CrimsonCruiser got a reaction from PPPJJ-GCVAB in Freedom test cruise began today
I wonder how long it will take for the public to hear the results of the test cruise.
I also wonder if any of the volunteer crew onboard will take videos....I'm much curious. Plus...if they're volunteering to act like passengers, is this like a mini vacation?
These are the real questions. lol

CrimsonCruiser reacted to barjpoe in Main Dining Room Questions
I think what you might have seen would have been called the Captain's table. I saw once on formal night he was there with guest (Pinnacles or back before they had that status, most nights sailed) along with some other staff. I think the the highest I've seen and have sat at is 10 , but they might have upto 12.

Joey Tribbiani: If he doesn't like you, then this is all just a moo point.
Rachel Greene: Huh? A moo point?
Joey Tribbiani: Yeah, it's like a cow's opinion, you know, it just doesn't matter. It's "moo".

600 on board (I'm surprised it's that high) and one very unpopular CDC rep

Someone snapped a pic of the CDC rep

CrimsonCruiser reacted to Reigert2008 in NEXT Cruise
We have done it a few times. You basically get whatever incentive the ship/Royal is offering and make your deposit on board. They will send it to your travel agent for you for the rest of the paperwork and such. Sometimes you get a lower deposit or maybe onboard credit.
Every time we cruise, we take a list of possible weeks and itineraries that we think we want to do so that we are ready to pick one if the deal is right. Sometimes if you can move your selection up or down a week or two, you can get a better deal.
It also helps to look up some pricing ahead of time so you know a "ballpark" figure to compare to the NextCruise offer(s)

Oh it would be a shame to cancel this excursion! I loved it! You are right though, things will certainly change (probably 37 times) between now and then.

I can confirm that this was the case. We did take off our masks when we got to the beach/lunch destination.

I actually spoke to Royal after they posted this and they confirmed that’s suite guests can still go to the SL. the restrictions are just for C&A members.

CrimsonCruiser reacted to Jverge in New guidelines out for July sailings out of FL
Well that question is a sure way to get this thread locked. ?
I'll give my simple perspective... vaccines aren't as protective against the new variants/strains of COVID and the biggest threat is the Delta strain which is the cause of surges in the UK and is taking a foothold in the US. So even vaccinated people are still "at risk" of catching COVID, abet a milder form and hopefully not bad enough to allow that person to spread the disease (research is still out on that). On a cruise however you feel more "at risk" because if you catch COVID, you may have to cut the cruise short due to the protocols and I know I don't want that for me having waited so long to get a boat.

CrimsonCruiser reacted to ChrisK2793 in New guidelines out for July sailings out of FL
If they do force families with kids to be restricted because of the kids ….. I can’t see why any family with children would want to waste their money going on the cruise if the adults are vaccinated, but then are basically locked out of all vaccinated areas because of their children. Especially since it sounds like all the good things to do will only be for the vaccinated.
-
CrimsonCruiser reacted to smokeybandit in New guidelines out for July sailings out of FL
The whole reason is to try to discourage unvaccinated adults from cruising.
Also I found this interesting
"In the coming days, we are expecting updated guidance from the CDC on mask policies for vaccinated guests and will update you at that time."
To me that says by the time these cruises start, vaccinated people won't have to wear masks anywhere on the ship.

I can't imagine they would expect vaccinated adults with vaccine-ineligible children to be forced to eat in the non-vaxxed dining room.

CrimsonCruiser reacted to CruiseGus in Vax/Unvax Onboard Enforcement
I blame this on a failure of our federal government to act appropriately on the recommendations of the CDC.
We should have had a Federal mandate to mask, not let each state develop a hodge podge of regulations.
We should have made testing mandatory to fly domestically early on, we should now have a negative test result or proof of vaccination required to fly domestically today.
The federal government should have followed the science, much like your right to smoke does not eclipse my right to clean air, that is why all federal buildings have a ban on smoking and it is restricted to not within 50 ft of any and all entrances on federal property.
JMHO and you have a right to disagree

CrimsonCruiser reacted to ConstantCruiser in Royal Caribbean vs. Carnival
Freedom OTS was recently "amplified" (refreshed). That happened just before the big CDC industry shutdown. She looks to be in great shape.
When I first cruised Royal after sailing a bunch of Carnival I kept comparing small things like the buffet. "That's not how Carnival does it" kept on entering my thoughts. Then I let go and acted like I had never been on a cruise. With an open mind I started to prefer some things the way they are done on Royal.
When ever trying something new or different that's probably the best advice. Pretend you've never cruised before and go with the flow. Remember the magic of walking on a cruise ship for the very first time? Enjoy your Freedom cruise like that. Once the cruise is over and you are stuck back on land only then sit back and compare the two to see which checks more of the boxes on your preferences checklist.

CrimsonCruiser reacted to smokeybandit in (6.15.21) New Cruise Planner Sale - but no excursions reduced?
Just because there is a sale doesn't mean anything actually on sale.
-
CrimsonCruiser reacted to FionaMG in (6.15.21) New Cruise Planner Sale - but no excursions reduced?
I do not see anything different to all the previous "sales" they have been running over the last year. Basically they have just consistently yo-yo'd between prices during sale/not sale and absolutely nothing is tempting me to get my credit card out.
I can't help thinking this is a missed opportunity for revenue because some of the onboard stuff that doesn't cost them anything, such as the ship tour, cup cake classes, etc., could be discounted more to tempt people to book.

I am seeing new 25% off some excurstions for my cruise 5/20/22 on Oasis so I'm thinking yours was not one of the "selected". That does stink. Sorry.

CrimsonCruiser reacted to ConstantCruiser in Crown and Anchor Program Updates
The post was meant for Crown and Anchor members to inform Crown and Anchor members how Crown and Anchor benefits will change.
The real problem is that Royal hasn't communicated anything to anyone else so when the Crown and Anchor team sends out an update like this everyone else is left to make assumptions and draw conclusions beyond the Crown and Anchor program.
It seems like Royal doesn't want to say anything until the protocols are fully defined and cast in stone. The problem is they will never be cast in stone, they will continually change. It's time for Royal to tell all guests what to expect and qualify it with "this may change".
