@FoxboroCruiser I get what you mean, there are plenty of threads that repeat about refunds. I get wanting to vent, but its hard to ignore when they come into other threads not talking about refunds..and post about refunds.

If the price for both is the same I would say go for JR suite. Also there are double C&A points on JR. suites...triple if you are solo. More room never hurts anybody.

Great post @AnnetteJackson !  Always great to hear a voice of reason.  Money can cause a lot of anxiety, frustration, and every other human reaction and emotion.  I need my fees and taxes back to make the deposit on a rebooked cruise.  Its my money and I expect to get it back. Others may need it just to put food on the table, and others might just get wound up at the thought that they aren’t going to get the money back at all.

Those members posting over an over about it is not going to make it happen any faster and has made coming to this forum far less attractive for me in the last few days. Everybody has the right to do as they please, but count me among those that are tired over the vocal minority who post about the same issue again and again.

On the part of all this about this being a manual process...... I can tell you they have said that on other cruise cancellations BEFORE all of this.  This is not like airlines that worked with Corporate travelers and had a system in place for tons of changes after final payment.  I know that everyone is frustrated with this process, but please remember that this is a VERY UNUSUAL circumstance that EVERYONE finds themselves in and no one had a good plan for what would happen when the world shut down.  The cruise lines have furloughed lots of people and have moved people from their normal jobs to helping handle the refunds, FCC, call center questions, etc.  The systems were never created to give all the money back plus some...lol  Manual process means its slower and less accurate.
We all have to hang in there and find some patience.  I know its hard, but your TA cant push this thru faster, Royal cant move any faster, and anyone that picks up the phone to help explain all this - needs some understanding as they didnt create this issue, they are only there to try to help

@Balsam That's a fallacy in its self because.....none of the destinations are US based. I can only speak for myself but I love to hear different perspectives. I cannot recall anyone speaking negatively to non-USA cruisers. We cannot deny the fact it was started by an USA citizen but @Matt still educates us in the blog about everything RCCI related. It might seem biased because our experience, as a whole, is only with the North American side of RCCI operations.

Having spent a lot of time on these forums my experience is very different from yours.  Over countless threads there is good input and information from most regions around the world.  I can recall no thread where a poster from a non U.S. region has been frowned upon in any way and certainly not deemed or labeled inferior.

This information is only based on you, the cruiser, cancelling. I believe cruise with confidence ends on Sept 1st, so those who had cruises scheduled before then will lose nothing and have the NFD converted to FCC. If you have NFD and a cruise scheduled after Sept 1st then you are subjected to penalties for cancellation. Which is a usually a $100 per person cancellation fee and the rest sent into FCC. So if the deposit is $250, you would get $150 in a FCC to be used...therefor you will lose $100. IMHO if you aren't sure, do not pay the balance as it will just lock in more money.

I would like to say please do not turn this into "lets blame RCCI for being a business and quoting op-ed pieces" like every other thread. I merely wanted to know about the bonus, thankfully @Matt posted about it on the blog. I cannot for the life of me understand why people go to pro-related blogs to complain. This is something positive that a company is doing in a very unprecedented time.

With a refundable fare you are entitled to a full refund as long as you are not within the final payment threshold. This is in regardless to cruise with confidence, as cruise with confidence is primarily a FCC program and will offer no cash like refund with the exception of port fees, taxes and gratuity. With cruise for coincidence you can cancel up to 48hrs of certain sailings and receive 100% of the fare in FCC. As opposed to when you normally would be penalized the $100 change fee and the rest being turned in to FCC according to the penalty. The cruise with confidence program is not a mainstay and not valid on all sailings. There are plenty of threads that go into more detail, so you should scroll through the topics and any other questions will be answered.

@Chadster Given that the border restrictions have been extended another 30 days...Also NYC and a few other states have extended Shelter in Place orders to May 29th,  I cannot see any cruises leaving before July, plus that June itinerary is under the 90 days. That means you would lock in your money, then be forced to wait as RCCI cancels. I am not saying cruising out of Florida and maybe Texas won't be back in June because it probably will be, as they are anxious to get back to the status quo. Just that in 60 days I expect we just, might be, finally opening up restaurants.

I've been sitting here tonight thinking I might just pay cash for the 6-day Oasis cruise scheduled for late June, and then use the FCC I already have toward an upgraded holiday cruise; after a bit (okay, a lot) of browsing on the RCCL website, I'm finding decent prices for balconies for Christmas, which would be an upgrade from my current oceanview-cabin Christmas plans aboard Grandeur. I figure Lady G's in Baltimore until April of '21 at least, and fitting in even a quick 5-day jaunt to Bermuda in the late winter or early spring wouldn't be too hard since it's a quick trip to Baltimore to sail. That way, I could pick a different ship/itinerary for Christmas cruising this year, still get a summer cruise thanks to a decent price for that 6-day Oasis cruise if it goes forward, be able to take the group cruise to Canada this October thanks to the FCC I'll get back from my cancelled early-June cruise, and get at least one sailing on Grandeur before she leaves the fleet.
So many options! Ugh...I blame you people and your YOLO attitudes! ? I hope you're proud of yourselves. ?

When I read that article I couldn't do anything but laugh. Because it is nothing more than a rehash of old news set to a bias, scathing, badly contextualized theme. It lumps all the other lines in by causally mentioning them, tarnishing cruising as a whole. I cruised on Carnival about 14 years ago, there was no "washy, washy"...I heard there still isn't and they are not the cleanest in other instances. They were negligent to continue to have ships out, after March 15th, and they deserve any and all punishments for that. But be careful of the narrative...cruise ships are floating cesspools the same way airplanes, museums and indoor venues are.

@RBRSKI It seems like RCCI might be erring on the side of caution. While Disney and NCL is going best case scenario. RCCI might want to avoid setting themselves up for failure by booking more May itineraries and having to offer FCC or refunds. Disney and NCL want that money, they are like the thirsty people at Florida beaches today.

I can believe a lot of us had it already but didn't suffer grim fates or were incorrectly diagnosed since underlying conditions attribute to death. I traveled to Connecticut and Seattle in Jan for almost 3 weeks on business conferences. The first week of February I had the "flu" and it lasted almost 3 weeks. I was sick for a week, 2 days after I felt great and then a days later I could barely walk. I had bad pains, couldn't eat and had a high fever..it even hurt to breathe. I later read that all of my symptoms can occur with the virus. Then in early March, when things had progressed,  one of the lawyers actually got COVID, from another lawyer who happened to be asymptomatic. I stayed home when I was sick in Feb and the other guys went to work, none of us had been on cruises. We did fly American, United and Spirit more than 8 times that month.
