Sharla215 reacted to twangster in Norwegian Fjord Cruises
I made the decision to cruise Norway's fjords once I learned about the zero emission regulations coming in 2026.  Those regulations would ban virtually all cruise ships.
I wanted to cruise there so I made a point of booking a cruise in 2020.  That was eventually eliminated by the pandemic so now I'm trying for 2022.  There is since a recommendation to delay the zero emission regulation until 2030 but regardless once I did the research i wanted to get to this bucket list destination so I'm not putting it off.
I've chosen an itinerary that is focused on Norway rather than one that includes a mix of Norway and other countries.  If I'm going all that way I'm going all in.

Hey Anyone ever been on one of these routes?

My mom got a future credit from her cancelled Aug 2020 cruise and we are interested in doing something a little different. But we are waiting until at least 2022. Should we book it now in the hopes that they wont cancel? (who know's whats going on in the next few months let alone a year)

I’ve been on a Norwegian fjords cruise, the views were amazing, highly recommended! Try and book a balcony cabin.

They have to visit at least one Canadian port during the sailing, so if Canada still won't let cruises in then Alaska cruises are done for the season (unless it's an all-American line).

The "classic" service animal was the service dog for a blind person.  That's pretty cut and dry and historically those animals were highly trained and clearly working when in service.
The gray comes in when a dog performs a service like detecting low blood sugar, an oncoming seizure or some other medical condition.  Such a dog might be transported in a cart.  Sometimes these dogs may appear to be a pet but they might serve a valid need.
The problem is the fakers who claim some medical condition and get a fake internet certificate so that their pet can be declared to be a service animal.  These are the ones that often end up biting people or peeing on things.
This women claimed a medical condition that the dog could detect.  Maybe that's true.

However the dog was allowed to wander on it's own off leash.

    Hmmm.

Maybe your kids are a bit too old but I always had fun flying a chiringa (kite) by el morro. The wind is perfect for that and a lot of families do it. Check out the actual fort as well.

For the inlaws here is my yelp collection. I go to PR often as I have family there (not all the saved places are in Old San Juan) https://www.yelp.com/collection/5kmN9FhuYXPA7pB50HKGTA

Get a Pina Colada at Barrachina where it was first invented. You can pick any rum to go in your pina they have a lot of local option to choose from so dont stick with just bacardi.

It's not our thing.  That being said, when I see families wearing them I can't help to think "hey, look - a family that likes each other!" lol - the important thing is for you to do YOUR cruise the way YOU like.  If you're not hurting anyone else, it's irrelevant what others think. Go for it, and then let us see them when your cruise rolls around!

If its a birthday shirt do you ever go up to them and wish them a Happy Birthday?

I may or may not be wearing matching t's on my next cruise (am)
I may or may not be embarrassed (a little but its to celebrate my sweet grandpa's birthday so his happiness trumps all)

We wear matching shirts all the time. The shirts are a reminder of cruising as a family and friends. When my Dad retire after 60 years of working. His shirt read "The Legend has retire," our shirts read "We are with the Legend." We took a family portrait with the shirts. Last year we honor our graduate from kindergarten to college grad. The shirts were awesome. We are working on out next family reunion shirts 30 cabins and counting.

I did it once for dad's 90th birthday.

The crew saw the shirts and went out of their way to make a big deal about it. Dad ate it up!

Dad passed 6 months later, but I'm so glad we were able to fulfill his bucket list dream of cruising and the shirts/crew made it extra special

Stopping in Barbados on Vision next month. Going to Harbour Lights (similar to Boatyard and right next door). Since we are all adults we don't really need the rope swing/trampoline options. 10$ to rent chair/umbrella and 20$ for all that + a turtle snorkeling tour. As Laura said take a taxi, Its 5$ each way.

The water in the sink is filtered and drinkable, so it should be fine to wash with.
