This comes from the mouth of an idiot but on a serious note, why doesn't RCL create a gondola-like mode of transportation (just like a ski lift) to/from an airport to a cruise terminal??? In a circumstance where they are very close together like Fort Lauderdale or San Juan or Tampa.
Explain it off to the public that RCL is taking responsibility for it's passengers, reducing traffic congestion, eliminating chaos at the cruise terminal, and they are Saving Waves by reducing emissions on a meaningful scale.
In comparison to other recent RCL projects like making their pier in Miami 200' longer, their new corporate headquarters, or "amplification" of an already existing revenue generating ship; some gondolas, some cable, and some access to public ROW would be comparatively cheap. At this point in time RCL spends hundreds of millions of dollars on each of many infrastructure improvements. A guy would like to think they wouldn't bat an eye to a cheap one that took responsibility for their passengers.
Of course RCL would charge for the ride, just please God don't make it more than the cost of my flight.
But I'm not very bright....

I was afraid of the bottle breaking in my luggage, but that is an idea. Thank you. I'm glad to hear it has worked for others before.
I've also used these with success:
It's basically a plastic zip bag with a big "diaper" inside. There are some more expensive options out there that are also very good (Wine Wings comes to mind), but for the price, these can't be beat, and I love the inclusion of the absorbent material just in case the worst happens.

I geek out watching trip report YouTube videos...one of my favorite vloggers just posted a report on Brightline, and I thought I would post it here in case anyone is interested.
Nice vid, thank you for sharing!

Not expecting a mild, Disney type of cruise, but "girls gone wild" might be a bit much. Lol
This is a realistic expectation, and probably where your cruise will fall.

Should add that for my upcoming 14-night sailing in a pair of inside cabins, this translates to all of $56 extra on a cruise that is costing me over $7,000 just for the base cruise fare, never mind the excursions I’m booking. So it’s not remotely a 7% bump for me, more like 0.8%.
I do think it’s better to look at those service charge (yes, that’s what I’m calling it instead of gratuity) increases in light of the overall cruise fare, rather than by itself. Not as clean or straightforward, I know, because now it varies for everyone. But it also shows how tiny it really is in the overall budget, especially when it’s only done every few years.
Excellent point. Also, my guess is that the crew members working their butts off to make sure that we have an amazing vacation might argue against the increase having "zero value."

You can redeem the RCL credit card points to add onboard credit for your upcoming sailing.
You can also use them as a discount towards your cruise purchase price if you don't think you'll use all of your available points in OBC. They're available in increments of $150 (15,000 points). You'll save on the bottom line and be able to purchase the drink package at a more favorable rate. Same concept as @Ogilthorpe's idea, just a slightly different method.

Btw, what’s MDR?
Main Dining Room. Welcome to the boards! You'll catch on to the lingo pretty quickly, and don't be afraid to keep asking if you don't. They're a friendly bunch over here!

Thanks for the video and the pic, @Melodyjn! Very helpful! Having the crew actually bring some of the sea life on board is pretty cool. The biggest body of water either of my boys have been on is Lake George, so I suspect that this will be a hit! Out of curiosity, were there lockers near the pier where the trip departs from? We're doing the 1st tour of the day, so I'd like to avoid having to walk back to the ship to get stuff after the tour if possible. If not, c'est la vie! Sorry for the barrage of questions, and thanks again for the feedback!

I was there last week and they have some great excursions, we did the bottom boat tour and swimming with the pigs, you will need to sign up early to make sure you get a spot
I've been dying for some feedback on the glass bottom boat tour! My son is super interested in doing it, so I went ahead and booked it, but I haven't been able to come across any sort of feedback or details from those who have actually done it. So, @Melodyjn, can I harass you for some details?

@USCG Teacher safe to assume this method is best for disembarkation day? My husband gets on shuttle and gets car and my kids and I wait in the terminal? TIA
Hey Linda, sorry for the delay. This one is probably much more of a "your milage my vary" response depending on the port and its traffic patterns. To be honest I've never rented a car leaving the port, only arriving, so I'll have to defer to the many more experienced cruisers on the board...

Great info everyone, thanks!
@Matt does dropping off the family first at the port help the check in process along? Or is that just convenient if we have lots of luggage? We’ll only have one large suitcase, so I was thinking we’d return car and all (two adults, two kids and 1 bag) take the shuttle to the port. But total newbie here! Any tips are appreciated.Where it can really help is with the shuttle. As you can imagine, the rental location will be pretty busy with customers dropping off the morning of a cruise departure, and all of those people are looking to back to the port ASAP. Moving solo and luggage free makes getting on a shuttle much quicker and easier than having luggage in tow and needing four seats.

The other piece of the equation, even under ideal circumstances with highly trained and experienced crews, medical evacuations at sea via helicopter are always inherently risky operations. It is not worth risking the patient, the aircrew, or those in the immediate vicinity's health and well being to keep a few retail locations open a few hours more. RCI absolutely made the right call to forgo additional profits to protect everyone involved.

I usually hear back within 24 hours. Have emailed multiple times, as that is my preferred method of doing ALL business so that every communication is in writing.
While not that fast, I've never had to wait longer than 72 hours. And same as @SteveinSC, this is my preferred method of communication for the same reason.
