GaryAA reacted to CruiseGus in Pre board COVID testing for ALL passengers from Florida Ports though December 2021 Now
based on the day of the test being day Zero (0) we can test any time the day before we board our airline.
If we test just before leaving for the airport of departure the evening before our 2 days in port
with a check in before 4pm we are still even in a 72 hour (3x 24) window.
guess that is the route we will try
personally i think its BS because if VAXed even if positive your viral load is greatly reduced
so your chance of spread to other passengers is much less, most VAXed are either asymptomatic or mild cases.
what i worry about is all the un-Vaxed spreaders out there giving me mild symptom that i can live with.
but what ever make the minority happy, guess we have to do

I’d never pick an inside cabin, reminds me of my Navy days on an aircraft carrier. We always get a junior suite or above near the rear elevator. Back when we cruised on Carnival, we were ok with cabins with just a porthole. Once we sailed on the Mariner in a junior suite on our first Royal cruise, that spoiled us.

Add me to the inside cabin.  Once and only once.  WAAAYTOOO small and dark for me.  We actually like to spend a fair amount of time in our room and there is just NOwhere to sit in an inside.  I will admit though....it's great for sleeping !
I also am not a huge fan of rooms all the way forward or all the way aft as that is a lot of walking for me.

I think that we all know that CoVid will more than likely never be a thing of the past. It is something that I'm sure will be with us for a very long time. I for one am not going to sit around worrying about this variant or that variant, or listen to all the negative news. Do I know people who have had the virus, yes I do, so I know what it's all about. But I can't live my life in fear and not do the things that I love to do. And that includes cruising. If for some reason my cruise gets canceled, so be it, I will just book another one. But I'm not going to cancel the one I have next month just because of a variant and what it may or may not do. Life is way too short not to enjoy it!!!

Stop watching the news, problem solved! ?  Most news networks ratings are in the toilet following the election and covid coverage so this is getting the attention now.  Now start packing those bags!

While I've only sailed the larger Voyager, Freedom, Quantum, Oasis class of ships, I'd like to experience them all. My preference is the larger ships of course, even though I don't have a comparison never sailing a smaller ship. Reviewing the floor plan and YouTube videos I see enough to deduce while it would be an awesome and intimate experience (with the sea - and those I'm sailing with - friends, family, etc) I'd be in it more for the itinerary than ship. To me, the larger ships are part of the destination.

We started out on the Voyager class but have been on the Freedom, Oasis, and Quantum classes too. We like them all and choose based on who is traveling with us (kids) or itinerary (scuba/snorkeling spots).

Did a 4 day on Mariner last February in a deluxe balcony room, me hubby & 10 year old grandson.  IMHO way too small for comfort even for a short cruise.  We didn’t even let them pull out the sofa bed because there was already no room.  Nothing below JS for us anymore.

here in the Midwest, at least where I'm from, we see very very few people wearing masks anywhere any more, even in most restaurants the servers have stopped.
it's been that way for the past couple of months already.
BTW @SpeedNoodles thanks for pointing out my mistake, that what I get for skim reading, I should know better.
Anyway i still ecstatic about being on a cruise again

    1.  I agree with @12thman.  I would NOT depend on RoyalUp if you really want a full suite.  Those chances are extremely remote.
    2.  GS - I am a huge fan of Grand Suites on all of the Royal Caribbean ship classes EXCEPT for the Quantum class (of which, Anthem is one).  Since you mentioned your mom uses a scooter, I would scratch this one off your list immediately.  The half wall where the TV is mounted in the Q class GS makes that suite VERY cramped and I would think that she would have a big problem with a scooter.  Frankly, I think you would have more room in your JS than you would in a GS on Anthem.  I will never EVER pay for a GS again on a Q class ship.
    3.  I have never stayed (or even seen) a 2 BR GS on the Q class ship so I really have no opinion about this one.  As long as the living area is not designed the same as it is in the 1 BR (with that half wall for the TV) you would probably be fine.  This might actually provide you with the most comfortable situation as you would each have a regular bed.
    4.  While I have never stayed in an OS on a Q class ship, I feel confident that you would have plenty of room for your mom's scooter in an OS.  Not only would you have plenty of room, but you would have a dining table and regular chairs in your suite so that you could enjoy a comfortable room service meal if you decided to try that.  With a full suite, room service is complimentary so you could have breakfast, lunch or dinner (or all 3 !!!) delivered if you chose to do that.  It's a very nice treat.
Honestly, if you are going to spend additional money, I would NOT waste it on a GS on Anthem.  I am fairly sure that you would have to completely remove the coffee table in the living room to be able to get to the bedroom with a scooter.

Marriott Biscayne Bay is nice. There is a “mini mall” that connects to the adjacent Doubletree Hotel. There are restaurants and shops in the mall. The port is a short cab ride away.

I'm not a fan of any shuttle services.  Most hotels in Miami are so close to the port that your best bet is to order a Lyft or Uber when you are ready to go on your schedule and the cost is usually reasonable.

I've stayed at that Doubletree mentioned and it was convenient with the mini mall with restaurants and walking distance to a grocery store.  Was a cheap Uber ride to the port.

disagree it is a 5-1/2 hour flight, there will now be drinks, the front restroom or rooms will be for first class passengers only, others will be directed to the rear, most likely served a meal.
Dont know the full price to determine if 1200-1400 is reasonable (you'll have to decide.  I just booked a 5 hour flight from ORD to SJU First Class after the first of the year for 750 more for 2.  That was 68% more than basic economy (no seat selection) but only 35% more than main cabin fare.
Have flown all three major lines UA, AA, Delta for business and although I no longer have it (retired) I had status on all 3 for about 5 years.  Delta service was and in my opinion still is the best especially in 1st class.
OP its your 25th, if it will not put you in financial bind, splurge you will not regret it.  My wife still talks years later about eating dinner atop the Eiffel Tower on her 50th birthday, expensive Heck yes, but I have absolutely no regrets, spending the most i ever have and probably ever will for a meal.

We flew first class to Hawaii 5 years ago and now we are spoiled. Ever since then we fly first class. We enjoy the priority checkin, free baggage, and no third seat to deal with. The extra snacks and meals on longer trips is nice too. Not sure it is worth it money wise but we still keep doing it....?
