One of my coworker sent in a work email about an Korean country and double exposure findings. It stated that according to some test people who caught the virus twice could no longer spread it.....so there is hope that immunity is gained. It was basically an article in Korean pushing for immunity passports. Which means this virus could follow suit like many others, injecting a healthy host with it to build immunity.

I will admit I am one of those people who tell the harsh truth in situations. I cannot understand blaming a company for being a company...especially in times like these. It is never about being a diehard fan but pointing out first world problems. That being said, I don't agree with not honoring Casino comps. I am not a gambler but if you have a program design to reward those who frequent the casino, it should be honored. If RCCI is willing to give refunds and 25% extra FCC for cancelled cruises, it should have at least extended a percentage of the casino certificates. Maybe work with that department to offer something in exchange. It takes a lot of time and money to earn those comps, they didn't expire.

No, if they do food court I would imagine it would not affect the price. In fact they may save on food by eliminating waste. Usually they put two stations a piece for popular items, one on each end, then salad, fruit, deserts and other stations are spread out. A cafeteria style/food court set up would eliminate that and free up more space. It would be like a buffet that they serve you at.

I would suggest asking your TA. but why would a GTY matter? IMO it would work out better for a L&S because they would be able to sell better located cabins for regular price. However, L&S doesn't apply to cancelled cruises and is subjected to a lot of criteria.
Update: Seems they are allowing it to apply to cruises that were cancelled this morning. It still must be a year later in that 4+/- week range.

I don't think that they have any intention of making the WJ space a paid-food space. I think they  just want to make it safer.  I'd be ok with the food court concept.  I might actually eat there then!

Years ago (after a Noro outbreak) we sailed on RCCL (can't remember which ship). The WJ buffet was there; however, you weren't allowed to serve yourself.  They are servers to put the serving on your plate as you held it.  This was also the first time that they started the hand sanitizer before entrance to the WJ (at least for us it was the first time).  I think that they will possibly do this once cruising starts back.  Some people complained (and some of the complainers were the ones who refused to use the hand sanitizer); however, I welcomed it so I didn't have to touch a serving handle that everyone else had touched.   I think some people just refuse to let someone else tell them what they can and can't do.

I disagree about getting extra points for cancelled sailings.
First, it will dilute the program.  Think of it like inflation for C&A points.
Second, and more importantly, this is a situation out of RC's hands and I don't think cruisers need to be "coddled" with points as a means of making us feel better about the cruises being cancelled.
If this were a logistic gaffe and RC messed up (like the $18 drink package), yes, I can see where it makes sense for them to try to make it better.  But this is a global issue and RC is along for the ride.

Anything that might challenge dining packages would require an investment and major construction to implement.  I don't see that happening, there is no budget for it.   Changes will need to be cheap and easy to implement with very minor capital cost if any.
I have a great deal of respect for Michael Bayley but he has said things before that never came to fruition.  He could have been simply talking in very broad terms that people are over analysing and drawing conclusions from.   He could have been using the stage to appease the masses that they are considering all possibilities while stopping short of committing to anything to reassure the public that ships will be safe.
Something will change, at least in the near term immediately after restarting but they are not going to do a major overhaul of the space in the interim.  Implementing food courts on all ships with the variety of WJ designs, shapes and sizes is a multi-million dollar project. Whatever they do will be done with minimal demolition or construction.
I can see them eliminating self serve and having more options from a menu like cafeTwo70 on Q class, Park cafe on O class and cafe Promenade on other ships.  A pasta section with a handful of choices, a burger section where you tell them what you want on it, a sandwich section with a handful of choices like Majesty, a salad area where they make the salad for you just like O and Q class has but now in the WJ as well as where they exist today.
These types of changes can be easily implemented without major construction or cost.  Just like cafeTwo70 or Park cafe these won't impact dining packages.

    Welcome to the message boards.
I've seen sentiment for both sides of the discussion.
Since refunds or FCC have been granted I can understand the argument against it.  If I had been granted points for my lost transatlantic solo I would have 24 points.  If I then booked a future transatlantic using the same funds I would gain another 24 points for a total of 48 points.  That's a lot of points for the price of one cruise.  If I had been in a suite it would be 72 points.  That's almost granting Diamond status for a single cruise so I can understand the argument against it.
Personally I think they should have offered points for anyone choosing FCC as a means to motivate people not to seek refunds.  The problem is it becomes complicated for solo or suites and if they start creating rules to cap it or deviate from the normal allotment of points then some people lose and others win creating ill will, animosity and endless arguments.  That's not what a loyalty program is there for.
In the end the safest course of action is to stick to the established policy and rules.  If your head isn't sleeping on a Royal Caribbean pillow you don't earn points, just like the airlines and like most other loyalty programs.
This pandemic is truly awful and has impacted so many in dreadful ways.  Royal did nothing to bring on the pandemic, it's not their doing.  While I would always enjoy free points I have a hard time justifying an expectation that I should be awarded points for cruises I didn't sail that were cancelled not by Royal's hand but by forces out of their control that required cruise lines to shut down.

I don't think the world needs to continue to be in lock down. My issue is the justifications; most of the people who opposes the lock down, never followed protocol at all. They said  "well the survival rate is high, so if I get it ..oh well. I can't close my factory/barbershop/restaurant, etc or it has been close 2 or 3 weeks and now I am financially ruined. This virus is fake news, its political....My freedom......" The initial lock-down was to flatten the curve, to get a protocol to understand how, what, when, where and why. It was never intended to be permanent but given how fast it affected the entire world, things needed to happen. It was never about getting zero cases, just to get it manageable for hospital staffs. The flu killed like 50 million people in the 1+year(s) it lasted; vaccine took 20 years and even now a hundred years later, it still kills an unfortunate amount of people
I love that people seem to believe that people are good, that they will do what needs to be done...in spite of all the contrary evidence. I think the bigger picture is how ill equipped we are as a nation. The average American cannot last 90 days without income, cannot survive 30 days without nonessential services, and could not last 60 days of social distancing. For all the money a business can make, they are always an inch from bankruptcy. Disney just opened and annual pass holders wanted to protest their mask policy. We know this virus spreads by air, from droplets, we don't know if those who had it have immunity. So if you want the country to open up so fast you have to make concessions. I can't wait to cruise...but I want to enjoy my cruise. So I will be patient because I want it right and not fast.

@JoeFan You can upgrade a current sailing, like say the Freedom, and then wait and L&S. So if you go from an interior to a GS. But then decide you cannot cruise this year, you just need to find a matching itinerary for next. The ship/port doesn't have to match but the length, room, itinerary and product does.
Example being......I have a 7 day western Caribbean on Liberty leaving from Galveston, I upgraded to a GS from a balcony for $770. The Liberty was Halloween 2020 but I cannot go do to work commitments so I L&S to a western Caribbean on Allure Nov 2021 out of Port Canaveral. Per the rules everything matches except for the ship and port, which are allowed to be different.
