Not having to cook is always top of my list, but I really enjoy the escapism of a cruise. It really does help me feel disconnected from the world at large (primarily the news).

The cruise lines have plenty of cash right now and are taking prudent steps to recover quickly including the retiring of the operating cash they took out loans for. They will be fine...they will market their product, and veteran cruisers will be back immediately and new cruisers will forget the bad stories soon enough.

I believe you should buy stock because you think it's a sound investment, not because you necessarily like/love the company. I also believe I know nothing about stocks, so I'm better sticking my money in investments that will deliver far more return...like drink packages!

I have 101 shares as of March 6th LOL. I believe RCL can weather this storm and come out on top. It may take years to get back to the price I paid for the stock, but I am in it for the long haul. I think the OBC is a nice benefit as well as this stock historically paying you Dividends. I have read about some people not getting the OBC because their cruise was already deeply discounted. I am sure some of the Senior members of this board can enlighten us further.

lol. Personally I found Vanguards website to be the easiest to navigate to open the Brokerage account. I already had an account there for my Roth IRA.

JLMoran has a lot of great info here! I think we will know more when the boats start sailing again and the planes are packed! You might not buy at the bottom but you should be looking good 5 years later. Like it was mentioned steadily investing in Growth Stock Mutual funds is a safer investment over the long term. I only bought stock in RCL because I believe in the company, and its future outlook. I believe it will see more of it's profit from onboard sales and all the upcharges at CoCo Cay with the new areas they just opened up.

Buying stock of a company particularly affected by a crisis while that crisis is still on-going and even in an upswing...does not seem like a wise decision to me unless you have the money to blow and feel like gambling.  Buying stock in a company because you like it much more than the average person is also not wise in my view (insert diversified portfolio lecture here).  
Just don’t want financial novices to see this thread and think this is normal investing behaviour or want to jump on the bandwagon to feel like part of the crowd. 

FWIW my June cruise for 3 days and Sept cruise for 4 days on the Mariner have been showing 65-69$ PPPD for the Deluxe Drink Package.

If you have to fly I would get travel insurance. Otherwise I always love cruising during Hurricane Season

I sure hope they get back cruising soon for the Economy's sake. I had to rebook my April cruise to June and already have a September cruise almost paid for. If the economy doesn't respond well then those will be the only 2 vacations I get to take for awhile. I am a commission based worker, at work now with nothing to do!

IF they announce longer delays to cruising..the stock will most likely plunge again...if I was a betting person..I would hold out as the chances of it going lower yet are pretty good..imho.

Even though the prices are good right now, I'm not sure I would do anything until they start cruising again.
With all the uncertainty right now, non of us know when that will happen.

I’m with @Neesa on this one. I have 4 other sailings booked for this year starting in July. With all the negative news around us, these boards, and the hope of cruising again, is something that many of us are looking forward to. Great for mental health in the midst of all this social distancing and doom & gloom. While I am not oblivious to what is going on around us, I choose to remain positive through all this. ?
