I don't see them deliberately or eagerly looking to abandon small ships, they'll go away through natural attrition.

Or they might pass them on to brands they are linked with. Marella (owned by TUI) currently sail 2 x Royal ships, Legend and Splendour and will soon be sailing 3 x Celebrity ships. I know Royal have a joint venture with TUI cruises in Germany, not sure if it extends to Marella in the UK.

    Hello from Germany,

in Sep. 23 we do our 2nd Cruise with RC, so we are not so familiar with al the rules 😉
I just saw, that our Price for the Cabin dropped a little. I remember Matt told in one of his great Videos,
you can reduce your Price to the new one via RC ServiceDesk. Anyone did that, and how?

And: if price drops again, can i ask for reduce several times?

    Thanks for Help!
    Mike

All depends on the terms and conditions Royal have in Germany, here in the UK we are unable to reprice unless we've booked through a US travel agent. Suggest you ask your travel agent (if you've used one) or give Royal a call if you've booked direct. You can reprice in the US multiple times and the cost of the cruise will be reduced, up until final payment. After that you may get OBC (I think)

I'm sure one of the team on here will know what's allowed in Germany and be able to advise.

  3. https://travelweekly.co.uk/news/tourism/holland-america-line-removes-need-for-pre-cruise-covid-testing

Holland America have also dropped testing for all on cruises under 15 days, no need for vacination or testing, come on Royal, time to catch up with the rest of the industry. Perhaps they will announce something later this week when the release their latest business update.

For UK and EU bookings there is a significant discount you can only get by calling (some have had success chatting on the website but I haven't).  GBP 43 pn.  I've heard it is now for new bookings only, but not sure how recently you must have booked for it to be considered "new".

I managed to add it to 2 existing bookings , both were a few months old. It's certainly worth a call, you'll never see a price as low as £43 on the cruise planner.

Sure is...or at least for ALL of my searches and inquires and quotes.(and I have done probably 3-400 in the past few months looking for/at cruise deals and options)

Ok...maybe 99% of the time..I willl give Royal a 1% chance that someone can find a better deal.

Feel free to send me links to all these cheaper cruises and drink packages you seem to know about with Royal.

Find me a Royal Caribbean cruise for 6 nights to Bermuda or 8 nights out of Puerto Rico in 2023....Bermuda needs to be around $499 USD taxes and drinks in.....San Juan needs to be $599 CAD with drinks and taxes in.

    Good luck..lol.

    Thanks.

Found these for P&O and Princess, backs up your viewpoint the Royal is charging more than others for their drinks

Once you factor in the free Diamond and above drinks Royal may be cheaper but if you are just buying the odd glass of wine/cocktail they're pretty expensive.

  6. If I read this correctly Carnival now only requires testing on cruises over 15 days, all cruises of 15 days or less don't require a test, regardless of vacine status, it feels like normality is returning

Carnival has sent out a communication to booked guests, letting them know about the changes: “Consistent with the evolving public health guidelines, we have continued to update our protocols over the last several weeks.”

“In summary, vaccines, proof of vaccination, and testing for unvaccinated guests, are no longer required on cruises of 15 nights or less. However, we encourage all guests 5 years and older to take a pre-cruise test within three days of their cruise.”

Doesn't look like you can... seems like it's effectively just an extension of the cabin with a large window that opens. They look really nice, but I'm not sure how they keep the heat out of the rest of the cabin with the window open. I'm assuming you lose the benefits of a traditional balcony which keeps the sound and heat out of the cabin with the balcony door closed.

It's not a balcony, it's a cabin with an opening window. They've had very mixed reviews on the Celebrity forums.

  8. Not before time, hope it's successful and if it is Royal adopt this approach

“Team members monitor sun lounge usage and if they observe a seat that contains a towel or personal belongings but appears to be unoccupied, a notification is placed on the chair indicating the current time.”

The notification is usually a piece of tape of a small sticker which is used as a visual sign that the guest is absent.

The policy ends: “If the chair remains unoccupied for 40 minutes, the contents are removed and held for the guest’s safekeeping.”

Guests’ belongings will be removed from the lounger after 40 minutes have passed if the passenger doesn’t return.

  9. We're interested in a cruise to the Galapaogos on Celebrity Flora, however my wife is concerned that it appears many of the excursions are based around snorkelling. As she's not a strong swimmer she's concerned that she might have to miss many of the trips. Can anyone offer an insight on the excusions that are included as part of the cruise?

In the store when I was searching there was a young man searching for baby wipes as they ran out for their little one on this voyage, none. I was surprised another essential type travel item that could have some $profit$ attached for sure. I think RC misses simple opportunities when it comes to "shopping on board"

Sadly they're too focussed on big ticket items that probably rarely get bought but have a huge profit on them.
