Anyone know what is going on in Port Canaveral with shore excursions?  I have booked 4 different excursions and all have been cancelled. As well others that had been sold out are cancelled as well.

Not sure what's going on, but I'm in the same boat for my July cruise... 😔

Cancelled and re-booked restaurant package two weeks ago. Still haven't seen the refund posted back to my bank account. Does it usually take that long? Thanks.

It's definitely not unheard of.  Recently they've been much better at processing refunds more quickly, but last month I repriced a shore excursion and it took a little over a month for it show up.

It says that the price is per bed not per person....but when you put in 2 people the price is doubled?? does not make sense

When you make the reservation, you should only put one person in your party on the reservation.  Otherwise, you're booking two beds.  It's not terribly clear in the instructions, but that's the system! 🤷🏻‍♂️

Maybe on embarkation day they’ll just gather everyone who’s interested in upgrading inside Boleros or similar venue and hold a bidding war like the art auctions. “How much am I bid for this two bedroom Grand Suite? Going once! Going twice!…SOLD!..to the inebriated deluxe-drink-package-holder who doesn’t realize what he’s just done and his wife is going to be a soooo pisssssed!”🥴

As an additional potential revenue stream, I would definitely pay for a ticket to watch this auction happen.

While talking about the 2023 NE cruises.  I understand they go out of New Jersey. We’ve done NE cruises before but on Princess. We like to take Amtrak up for the cruise.  Is the Royal cruise port anywhere close to where Amtrak stops? Are there any hotels nearby we should consider for the pre-cruise night?

Nearest Amtrak stop is likely Newark Penn Station. Best bet for hotels is probably Jersey City. Ubers are plentiful in north Jersey, so while they're not walking distance (though I don't think I'd consider the NYC terminals walking distance from Penn, especially with luggage), they're not an expensive ride, either.

Amtrak Northeast Regional trains will actually stop at Newark Liberty Airport (EWR) as well, which is just a bit closer to Cape Liberty and prevents you from having to drive through downtown Newark.  Your Amtrak ticket also covers the cost of the AirTrain Monorail to the terminals.  I'm not sure if it's a much better option, just a different one!

I have to agree that there isn't enough information about the excursions from Royal.  I'm trying to plan excursions with kids and would love to know how long the ride is.

What I find disturbing is the highlight of the excursion is nothing more than a watered down of description of the excursion.

Agree 100% with these sentiments.  The Cruise Planner definitely doesn't do a fantastic job covering the excursions.  Luckily you can still get the "old school" descriptions, it just takes a little extra leg work.  If you go to https://www.royalcaribbean.com/beforeyouboard/shoreExcursions/downloadBrochure/ , you can get more thorough descriptions for the items listed in the CP.  The downloaded brochure shows all of the potential shore excursions available on your itinerary, so I check the CP for availability first, then look to the brochure to help me make final decisions.

Does anyone know what happens if I make a specialty dining reservation for my son who is 12 now but will be 13 before the cruise? Can I just pay the difference when on board or would I call Royal Caribbean once he turns 13 to make the adjustment? TIA

Unless I'm mistaken (it's been known to happen!), Cruise Planner should operate with his age the day of departure, not his present age.  On an earlier cancelled cruise, I was looking at pricing out The Key.  At the time, my youngest was 5, but he was turning 6 before we left.  CP required me to purchase for him, too, so it was factoring in his age when we cruised, not at present.  It was also the "old" Cruise Planner, so I'm not sure if that's a difference or not as well.

The casitas are not very big.  They typically contain space for two.  I don't think there is limit placed on them because you can't physically add more seating.  If you try to sit four people in the space designed for two I don't think anyone from the ship will stop you, but I can't imagine it would be comfortable for more than a few minutes.

Out of curiosity, how far are these from the pools?

I sing with a symphonic choir here in CT and we have singing  masks that fit to your face but create a pocket around your mouth to allow for better sound creation and breathing.

Most of the folks I sing with use something similar to this.  I tried one, and it's pretty effective, but it's so huge it actually ends up in my peripheral vision.  I just...can't. 😂

I have a combination of cloth and disposable mask in my rotation. I brought these for my last cruise

    https://www.amazon.com/Purple-Disposable-Breathable-Multicolor-Protectors/dp/B08SLVCSH3/ref=sr_1_3?crid=1VS7SKKHPQZV1&keywords=purple+masks+disposable&qid=1640989187&sprefix=purple+masks+disposable%2Caps%2C88&sr=8-3

They are 3-ply and breathable. I wear glasses and had no issues with them fogging up because of the bendable nose part. The N95 are too expensive since mask wearing isn't an often thing for me.

Why I am not surprised you managed to track down some vibrant purple disposable masks! 😉👍🏼

  11. As a teacher and a singer, I have to wear masks constantly while doing jobs that make wearing masks less than ideal.  Not as physically exerting as many other jobs to be sure, but having to project your voice and enunciate very clearly whilst masked isn't great.  I don't know about you, but to me the most annoying part about wearing masks are:

-having it press against your nose/mouth

-having it rub against the back of your ears

    That's why I love these:

    https://www.amazon.com/Halo-Life-Face-Mask-Ultra-Breathable/dp/B08FXY962N/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=KYDY7R79C1QE&keywords=halo+mask&qid=1640978226&sprefix=halomask%2Caps%2C77&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEzNEcyT0JVUTNaMzk5JmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwMDMyNTIwMUpSWUVBRUtGQUU5TSZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwMjEwMzAxM09QVTRaNzROSDJEQSZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2F0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=

They have a plastic post that runs down the middle of it so the fabric stays off your face (but not as extreme looking as the "bird beak" singer's masks or the N95s) and nice wide, adjustable ear straps so they don't irritate the backs of my ears.  They also have a removable filter for added protection.  They're not the cheapest masks, but I'm willing to pay a bit more for the comfort and design.  Just my two cents!

  12. Not sure about anyone else, but this afternoon a bunch of excursions for Orlando/Port Canaveral popped back up in my cruise planner (there had been none available since I L&S'd to an August 2022 sailing).  Most notably, the guided KSC tour is SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper than it was the past two years.  I'm not sure if it's an error or not, but I jumped on it!
