a Royal Up program, and if there is, it wont be a big savings. Probably wrong, as my wife points out, I usually am.

@SteveinSC Lol I don't think the truth is negative. I don't get how people can visit amusement parks, hotels, playgrounds etc or even fly. Yet have so much to say about cruises.

Oh, no....I was referring to me dodging people being irrationally against cruises. I typically find I don't enjoy the company of the types of people who are anti cruising, anyway.....so it works out, just fine.

  5. Can we find humor in a serious topic?  I, literally, joke about EVERYTHING. Nothing is off limits, in my family.....I cant tell you how many times ive typed replies on this board and thought......"better not...might be crossing some line." We figure, dont take anything in life so serious, because none of us get out of here alive.

As for the Tropical Party.....SIGN. ME. UP. I think Jimmy Buffett is on lifetime contract to perform at the convention.

Last cruise I learned an interesting fact...I enjoy Pina Colada's. I am also becoming quite creative. Here is my Pina Colada with a Strawberry Daiquiri "swirl" it was delish! We are planning a little beach getaway end of July / beginning of August ourselves, cannot wait.

Anyway - Cheer to you too!

Over the past few years, I've embraced enjoying fruity concoctions and things like Corona Refrescas and hard seltzers. My "coronavirus drink" has been Mai Tais, followed closely by Piña Coladas. Before it was all bourbon and craft brews. Don't get me wrong, I still love a good bourbon, and a good beer....but there is something about "vacation drinks" that just put me in a good frame of mind... probably the liquor.....but either way, enjoy! That sounds amazing!

  8. I have nothing to say, cruise related. Just wanted to say cheers, and hope everyone is having a great weekend. I'm spending the week at the beach with the wife and kiddos...NO WORK. It's not a cruise...but things could be worse.....

I hope everyone takes a moment, in the near future, to reflect on this time, and hopefully come away from it with a better perspective. Easy for me to say, I know, but all the same....hope we can all approach this crazy time with some positivity and optimism.

If you leave the language vague enough it can mean anything.  I dont know but you are right thats how Transferrable typically is used.  But in this case it could be used to say it can not be transferred to a new reservation also.  We as customers will never win.

Per the FCC terms and conditions, FCC is non transferrable:

    Terms & Conditions

Royal Caribbean International’s (RCI) “Cruise With Confidence” program allows individual guests and guests in non-contracted groups who booked a cruise on or before August 1, 2020, for cruises sailing between June 12, 2020 and April 30, 2022, to cancel their cruise up to 48 hours prior to the vacation start date and have the option to either (i) receive a Future Cruise Credit equal to the full amount of the cruise fare the guest paid for their cruise, or (ii) move their booking to an eligible alternate sailing and receive our “best price guarantee” for the re-booked sailing, or (iii) opt in for our “best price guarantee” on their current sailing. “Eligible alternate sailing” means a booking in the same stateroom category sailing with RCI on the same product and cruise length scheduled within four weeks before or four weeks after the date of the original sailing but in the subsequent year. For those sailings, RCI will protect the guest’s original price and/or promotion so long as the guest moves the eligible booking to the alternative sailing on or before August 1, 2020. If RCI’s “best price guarantee” results in a decrease in the guest’s cruise fare inside final payment, then the difference will be provided to guests in the form of a non-refundable onboard credit for use on the eligible alternative sailing. If RCI’s “best price guarantee” results in a decrease in the guest’s cruise fare outside final payment, the difference will be provided in a rate adjustment. “Vacation start date” means the date of the earlier of: (i) the scheduled embarkation of the cruise; or (ii) any pre-cruise hotel stay or Cruisetour package associated with the cruise and booked through RCI. If the guest chooses to move their booking to an eligible sailing in the subsequent year, any penalties previously assessed based on the prior sailing’s penalty schedule will follow the booking to the new sailing. The Future Cruise Credit portion of the “Cruise With Confidence” program will only apply to bookings for named guests for which cruise fares have been paid in full. If the guest opts to cancels his/her cruise, a Future Cruise Credit (FCC) will be issued for the cruise fare amounts paid to the cruise line. The FCC is non-transferrable and may not be redeemed for cash. The FCC’s value may be applied toward the cruise fare due on a new booking, on RCI for a sailing that is the later of on or before December 31, 2021, or 12 months after the date that the guest cancelled their original sailing . All bookings are subject to availability at the time of the request. If not used on or before the expiration date stated above, the FCC will automatically expire and have no cash value. Restrictions may apply on stateroom category and applicable pricing and promotions. Guest will remain responsible for paying the applicable deposit amounts, taxes/fees, port expenses and gratuities (if applicable) for the new booking. RCI’s “Cruise with Confidence” program does not apply to bookings made by residents of mainland China, and Hong Kong. Program does not apply to chartered sailings or contracted group bookings. RCI reserves the right to correct any errors, inaccuracies or omissions at any time without prior notice or liability. Offer can be withdrawn at any time without notice.

I would have thought that means you cant give it to someone else?

The way I read it, they would simply combine the FCC that you already paid on that cruise and the final FCC that would be created as a result of that cancelled cruise into 1.  1 FCC instead of 2 as a result.  Better....but they still aren't allowing more than 1 FCC to be applied to a booking, as far as I can tell.  I have more than a half dozen FCC's just sitting there waiting to be placed somewhere.  If I place one of the little bitty ones onto as very expensive cruise, then that cruise can never receive another FCC.  So I have to be very selective on which FCCs I place onto which cruise.  It's nice to know that if they cancel a cruise where I have placed an FCC (which has already happened), I will just get 1 FCC rather than 2....but that is not as helpful to me as a new policy which would allow multiple FCC's to be applied, would be.

    This all has me:

Figure It Out What GIF by CBC

So then, not at all what I thought it was. MY BAAAAD. I can see how that would be frustrating, especially at these times when cruisers like you have several cancelled sailings and too much FCC to juggle.

My only wish is that I can apply cruise credits from ONE CABIN to ONE CABIN how I wish. Meaning, we got FCC independently for me, my wife, and my boys in different amounts....I wish I could distribute that how I wish within the cabin. TA seems to think if she calls enough times, she should be able to get someone on the line that will do that....but yet to be determined.

This is a SLIGHTLY better policy than they have had in the past.  Combining the value of the FCC's will make it easier...but what I really want them to do is to allow multiple FCC's to bookings.  Combining the FCC's into 1 will help with that but it's still not what I want.  I am still going to ask for cash refunds rather than FCC's.  If they change their policy to allow multiple FCC's per booking, I would go back to asking for FCC's.

Maybe I misunderstand. The way I understood it, if you have multiple FCCs they will be combined into one.  So, there would be no need for multiples?

If they would let me apply more than 1 per cruise I would gladly take FCCs again.

Seems that, in these unprecedented times, when theyre allowing many things theyve never allowed before......this would be a no brainer?  Im sure there are a LOT of people that have had multiple cruises cancelled in all this.  Sure, from a business standpoint, I get why you would want one FCC applied to one cruise.....it encourages multiple cruises. But, goodwill and flexibility go a long way in business, also! I know that Im making a concerted effort to remember the companies that did things they didnt have to do during this craziness.
