Bottom line right now is cruising is going be tough over the next several weeks with omicron skyrocketing the case numbers. The usual cruise experience likely will be disrupted in terms of entertainment etc as we haver already seen. Of course if increase cases are being seen among passengers it will inevitably spill over to the crew and entertainers. This is the unfortunate by product of focusing on case counts and testing especially in light of everyone aboard being vaccinated. 

We all know the deal about cruising in the pandemic. Any complaints are unrealistic. It infuriates me reading these articles in MSM from passengers who allege the wool was pulled over their eyes etc. the cruise industry needs all our support. 

Currently at MCO airport. I have yet to see any Covid protocols period except for masks. They jammed all of us into 1 car on the train to terminal B while the other 4 cars sat empty. Sanitizer stations are empty. No distancing markers. Bathrooms not clean.  If any of this was reported on cruises the response would likely be very different.

Did you sail on Symphony, Odyssey, or Oasis this past week and happy with Royal Caribbean’s approach to Covid protocols?
Please share your thoughts on how safe and effective the protocols were. Did you feel the ports are being unfair?

Agree with above , for us it’s more about the ship and experience  than the ports. Any frequent Caribbean cruiser has been to St.  Thomas ad nauseam. These ships are moving amusement parks. Most of us have been to most of these ports of call already.

Someone in one of the FB groups for the inaugural sailing on Wonder announced that they were cancelling, but they're in Star Class and don't want to spend Star money on a potentially less than Star experience. For me, we're in an inside cabin and care more about the ship than the ports, so I'm going to have a good time on my first Diamond cruise regardless of what changes might occur. Everyone's gotta pick their comfort level and decide whether or not they want to roll the dice or reschedule for a later date.

The BinaxNow test thru emed is the best and so easy to do. 

@wordell1 Amen to that! We are doing our best to make the best of it! Our last Xmas cruise on DCL 2019 was when we first caught Covid, before they even knew what it was, long story short. No more Xmas cruises for this family! We have 11 other months to sail!! Lol!!
We were looking forward to this itinerary a lot but it was not meant to be. I have a large balcony with dining table and room service is really enjoyable out there.

@NeesaSounds like you caught some bad luck on this one.  I'm glad you are making the best of it.  There are worse things than being caught on a cruise ship in a 2 br GS but I'm sure you wish you could have made your port stops.

I’m not sure how much capacity will matter right now with omicron seemingly this contagious. We made it thru the summer delta surge Without it translating into cases on the ships. It would appear that the next several weeks are going to be rough for positive cases on the ships. Just so annoying when we had just got back up an running. My wife and I were just on the 8 day odyssey sailing from 12/4-12/12 and we really feel like we dodged a bullet in terms of the cruise being Adversely affected by Covid cases. We had an awesome time and thought royal did a great job

I’m just not sure what more some of you think royal could do? Short of stopping cruises altogether, there isn’t much more than could be done that they haven’t already done. As matt has said , they aren’t close to full capacity yet. Again, I was on odyssey 11 days ago and everything was fine. This explosion in cases has literally happened overnight. We all know the risks when we book in this climate. It’s sucks for those no doubt currently on ships , but this too shall pass. Going to be a tough 4-6 weeks in regards to case counts. 

Yes I’ve heard that too! Delta took a good 3 months. This one may be finished in 6 weeks! Fingers crossed 🤞

This is absolutely correct. Omicron has been crazy with its spread.
