All the above posts should give you an idea as to how we all roll... If you are cool and not a jerk you are ok. If you are hot even better...lol

Look, if I were to see someone wearing non-gender conforming swimwear, I would a) mind my own business or b) compliment them because they probably wear it better than me. Do what you want. There are always going to be people who think their way is the only way, no matter where you are. Most of us, however, don't care what you wear.

On a scale of questionable attire at the pool, I’m guessing your partner won’t even be CLOSE to the top!  Life is short, do what makes you happy & to you know where with the haters.

I identify as a man and often wear a bathing suite top along with my board shorts. My top of choice is a rash guard and I have never received any weird looks or opposition from other passengers.
    I hope this helps.

Baked Alaska reacted to Plasticbrain in Explorer Oct 2024 sailings cancelled/changed
Hello! Just wanted to update on this.
When it got cancelled I sent them one email, and Later when I did not hear anything I sent a new one.
About a month after cancellation i got a final NO from RC Norwegian customer service on refund for my flight, even if KLM and travel insurance said RC should refund me. I was not happy but I put it away, however 2 weeks ago the US customer service replied to my 2nd email, and confirmed that they had talked to KLM and that RC would refund me 3900kr (380$) for my flight, and today I got the refund. I must say (sorry If I am prejudiced) that I never thought US customer service would be more pro customer than the Norwegian one, taking in regard we have one of the worlds strictest customer protection acts, however they proved me wrong. And this has definitely made me view RC in a totally different light, and made me look forward to my upcoming cruise with Oasis a lot more than I did, and I am sure I will spend way more than what it cost them to refund me in the future, and ofcourse talk good of them to followers, customers etc. so It will definitely be worth it for them. So a happy ending to a sad story!

Falmouth has a half decent and secure port area with various vendors. Worth at least getting off the ship for a bit.  Just not a great spot for excursions

I sail on Icon in about a month. My royal up bid was sitting as "submitted" for about 2 weeks. Now it says pending and won't let me modify. Should I consider this a pretty good sign it was accepted?

We have been to Labadee many times and love it.  The speculation regarding how unlikely it is that the unrest would affect Labadee is a mute discussion.  The U.S. State department has said there are hundreds of U.S. citizens in Haiti wanting to leave and they have no plans to rescue them (said in briefing today, 3/15).   If there was a negative passenger outcome at Labadee with this backdrop, RCL could potentially face hundreds of millions of dollars in civil damages from gross negligence for passenger outcomes including wrongful death.  Legally, the risk of this outcome would be deemed "foreseeable" with Royal breaching it's standard of care.  Royal had no choice.  Passengers can't assume the risk, Royal owns the risk.  Frankly, I'm surprised the Royal lawyers took this long.
I love Labadee and hope the situation is resolved soon.

Would *I* wear shorts or formal night?  No.  Getting dressed up and having photos taken is something my family really enjoys while cruising.  Would I spend a single nanosecond worrying about, criticizing or critiquing a fellow guest who opted to wear shorts?  Also no.  We get dressed up because we like to, other people prefer not to go through the bother because that's what they like.  In the end, we're all there to enjoy ourselves!

Have on clean clothes to be respectful (and sanitary) of yourself and others. But shorts, no shorts. Life is too hard and too short to worry about what others may have on etc. It's your vacation. Enjoy.

Last cruise we signed up for a Learn to Play option via the Cruise Planner.  I think it was $20, gave us $20 worth of chips (whatever the cost was that was the value of chips we received), and 2 free drinks.  It disappeared from the cruise planner not long after we booked it, and I haven't seen it offered on any of the Cruise Planners since.  I keep hoping it shows up again for our future cruises, because it was a great deal!  Even if it doesn't come up again, I will definitely go to the Learn to Play sessions anyhow.  It was nice to learn in a relaxed environment - I'm too chicken to play when people are around.

100% this! I worked in casinos and have played in casinos, when some self-proclaimed expert would get mouthy/uppity, I would generally in a less than friendly manner direct them to find a higher-limit table if they were uncomfortable playing with less experienced players.  Everyone deserves a chance to sit at a real table and play for fun and to be comfortable doing so.

"Serious" but lacking in the understanding of the math of BJ. When someone at the table makes a play that isn't mathematically correct, they are just as likely to help others as hurt them.
If someone doesn't like how you play, tell them to go find another table. It's your money and your right to play however you want.
That said, it is obviously beneficial to learn proper basic strategy... but to help yourself, not others.

The Casino runs "learn to play"  for the tables.  It is typically on day 1 and day 2 of the cruise.  It is helpful.
I've sat at three card poker, unsure of things and others will help, and the dealer will offer their thought if you ask.  *you are not competing with anyone so it's a "no stress" in that regard.
I understand serious Blackjack players do not appreciate the newbie because you can "screw them up" (I've no idea if it's "real" or if  it's just perceived to be real).  I won't play blackjack for that reason.
Slots, I finally took it upon myself to play something other than video poker, sat at some giant machine in a series of 3, and asked the lady next to me if she could explain the game.  She was AMAZING, and took the time to tell me what I was looking at, hoping for etc....and how she does her bets-and how I could do mine, etc.  If a question came up she would answer it for me.  We sat for quite some time together and she trusted me enough to watch her machine while she hit the ladies room.  I think most players will share how to play a machine.
As a person who dabbles in gambling I tell those newbies who sit next to me. and see a huge win, "you've not seen how much they have lost before you got here", "bets are subjective to be large-their income can be hundreds of thousands a year or more", "someone can be looking at your bet and be thinking -how can he bet that much", "don't forget to tip the dealer on a good win", "have a set amount to gamble for the cruise and don't exceed it, no matter what".
I also inform them of how to get their freeplay ( you can see the casino host for info on that) and that they should check for earned freeplay on the last night of the cruise, as well as the tier level system and how to check for that with the casino host or online and the final, to look for the "free cruise/$ off" a cruise offer that is currently onboard.  It would suck to find out you were only 30 points away from a free cruise (that might be the only time I would consider playing additional funds if I spent my allowance)

Excellent video @CHRIS WONG.  Watched it on YouTube yesterday.  Will the casino staff provide any guidance/help on how to play the various games and gamble onboard so we can give Royal more of our money? 😀   Do the experienced gamblers get frustrated with the newbees who are trying to learn?  Any thoughts or recommendations for how to best get started playing in Casino Royale?   Thanks!

Don’t count on more spots opening up. It’s quite rare for it to happen. You should look into booking something through a 3rd party excursion vendor

Viator and Get Your Guide will have plenty of options and they have a good cancelation policy.

Have you looked for an independent excursion through a site like TripAdvisor/Viator?
If you're not comfortable, that's fine, but you'll likely find many more options with better prices.

I didn't plan to do a full live report from this short 4 night cruise on Liberty from Port Everglades with a single stop in Labadee, Haiti.  However Haiti has been in the news lately and so I thought I'd at least post some Labadee photos to illustrate Labadee is still as beautiful as it has always been.
I booked this cruise at the last minute just three days before the sail date.  Haiti has been in the news since before I booked this cruise yet on Friday morning when I saw a relatively okay cruise fare that was open for solo cruisers to book I had no hesitation booking this cruise.
I've been to Labadee countless times and I'm very familiar with the social economic and political background of Haiti.  There is no need to visit any of that in this thread.
I'm here in Labadee as I write this, back on the ship after a two and half mile walk around Labadee.

Spoiler alert - It's still beautiful here and I still love Labadee.
    Next up, some photos...

Spoke with my genie this evening. It seems I’m not alone in my complaints with the class. They are awaiting word on the proposed resolution. I feel strange as I’m not asking for a refund or anything of the sort. I don’t want people to experience something that I loved doing and really pumped up my kid in anticipation only to see it done half-a$$ed.
