Wilson
REALLY hoping for a good cruise planner sale over the Labor Day weekend. Heard any rumors that there might be one? Does anyone recall if they had one last year? DocLC
monctonguy
I don't remember any good sales recently.....as has been stated here many times...it ends up being the same price at the end of the day..they just market and make it sound new/exciting and really ends to up to be a lot of nothing. their marketing department could save a lot of money by stopping all these "sales promos"...as they aren't sales at all if we are being honest with each other. Only time I have seen a deal in the past few years with Royal is by NOT booking directly with them. jticarruthers
BrianAlt
There will be a Labor Day sale. Of course the definition of "good" is in the eye of the beholder.
monctonguy
its not a sale if its the same price as before though is it?.......lol

LOL And with the Liberty situation (let's keep everyone in out thoughts from Texas) they need to figure out how to recoup from it. I will say though, they have shown very good will in this terrible situation.
jce2
I don't know....somehow saving over $200 by rebooking during the last sale sounds like a sale to me!

I did the same on both the drink package and excursions. Unless of course those are the true prices and it's just marked up the rest of the year? monctonguy
that's great that you saved...very few do. I have had my trip booked now for since January.,......I have seen about 10 "sales" so far...all of which cost more than what I paid by not booking directly with Royal! CruzinSince00
I'm also very interested in hoping they have a cruise planner sale for my April 22 2018 sailing. We are looking to get our Drink Packages paid and booked soon as it goes on sale (if it does). Our sailing wasn't included in the 4th of July sale they had. Also FManke, the OP said Cruise Planner so they are referring to stuff like excursions and drink packages.
Wilson
I agree that most sales for purchasing cruises tend to be "smoke and mirrors" and often don't result in additional savings. I am a true believer in booking as early as possible and frequently doing a price comparison. Booking through "Cruise Planner" is specifically for excursions, drink/dining packages, spa treatments, etc. This is the sale I am interested in. monctonguy
I am talking about the cruise itself....but I would be happy with savings on anything! My cruise for April 22 had the drink package on sale..but I didn't book it that far out..they don't need a year of holding my money....that's insane. True. I originally booked our Oct cruise in Feb. Since then the drink packages have been on sale 3 times. I'm sure you will be able to catch a "deal" again as it gets closer to your sail date. I got mine during the 4th of July sale, so about 3mos before cruise date.
ellcee
What's the best deal you've all seen in your time? I'm asking specifically about the drink package but I'm interested in general as well.
monctonguy
Best I have seen is 20% off...although some ppl have been lucky enough to catch it at 30% off for the drink package. Best deal I have seen is $169 plus taxes for a 4 cay cruise, which I booked!.....I booked a 5 day cruise for approx. $289 plus taxes....both of these were inside rooms. ellcee

In both cases, those discounts were in very early 2017. ellcee

KLA
I miss those drink package prices. :( Wilson
WAAAYTOOO
Other than casino rates, the best discount we've ever gotten on a cruise was 62% off [retail] an Owner's Suite on [5 night] Empress when those cruises first went on sale. This was a Crown & Anchor discount - the only one of its kind that I have ever seen. Of course, the story ended badly as they cancelled this cruise not once, but twice and we never went on Empress at all. But it's the best fare I've ever received on a non-casino rate cruise. I almost forgot about that mess. Still hope to sail on Empress someday - I actually had her booked for July of next year but I just had to cancel. :(
CruzinSince00
Anyone see any specials yet in the cruise planner?? I have nothing as of right now. Also stupid question but does the cruise itself need to be paid off before we will start seeing cruise planner discounts (on drink packages). I see one on Dinners and another on Voom. That is it for discounts. I am sailing Apr 22 on Jewel of the Seas.

There is a cruise planner sale on my group cruise (Harmony, 9-16-17) but there's nothing on sale that hasn't already been on sale that I can see. Whether or not your cruise is paid in full has nothing to do with whether you can take advantage of a sale or whether a sale is offered on your cruise or not. I wish I knew what criteria they used to determine whose cruise is going to get a sale and whose is not. I think they throw darts. NS8VN
I didn't expect anything for my Nov '18 cruise, but checked anyway and they did have Voom Surf & Stream on sale for 20% off. Figured it can't hurt, still have 450 days to either get a better deal or be glad I locked it in when I did! WAAAYTOOO
