  1. Luggage tags and the Apple Air Tags are items that go on and in every single bag that I have, regardless if I'm checking them or not. Had one bag of my mom's almost end up on a different cruise line (even though it had RC tags) and we were able to locate it before sailing. And the next trip I nearly had the same thing happen to one of mine, I just happened to be watching for it. It might be unnecessary to put them on the unchecked bags, but I always feel better having them on there in case I walk away from it and leave it for awhile. Things happen while using the deluxe beverage package from time to time.
  2. Was hopeful. 7 night sitting at 35% off (67.99). Have not seen it lower for Independence. Though I have been able to snag some good dining deals.
  3. RIP Majesty Would have loved to see your badge from my first sailing. In other news, how did Royal know I needed another vice of trying to complete "quests" to 100 percent...
  4. Hey come on now I know this game. You're going to try and tell me that it was my parents all along or something like that. But I've been to the mall and have met the easter bunny and Santa personally!!
  5. Love Hideaway Beach!! Sometimes the price is high but if you watch the planner you can find a good deal on it. Heated pool is nice during the colder months. Music from the dj brings a fun vibe. Plenty of food options around and its not too crowded there. Good view of the ships and the ocean from it as well.
  6. I'm happy to report that even after 12 months you will find that the water is still wet.
  7. I'm a 6'1'' 240 pound guy that wears either an XL or 2XL shirt and I'm here to tell you to not waste your money on the robes. The length of the "arm" went to about halfway down my forearm and even thinking about tying the sash was laughable. It was free because of Crown and Anchor so it didn't bother me, but I would hate for anyone to be out some money because of how small these things are.
  8. I will sail on a few Oasis class ships and report back as soon as I can. Thank you for giving me another reason to sail!
  9. Can confirm Liberty needs a bit of work. Doesn't even have the freestanding Coke machines. The bars are busy enough, I don't need kids there as I'm ordering my 7th Coco Loco of the afternoon. Adventure was fine but a refresh wouldn't hurt.
  10. Was on Liberty for New Years and they did not have the freestyle machines.
  11. Was pretty bad over Thanksgiving. Was toned down a bit on the New Years sailing.
  12. I just wish that teens wouldn't sprint around the ship looking for these things. I'm a PE teacher and even I'm finding a lot of what the kids are doing to be reckless.
  13. I never saw any of it as an extra hassle for one person. I loved my solo cruise from two years ago and would go again. Went for a normal interior room versus the solo room. Little extra space goes a long way. Enjoy your future trip!
  14. So a lot of skipping the smoke or extra spending I see
  15. Was looking at deck plans last night and I was wondering if there was a spot that you normally skip and pass on. Either by choice or you never really think about it while on board. For me it seems to be the Star Lounge. It seems like a place that I would like the feel of, but I never think about actually going down to it. I also typically forget that the card room and library exist but I figure that is common. My daily stops are usually the Solarium Bar (or one that doesn't have a lot of people by it), a hot tub with shade, food sources, the Schooner Bar, and at least one stop to see people attempt to surf (crash) at the Flow Rider. And we can't forget the dozen stops for ice cream.
  16. 4 is larger than 2... so you aren't wrong. Honestly I think it has to do more of the makeup of the people on board versus the number of nights. I had the most fun I've ever had on an 8 night sailing in the Schooner than any of the other length of sailings because of the people that were around. I am hoping the 4 nighter coming up over New Years is a bit of a loud party atmosphere.
  17. Likely won't do a Thanksgiving sailing again. It was a good idea at the time because of my schedule, but I really don't want to deal with the inflated number of kids and teens on this type of sailing. Dropped the ball and should have done a little more research on it before booking, but I was excited and booked it as soon as I had the chance. This sailing, while good, probably wasn't worth the inflated cost and I would have been better off pushing it back towards the spring or summer. Again just too many kids during this 8 nighter and far too little supervision. I LOVE looking for ducks as much as the next person, but the amount of sprinting around the ship and elevator riding was a bit much from large groups of teens after dinner. I am still excited to see what the New Year's cruise has in store. Fingers crossed.
  18. Hefty cost being $300 to reserve a spot for a regular season NFL game time slot during Thanksgiving. Just a table, some wings, 2 apps, and maybe some drinks. I laughed and went on not overspending for something like that. If I know I can get the game on the room TV, I'll spend a little bit of money on ordering room service and get some wings and fries from there. Run out and get a drink or three from one of the bars while the order is being prepped.
  19. Hoping its a fun 4 night sailing to ring in the new year. December 30th to January 3rd, CocoCay and Nassau. As of this posting, we have 25 days to go!
  20. Nearly lost luggage story I took my mom out for a Thanksgiving sailing this year. We took a shuttle from our hotel that was independent of Royal. We were stop number three to get onto Freedom, the problem was, our driver dropped one of my mom's bags off at the Celebrity ship that was the first stop. Thankfully she put one of the Air Tags in her bags for the first time and with some help, I was able to track down her lost bag. Cannot recommend the tags enough and will never travel without them again. I will also now be getting off the bus/shuttle at each stop to ensure that my luggage is not incorrectly taken off. So lost luggage is high on my list of fears.
  21. 30th (New Years Cruise) on Liberty
  22. I was on Adventure earlier this summer and they limited what I could order at one time. Tried to do two types of burgers for myself and then split various sides with my girlfriend but they were making me/us finish the first order before any additional items could be ordered. So it was one burger and a side at a time.
  23. I'm on the sailing before. Will try to leave some booze and a few slices of Sorrento's for you guys. Getting close!!
  24. I did not expect to find a Nietzsche quote here on the blog this morning but I am pleasantly surprised. I'm conflicted here. The poster is going to become a chair hog which we all find annoying (chair hogs, not the poster). But they are making the change intentionally to enjoy what they have spent money on. I guess I'm okay with this as long as you are actively using the chairs at some point.... the duality of man is fun.
