PhantomWolf got a reaction from Lovetocruise2002 in Procedure for opting out of adjusted cruise
I know this wasn't for me but I figured I'd share.
Spent 2 hours and 18 minutes on the phone.  Maybe 8 of them speaking with a real person...the rest was repetitive ads.  (Did you know Jamie Oliver has restaurants with RC?  I will have nightmares about this)
Since I know that it is chaos down there I tried to be nice and joking with the people I spoke with.  The first RC person I spoke with wasn't helpful and didn't listen to me but she at least got things started.  Receiving 100% credit for the sailing to use at a later date and am getting money back for the drink package and excursion bought with my credit card.  There was still a sizable shortfall with my Air2Sea booking.  She said that was non refundable.  "Not acceptable, transfer me to someone who can help me".
Representative from Air2Sea was helpful and was able to get me a credit through the airline.  So now I will be calling them up to see what my options are, but at least I'm not being forced to make the choice of flying into a hurricane damaged area with no place to stay for a few days, or lose my money.  Once done with him I was transferred back to RC's line so I could confirm that my booking was in fact cancelled.  Come to find out the first person didn't even finish cancelling my booking and I fear I would have been on the hook if I didn't not ask for the confirmation.
Should be receiving the voucher around September 20th.
    Good luck everyone!

I'm over forty minutes in...its continuous ads, I would kill for some regular crappy music at this point!
Last night after feeling insulted by the Navigator 2 night sailing offer (not paying for airfare and using my limited PTO to have half a vacation to then have to fly again to use the other half of my missed trip) I tried to call their "24 hour line".  Even tried the line the RCtwitter person gave me...got the same "office is closed" answer and got disconnected.

Your paperwork/receipt from Air2Sea will show your actual airline confirmation number. Use that to access your reservation directly with the carrier and confirm you have seats (you probably do). Then use it again at 24 hours prior to actually check in and print your boarding passes.

When we did it a few years ago Royal gave us seat assignments but we checked in at the carrier's website to get boarding passes.  The carrier actually fiddled a little with the flight times before we actually traveled, and they sent us revised itineraries.  I don't know what the latest practice is, but you do need to know your seat assignments somehow.

If I stated this b4 I am sorry.
Security on the Adventure was amazing.
    1. Towel station.  A passenger saved 8 chairs at 7 a.m.  By 9:30 a.m. their towels were returned, but their items were left by the chairs.  The attendant said you broke the rule that is stated everywhere...30 mins.  You now owe 200 bucks for the 8 towels because you didn't check them back in.  They got testy, security was called and they were told that if they did not back down they would be escorted off tomorrow at 8 a.m. when we docked.  They immediately backed down
    2. My SIL looked very flush when she was walking on the pool deck.  A security officer said to her sit down now.  He went to the pool bar got her a bottle of water and watched her drink it.  She was over heated.  She wanted to leave them, and they said no, not unless she walked back to someone that was traveling with her.  I was in the Solarium.  They brought her back, and I said, no, I know her, she is very fair skin and what you think is flushed it really is sunburn starting to show.  They stayed another 10 mins to watch over her.
    3. At night 3 I went up to the blue moon bar, deck 14.  I get on and find 3 kids, ages 8,10 and 12.  The 10 yr old that day had to get 5 stitches at Horseshoe bay (grotto area) her shin is wrapped.  I make small talk and ask how old are they.  They told me.  They were going to deck 5 Promenade, my cabin was on 7, but decided to go to 4 to Schooners.  I told the bartender that there are 3 kids under 12 riding the elevator....I knew this also because they said that as soon as they hit 5 they were going to hit 11 (pool)  2-3 mins later security was at Schooners asking for descriptions of the kids.  These are the balcony style elevators so you can see everyone.  I ordered a bottle of water, went to the elevator and as mine was going up the security guard was coming down with the 3 kids.
~ I don't know if this was because of Freedom, but I remember thinking what kind of parent are you?  Who lets an 8 yr old that just got stitches to wander a ship this size?  The promenade staircase is marble.  The pool deck even at that hr can still be slippery.  Those handrails for a 10 yr old truly are an issue if they want to get a close up look at the sea when you are talking about being with other young kids.
    4. Night 4 we were walking the deck and 4 18+ yo boys decided that this was the running track.  They got nailed, and I watched security ask let me see your sea pass card.  He said something on the walkie talkie.  Next thing I knew was they were being escorted off the deck...my guess back to their parents cabin.
I was really impressed with security, even though they made me go through the screener 3 times each time.  I have a metal knee cap and a hip.  I would tell them this before I entered.  I'd beep, they send me back in again.  It always ended the same way.  Do you have a phone on you? NO.  Do you have any jewelry on you? Yes, just my wedding and engagement ring.  3rd time...do you have any metal in your body?  You mean my right knee and hip?  Yes.  Okay...go through

Former bartender here...you are basically ingesting poison and your body is supposed to be angry with you after a night of heavy drinking.  There is no "cure" but you can do some things that will lessen the pain.
    1.  Hydrate: before, during, after.
    2. Nutrients: vitamins, electrolytes, sure a banana wouldn't hurt.
    3. Have some food in you to help slow the absorption of the alcohol.  (your body can only process/get rid of so much in an hour, it will stay in your blood until then)
    4. Know your body! If you have personally been victimized by tequila in the past...maybe avoid that shot at the end of the night.  Vodka or wine gives you headaches...you know what to do.
    5. Be safe and enjoy everyone!!

Goal: retire and ship hop all over the world.
Maybe have a place where I could store some belongings and swap out clothes after awhile.  Otherwise just travel and see the world while being waited on.

Majesty (Western) in 1995!  My daughter was just going into the 11th grade.  Wow - seems so long ago.  We had our one and only inside cabin.  It was so small that we had to go out into the hall to change our mind! LOL.  One night we had very rough seas and walking back to our room we were all over the place.  My daughter was laughing saying that everyone would think that she was drunk!

Went on Majesty of the Seas back in 97, when she was one of the newer ships.  Will be headed back on the water this fall and am looking forward to doing things that I couldn't do when I was 10.  I'm sure Navigator will be quite the change from what I saw 22 years ago.

You've got it backwards. You get a discount for allowing RC to choose your room.
As for "needing to pay more", this is no different than if you book an airline flight and select a seat with extra leg room or an emergency exit row seat. Preferred room options come with a higher cost.
In your original post, you wrote in big, bold letters "assuming this meant", so yes, you did assume.
I understand this isn't your first foray into travel, but cruise vacations are different from land vacations. I'm not sure why you did not stop when you reached the point of not seeing the options you expected and completed the booking.
I'm sorry your first experience was not to your liking, but I think your experience and/or expectations were out line with pretty much everyone else here. If you think you've discovered some vast conspiracy by Royal Caribbean to dupe their customers, well, I'm sorry to say that simply is not the case.  Reading your experiences speaks to a first time cruiser who made assumptions and ended up with a different result than they expected.
My advice going forward is to give RC another try, but employ some of the advice and strategies we all happily share.  I think with a bit more footwork, you could easily come away with a great cruise vacation.

Well it really depends on where you are going as well.
    1. You might not be able to board the ship.
    2. You  will be fine.
    3. You will be detained, imprisoned and executed.
Number 3 is not that likely though.

The pricing above linked by  @DDaley should be pretty close while in the EU.  Onboard purchases will be in $USD.  VAT may be applied to on board purchases as well.
To give you about coffee products, this menu from Navigator will give you an idea of pricing:

Once forgot our son Kevin while leaving on a family vacation.  Was quite easy since it was a large group and we were running late for our flight because the power went out during the night...international flights don't wait around so we had to run through the terminal.

I've been looking at lists and tweaking them for things that will fit me and my trip.  Thanks to this blog the odds of me forgetting something important have decreased.  But when I do inevitably forget something...I'll be here in September to share my experience. ?
