No, no, no. I live 20 minutes from Port Canaveral. I love the closeness when we go on a cruise.

LovetoCruise87 got a reaction from Neesa in Allure & Symphony get test cruise approval
I agree with a post earlier. Royal should have just gone ahead and announced cancellations that would be caused by the test sailings instead of announcing the test cruises first. It's still a hard pill to swallow knowing your cruise is cancelled, but I would rather hear that first, than to be sitting in a black hole not hearing if my cruise is cancelled or not.

LovetoCruise87 got a reaction from cruisellama in Maybe I missed it port approval
Interesting. I just saw that last week the CDC gave Carnival the ok for test cruises out of Port Canaveral, Miami and Galveston. I would assume that RC has already been given the ok for Port Canaveral as well.

I went on a cruise one time and they did not have escargot! They told me there was a worldwide shortage of the little guys.

True. I find it interesting that the minutes stated this:
PROCEEDINGS: SETTLEMENT CONFERENCE HELD (VIA ZOOM) Settlement conference is continued to Tuesday, June 1, 2021.
Settlement conferences are different from mediation in that settlement conferences are usually shorter and typically have fewer roles for participation of the parties or for consideration of non-legal interests.
Maybe they are getting close to finishing this thing off.

LovetoCruise87 got a reaction from Cruising With JT in Freedom of the Seas first Test Cruise in July
According to the CDC:
The cruise ship operator must ensure all volunteer passengers have either: Proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 using an U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-authorized vaccine or a vaccine product that has received emergency use listing from the World Health Organization (WHO); or If not fully vaccinated, written documentation from a healthcare provider or self-certified statement that the volunteer passenger has no medical conditions that would place the volunteer at high risk for severe COVID-19 as determined through CDC guidance. -

So true, it is not news at all. One case and the media would love to see cruising never start back up. They love to hype the negative.
I would not be surprised if the day is sunny and one cloud appears and the media say what a horrible cloudy day it is.

LovetoCruise87 reacted to 0_0 in Why are the prices higher than usual?
This could be a "testing the market" situation. Happens every once in a while, like in real estate, a real estate agent will price a house above market just to see if it will sell or garner interest. If it works it pushes the market up higher... Alternatively, it could be they're expecting/planning to run ships at reduced capacity and have decided to raise fares to compensate for those losses.
IMO, I'd expect prices to normalize within 3-6 months for off peak sailings and maybe a year for peak time.

LovetoCruise87 got a reaction from WesKinetic in US cruises could restart soon with 'passenger voyages by mid-July,' CDC says
Very true, since they are saying you don't have to send them to us, send them directly to the CDC.

Eventually, a shift needs to happen with looking solely at case counts and the response from the government. Lockdowns and mask mandates have not shown to stop the spread of Covid. Just look at mask wearing compliance in Asia especially Japan yet cases are up. Targeted responses are much more effective. Protect the vulnerable. Vaccinate. Develop more therapeutics. Also when we hear case counts rising, we have no context. What is avg age of cases? And what % of these cases are asymptomatic? Are hospitals getting overwhelmed?
Covid isnt Ebola. Covid isnt SARS with 15% mortality rate. We have lost perspective on Covid. Covid is endemic and will not go away. It will eventually be less harmful. Zero Covid is a fool's errand.
When it comes to cruising. Yes, precautions need to be taken but lessons need to be learned from this last year and policy needs to be adjusted to curb some of this abuse of power we have seen including the CDC. As I stated before, we cant turn public policy over to any one government agency. Turning the cruise industry on and off is not the answer to curbing case counts. It causes too much human collateral damage which in turn cause their own set of health issues when people are unemployed and cant afford proper preventative health care. We have been too hyperfocused on Covid while ignoring a vast array of other health issues that resulted from lockdowns.
Its past time for the CDC to lift or strip away the most restrictive and unworkable parts of the CSO.

Two ships collided. One was carrying a load of red paint, the other a load of blue paint. All the passengers were marooned.
