“UP TO DATE” meaning you have to be BOOSTED as many times and the CDC decides they want you to be boosted to be “up to date”
 
If Royal goes along with this, I’ll probably be done cruising until everything goes back to the Pre-Covid experience!  I’ve had 3 Pfizer shots and had covid …… I’m done with the vaccine FOREVER and will never take another shot!  I’m also done booking trips that require masks in vaccinated areas  …… if that comes back again, I’m done as well!
 

They absolutely won't be taken by the cruise, since they are self administered with no proctor.  These are exactly what you mentioned: for potential exposure in your daily life.

I absolutely love that you did the math.

It changes about every 3-5 days on average.  Once one "sale" ends, a new one will begin.  Often I have noticed it's the same/similar sale just worded differently.
But as SpeedNoodles pointed out, it can and does sell out.

Just off of Anthem of the Seas and it's depressing to think that my next Royal cruise is 484 days.  😪

 
But I do have two Celebrity cruises coming up!  One in 90 days as of tomorrow!  All is not lost.  Whew.

Hawaii, Alaska and the Mediterranean are on our short list. Alaska likely the first of the 3 and hopefully in 2024 for our 20th anniversary!

I paid about $25 for one day access on the Independence in November to log in to check on my cats while I was gone.  I go a bit psycho.

I just randomly went to the Royal Up site and entered my information for our Spring Break cruise at the end of march on Symphony and apparently it was open to bidding.  First time doing this so hope I get the upgrade.

That is a very interesting question.  Although the mandate nationally is over, I think businesses can still require so I'd be curious to see how that shakes out!

Fully masked staff means little. 6 feet for more than 15 minutes is the ship board medical staff of definition of close contact. 
Our daughter spent two hours in AO with one other child and two staff members playing in their six foot circles. She was in AO on day 3. Day 5 she was brought to medical for testing. We all (5) spent the rest of our cruise in isolation. 
We were treated well but it was a giant disappointment to be isolated for NYE, NYD & disembarkation morning.
Not to mention the rest of the process. 
In full transparency we have already booked a cruise in April and a TA in 2023...

It'll be fine.  Canada's latest plan to eliminate the virus has been to mail it around the world.  Then again that plan encountered an issue once Canada Post started sending employees home who appeared with an N95 mask.  Doh!

We drink way more than usual on a cruise. The the drink package when it's on sale. 
Excursions from non royal vendors are cheaper. They have some risk, so do your research first. I likely wouldn't pay for a royal excursion again unless I couldt get thr experience anywhere else.

On the Anthem the Solarium is completely enclosed. With Omicron, it changed to a masked area...unless you're in the water. Still, some people ignore the rule...or to be fair, are unaware. The captain has even added the Solarium being a mask-required venue to his daily position/weather reports. Recently, I have seen instances of crew members advising people to mask up and most comply. Still, some ignore the rule they agreed to follow when booking the cruise. I saw one case where a small group in the corner kept unmasking. So the crew member opened the sliding windows in front of them. It was cold out. When they complained, she told them, again, to mask up. They finally complied. Good move!

The finger crossing must have worked.  I received notice this morning that my bid was accepted.  Moving from an OV Balcony to a Grand suite on Oasis. We are still 23 days from sailing so very early it seems.

For me, I pre-pay to help avoid a giant bill at the end of the cruise. Plus, pre-paying locks in gratuities at the current rate. If you wait to pay gratuities onboard and Royal raises the gratuity rate, you would pay higher rate. Granted, that hasn't happened in a while.
Ultimately, I like to prepay for budget reasons.
