MarcD
I have $150 onboard credit for an upcoming cruise. I'm sure I will use it all, but if I don't, what happens to the unused onboard credit?
smokeybandit
Don't forget about daily gratuities. That's an easy way to eat up OBC.

Well then if you have any OBC left, on the last night go to the casino and charge whatever is left to your casino account, then you can cash it out as cash. I'm sure I will use it all, but if I don't, what happens to the unused onboard credit? It depends on what type of OBC you have - refundable or non-refundable. Most sources of OBC are refundable which means if you have any left over, they just refund it to your card on file. If you have any non-refundable OBC, Royal will use it first to reduce the chance that you lose it. If you do have any left over, you can use the casino method described above. You can check with guest services on board to see what type you have. (Or if you describe the source of your OBC, someone here may be able to tell you if it is refundable.) Thanks. It's from the RCCL Bank of America card. Booked and paid for my cruises using this card then paid off the card. I have $50 credit on Wonder and $150 credit for another cruise. Pooch
Cash it out at the casino. We had $110 left on our last cruise. Cashed it out & used it for tips on the last day. MarcD

TXcruzer
What is this “unused OBC” you speak of? My wife said such a thing does not exist!! Td6462, ckruetze, WAAAYTOOO and 6 others 1
Pooch
I almost never spend any OBC on board. We prepay gratuities, get 4 Diamond drinks each plus my 2 bottles of walk on wine, 2 days of free internet, 2 free photos. So we cash it out for additional tips. Pooch
At retirement + age, I have only been in a land based casino twice in my life. On a cruise ship, only to cash out OBC. Just an activity I have never had any interest in. IMO, handing money over for absolutely nothing in return

As far as the casino goes......I see value in it as it is my entertainment, most times I earn a cruise that more than covers what I spent. I took my family of 4 to the movies the other week, $70 for tickets and then another $60 for drinks, popcorn candy etc. it was over in 2 hours and I retained nothing but the experience of seeing the movie that will stream in 90 days. It was something to do that made us smile. So it is for the casino except at the movies I don't even have the slimmest chance of leaving with more than I came with. All entertainment generally has a cost of admission. I think the vast majority of casino goers understand that and choose the entertainment that makes them happy. Really shouldn’t bother adding but I enjoy this topic as someone who lives frugally while not judging others at the same time. Spend your entertainment money how you see fit. The examples like going to the movies are endless.
Pooch
Was only commenting IMHO. You all do you! FOR ME, I see no value or entertainment in sitting in a dark, enclosed, smoke filled room when ocean views and sea breezes are available. Pooch
MY ONE casino experience was 6-7 years ago. Hubby & DD wanted to go to Foxwoods. We took $100 each and with 45-60 minutes, I was broke . Definitely no fun!!
Traveling Mike
I have had the same issue in 2 of my last 3 cruises. This is what I have done: go to the casino and get on a slot machine. put your sea card in the slot machine and connect to your stateroom account. Request the money from your stateroom account. Cash out the slot machine and get your ticket. Take the ticket to the cashier and get your cash. Note: Do not try to double your money. The Casino is there to take your money does not give you money.
