CocoCay Pier

Pier won't be finished until January at the earliest.  They just began dredging the channel about a week ago: https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/2018/11/05/dredging-begins-perfect-day-cococay

Here is the most recent (AFAIK) list of when things will open.  I would take it all with a grain of salt and consider these dates the absolute best-case earliest they will open:

Quote
  • Up, Up and Away helium balloon, Chill Island, and Oasis Lagoon freshwater pool will open in December 2018.
  • The new pier will open in January 2019.
  • Thrill Waterpark, Splashaway Bay aqua park, the Zip Line, Captain Jack ’s Galleon, Captain Jack ’s dining and Skipper’s Grill dining will open in May 2019.
  • South Beach, Coco Beach Club and the overwater cabanas will open in December 2019.

The pier seems to be coming along.  We were there on Sunday and it seems to be about half "done" with a solid percentage of the underwater work complete for the rest of the section.

There is a ton of construction on the island, but there was peace to be found at the more remote end of the tram line.

My wife and I just got off of the Enchantment this morning after a three night sailing.  We were very disappointed to see the lack of progress on the pier.  One of the RC employees said it was only about 40% done.  There wasn't any evidence of work being performed while we were there.

Speaking of the Enchantment, we had a great cruise but "the old gray mare ain't what she used to be".  This is our first sailing on it since it moved back to Port Canaveral from Miami.  It had really degraded noticeably since the last time were were on it a year ago.  Lots of glaring rust, worn out carpets, weird smells, dented walls.  The metal ceiling on our balcony was falling pieces, thick paint was all that was holding pieces together.  It is in serious need of an overhaul.  Sad to see as it was always one of our favorite ships.  We still had a fabulous time and enjoyed Chops 2 of the 3 nights.  ?
