We have cruised the caribbean numerous times in December - SJ, St. Maarten, Labadee, St. Thomas - and it has been amazing beach weather every time... save for a couple cold'ish days in Orlando after disembarkation, but they were perfect Disney Days!

We were in the water all day long at CocoCay and Grand Bahama last December the week before Christmas.  It was like 75 degrees and really nice

We went to the Southern Caribbean last January. While it was the COLDEST week of the year back home (Michigan, sub zero temps), the weather from San Juan, PR to Barbados and back was PERFECT!
Sunny and in the 80's (or more) all week long! Beach time and snorkeling excursions were more than comfortable.
Cooler but comfortable outside in the evenings to go out on the decks to stargaze and enjoy the sound of the waves.
We're going southern Caribbean again this January!

Cruised  out of San Juan last January and spent most of day on beach, it was very warm, have another planned this January, so much warmer starting a cruise out of,San Juan in January or February than it is Florida.

Southern Caribbean? I imagine weather will be NO issue for you. Warm enough to be on the beach, FOR SURE. Ive cruised in January, and still snorkeled in the Bahamas, which is way farther North than the Southern Caribbean.

    Hey all!
Would love to hear from my seasoned Caribbean cruisers. I travel to Puerto Rican often but not much in the winter (usually spring/summer)
Will be on a southern carib cruise for christmas. How’s the weather? Is it warm enough to spend time on the beach? Will it be cold at night while the ship is sailing? Does the time of year you cruise dictate what types of excursions you take?

I guess your answer might be dependant on where you live. I’m from the Northeast so anything above 70° is nice to me anyway lol.

    Cell phones.
My travel agency, while waiting on hold to reprice a cruise offered this piece of advice.
Change your screen saver or lock screen image to be your SetSail Pass or something the cruise line can use to identify you.  That super cool wallpaper that comes with your phone looks great but with a device locked no one from the ship can figure out who owns the most recent lost cell phone.
By using an image on your lock screen that the cruise line can reference if you lose your phone on board you stand a much better chance of getting it returned.
    Makes sense.
When you get home put it back to that super cool default lock screen image but while on board consider something that works to help you getting repatriated with your lost device.

2-3 weeks out. But I mentally pack as soon as vacation is booked haha. I just edit it by the time it's actually time to put clothes to suitcase.

I recommend making up your packing list (for checked and carry-on bags) at least 1 month in advance so that you have time to go shopping at the appropriate "sale".  We find there is always something we need to buy.  We pack about 2-3 days before hand but 'escrow" our desired clothing a week in advance to avoid last-minute laundry.  Have a great cruise!

GO to the pub, ask for a pint of Cider (if it's on tap) or a bottle of strongbow.  Might have to wait a few minutes (some bartenders wont serve you a shot and a beer).  Get a shot of Fireball, proceed to dump the fireball into the cider.  You now have a cinnamon-y delicious and strong concoction.

I would bring them if my husband drank wine just for the convenience of having a pre-dinner option in the cabin.

    Hey All,

Wondering if this is still an available option? I cruised Royal in July 2017 and we were able to bring two bottles per cabin. Going on Vision in December this year.

Hi Everyone! New to this blog after CC let me down with their dead roll calls.

Will be traveling on Vision of the Seas Dec 21st 2019 from San Juan. The ports of call look amazing. 70 something days left.

Wanted to avoid the mega ships this time around since we are traveling with my Grandfather who will celebrate his 80th with his first ever cruise!
