Florida has declared wrestling (WWE) essential.

    https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/2020/04/14/wwe-deemed-essential-business-florida-coroanvirus-pandemic-ron-desantis/2987675001/

If wrestling on TV is essential to the Florida economy surely the cruise industry is as well.  Hopefully the cruise industry in Florida can get the same status at some point as we move forward.

Hold the WWE events on cruiseships ?

I have one on July 3 I'd honestly rather have them cancel before I have to decide about final payment.  Based on Carnival's action, I'm guessing Royal will also cancel only until late June for now.

it's not the cruise that i am worried about its the airlines and hotels  ? Right now their dates for changes are only up to end of May. My cruise is end of June so if RC cancel cruise i need airlines to extend their dates also, if they dont then i would be expected to fly ?

  3. At that time of year option 2 would be ideal weather wise, and would be a great cruise with lots of fantastic places to visit, and i think there was a TV show filmed in Croatia, cant remember the name of it! Dont think it was that successful ?  for me the greek option doesnt appeal as 1 greek island is basically the same as the next.

With regards Kirkwall i have never been, it is to Scotland as Hawaii  is to the USA, part of the same country but you have to fly to get there, ( thats where the similarities between Hawaii and Kirkwall end lol  ) Flights to Shetland are more expensive than a flight to Amsterdam, Barcelona or Rome so given the choice it's not somewhere i would pick for a vacation.

    2. I didn't realise that NYC airport only receives flights from Europe,  from what I've seen and read there was no isolation / segregation and testing done at any airport in the early days so couldn't it be just as feasible for infection contact to be made between many travellers from many parts of the world in arrivals and that contamination carried outwards.

JFK gets flights from all over the world

Without doubt this is probably how it spread, you could have someone from China traveling to Milan for a week, they come into contact with an Italian who's visiting Madrid the week after, once in Madrid the Italian hops on the Big Red Bus and sits next to a Guy from Brighton over for a weekend, Guy from Brighton heads home on a  flight to Heathrow where he bumps into a friend who's heading to New York.

I doubt Aus, USA etc are going to be allowing flights in anytime soon.

There are still flights between USA and rest of the world right now, they have never stopped!

Yes the amount of flights has reduced and a lot of flights are cargo but you only have to look at flight radar to see that there are still passenger aircraft flying between continents, right now Air Ethiopia  has a flight heading to North America, Swiss Air also , British airways is flying back from Maima, Egypt Air flight from Cairo to Washington.

Even when DT first banned flights from UK to USA people on FB Page ( NYC the place to be ) were STILL flying there for their vacation and posting pics from NYC in lockdown

. will be interesting what they do with 90000 crew industry wide, they cant keep them on the ships forever...

Aida which is part of Carnival are allowing those near end of contract ( 1 month ) to go home ( when they can arrange travel )fully paid until end of contract with an additional 2 month salary, those who still have majority of contract to do will remain on ships.

Makes a lot of sense given the dozens of flights between NYC and Europe daily.  From an airline perspective, NYC is the European gateway while major airports on the West coast are Asian gateways.

    100% correct

Cities in Europe such as Rome, Milan, Madrid, Barcelona and London are also very popular with Asian Visitors on vacation, all major cities that Europeans also visit, along with NYC which is on a lot of females bucket list of places to go. So the chances of virus spreading in Airports such as Heathrow, Rome etc or on flights to NYC is probably higher than on any cruiseship

Do people from RC read this forum?  If anybody from RC reads this post, i urge you to immediately put HEPA FILTERS on your ships.   As per CNN article in this link, CRUISE SHIPS do NOT HAVE THE HEPA FILTERS thus allowing viruses to spread via the AIRCON SYSTEM currently in place.  This is a simple and cheap solution which all cruise ships should immediately implement, excerpt as follows "

"Cruise ships in principle look like a building, so their air conditioning systems are similar to those in buildings," says Qingyan Chen. "There's nothing wrong with that in normal circumstances, but with a viral outbreak that's a problem, because the filters they use don't block viruses."
That means that the ventilation systems may have spread the virus from one cabin to the next, by recirculating contaminated air that contained tiny droplets expelled by sneezing or coughing passengers."

    https://edition.cnn.com/travel/article/airplane-cruise-hygiene-future/index.html

This is great news ? if its from cabin to cabin via AC only then im just going stay in the bar 24/7 from now on....  ???

  9. The main issue i see is when is the peak? In the UK we hit 1000 deaths today ? and in a broadcast from the UK Government they stated today that they are hopeful they will be able to keep the death toll caused by Covid-19 to under 20,000.... ( yes you read that correctly)  They estimate that the peak will hit in 2 or 3 weeks time.

Now Cruise companies need to get moving again as quickly as possible, simply due to the financial costs every day they are sitting still,  however as we have seen countries have peaked at various times as the virus spreads across the world, and to me here lies the problem,  People travel from all over the world for vacations not just cruises, i could fly from UK to New York for a cruise and the person next to me who is stopping in NYC has the virus, if i catch it from them,  then by the time it kicks in properly i'm half way around the Caribbean.

1 single passenger falling ill on a cruiseship due to Covid-19 may start this all over again...we have seen Ports not let ships dock and it is still happening (  SHIP OFF PANAMA  )

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but the UK is in lockdown.

Is it? wouldn't think so the way some bloody idiots are behaving!!!! Going to the park, having BBQ'S etc etc etc THIS is why it will get worse! if people cannot follow simple guidelines then stricter measures are put in place.

  11. Booked for FOTS end of june, in all honesty seeing how its traveled west from china to italy then spain, the UK hasnt even got started yet!

No matter what anyone thinks, This virus isnt going away anytime soon. And lockdown in countries will not only continue but get worse

Do i believe i will be able to cruise?

    No chance!!!!

Hopefully im wrong but i doubt i am

Well, there is no cruises going at the moment; and why is that...because of this situation we all face, real or not. Every TV channel, every radio station 24hrs a day it's ALL we hear about..this is for some an escape

Its healthy to discuss where we're at currently....ignoring it, like many did in the beginning...where did that take you? WHO said i ignored it? i just dont talk about it 24/7 because in all honesty it gets boring and as i have said " what will be will be" I can only ( and have ) followed UK Government instruction, if im struck down so be it, if its a choice between me and a youngster for the last ventilator then the youngster gets it.

Anyway, I'm not sure what you looking at on these board; but, approximately a third of the topics on this blog "lately" if not more is dealing, in one way or another, on this unfortunate topic....I certainly didn't create this thread...I'm participating in the topic that is presented, no different than others a participate in.  yes you are correct but everyone else is asking CRUISE RELATED QUESTIONS, they are not talking about leaked Chinese reports etc!!!!! THATS the difference others are asking for help with regards FCC etc for cancelled cruises due to the virus,

Well done video...little humor; but, a general informative tool for basic overall understanding how scientist reach their general conclusions, with what we're facing today.

Watch "COVID-19 Is Just The Beginning. Here's Why. | Answers With Joe" on YouTube https://youtu.be/AbKMNpYBCTc

Pretty sure most on here would rather watch videos of RC cruiseships as this is what the forum is meant to be about.

And im sure people log on here to get AWAY from whats going on with the virus, yet are constantly reminded, what next ? A live blog on a B2B isolation?

Lets get up our favourite cruise pics, funniest stories etc FUN STUFF not DOOM and GLOOM

  14. All lies !!!!!!!!!!!

According to a guy at work who spends FARRRRRRRRRRRRR to much time on the dark web this is all a conspiracy going back as far as mankind evolved, it's all to do with JFK, Disney, Tom Hanks, Royal Family ( The list is endless )  and we will all find out the truth soon enough!!

Am i concerned about Covid - 19? not really what will be will be!

am i concerned about guy at work ? OH YEAH .......

The world has gone absolutely crazy and where and how it started should be left to the experts to work out and deal with! we should not listen to rumours or random shit on the internet that NO ONE can confirm or deny because doing so may just create more issues

So, for those Royal ships that are anchored off shore do the staff and crew have to stay in their bunk room style cabins? Or does the ship Captains have pity on them and move them up to balcony cabins and let them enjoy the MDR, Windjammer  and bars? Or, do they come into port and disembark? I'm sure they all spend the better part of the day wearing out their arms with the "wax on wax off" routines of disinfecting everything and anything that does not move. And the entertainment performers????Curious. :27_sunglasses:

Friend i know who works for Aida cruises is stuck onboard for next 30 days, crew are entertaining themselves by playing games and having parties

Also, is a doctor going to expose themselves to possible legal action by signing the form without doing a very thorough exam of the person at the time of presenting it?

This is probably why RC is doing this! It's almost certain that if an elderly person went on a cruise and contracted Covid -19 the family of those concerned would be taking legal action against RC for allowing them on the ship knowing there was a chance they could get it.

Thanks to you both! @SpeedNoodles  and @dodgestang ... I know i shouldnt listen to these people and i definitely would be better off to leave a group like that, you are very right.  and... 100 per day??  who are these freakin' people?? geez!

They are people siting behind their laptops writing things which may be true but then again may not be!!  i could say i left $200 per day as a tip just to look good and appear better than others, but in reality i may only have left $50 as a whole like you did. People Bullshit just to look good ignore them and do as you wish.....BTW im scottish and the only thing we tip is our glengarrys lol
