Based on Royal's site, you have to test "with an accredited test provider, such as a drugstore or diagnostic lab" so I am not taking any chances.

So as someone who never wins anything when it comes to drawings or raffles I received this email from Royal today while I was out and about. Super excited to see where they are going to assign me and trying to figure out logistics of making it onboard! I would love to hear if anyone else has received anything or even further details. I know one of the test cruises is on Wednesday.

I made mention yesterday this ticks me off to no end. The whole reason I got vaccinated was to avoid this cluster.  I work. My fiance'e works.  Our kids work hard at school. We work hard. This new wrench in the works involves us giving up work to get tested. For her a few hours or a day. For our kids it will be having to get out of school for the test during holiday school testing time.  For me, it involves cancelling a week long fishing charter for my guests so I can get tested in the window. Otherwise I would have come in from the carter and gone to the ship the next morn.  That's huge $$$$$ ....  We are slated for 4 cruises with 4 of us each trip. $600 just in test fees per trip ($2400 total). Wife 4 days work. For me??? 4 weeks pay and 4 weeks revenues to my business or bring in a hired captain at $400 a day times 28 days! Thats big...
They were making tests available to the non vaccers at the port (at cost) . I see nothing like that for those of us who did as asked and got the vac... ??? Any ideas if somewhere in or near the ports (Miami, Canaveral, Lauderdale) we can get done?

I'd need the quick ones. My previous tests have all cost me about $150 each. CVS nor Walgreens  would even test me but that was like a year ago..  I guess (hope) it has changed.  Somewhere between Palm Beach and Miami I hope to find one... My schedule is such that I fly down. Provision the boat and go to West End , Grand Bahama for wahoo fishing. Two groups a week each. Bring first group with me. Fly first group out and new group is on same plane coming in. Bring home second group. Clear customs for boat then take them to immigration (unless they have whats called an LBO card from Customs/ Immigration).  I can do that at airport then pick up fiance/son from one flight and her daughter on another.  So you can see I'm spoken for right up to leave for the cruise time...

    Try this
I just called my local pharmacy as they offer Covid testing.
Medicare and Medicaid are covered....for the rest of us he said it is $65 for a rapid test.  Here is the website from their page, it has a place you can enter a zip code to find pharmacies that participate.  https://myrx.io  Perhaps give that a try to see if there is a pharmacy near where you will be.  He said they text you your results and when I asked if it is something they can print for me he said yes (I honestly don't know anything about this service and if it would be printable).
So much can change between now and your sailing date.  I hope this helps!

Ok... I'm confused. I saw the order requesting the testing til end of August. Title f thread is through end of December? Did I miss something (not being stubborn) (I may well have missed something).  I'm really reaching the limits of my patience with this stuff.  Since its their new mandate they should puck up the tab as the other lines did. I specifically vaccinated myself and my loved ones to avoid having to take more tests especially at my cost! That's $600 a sailing times 4 sailings I gotta eat. Maybe $2400 doesn't mean much to some but that represents a two balcony 5 night for family of 4.  Or a month of very big mortgage. Or 8 car lease payments. Or... You get the point. If they want me t test , fine but at my expense was not in the original contracts we entered into and I'm plenty cheesed off now!

Not a happy camper at all with this development (or the last 18 months in this country, in general).
All the test does is prove your status at the time the test was taken.  Your status 72 hours ago means ZILCH right now.  And why the differentiator between sailings starting at 5 nights?  A family who goes on a bender at a wedding and then gets on a 3-night cruise the next day can infect large amounts of people on the ship just as bad, if not worse.

I have a 4 night sailing out of Miami on 11/3 on Oasis, getting back to port on 11/7.  I then immediately turn to a 5-nighter on Radiance on the 7th (same day).  So I won't need the negative test for the first sailing, but WILL for the second sailing, and I'll have mere hours to get off the ship, find a CVS in miami and get a Q-tip jammed up my nose and get back to the dock.  Since this is a Sunday, I'm worried that basic drugstores won't have testing widely available or it'll involve some stupidly-expensive Uber ride to get there.

And of course, this will all change again in 3 months I'm sure.

deep1 reacted to em.down.the.rabbit.hole in Kids thrown off Anthem!
Well I'm on my last full day onboard of Anthem OTS and about to go and get tested onboard for our back2back sailing next week...and guest services rang...their land based team informed them that unvaccinated kids cannot do back2back sailings!!!  The land based team told crew that they had already communicated this policy to us.  They hadn't and all onboard with kids doing a back2back were informed this morning that they are being kicked off tomorrow!  I booked the back2back directly with RCL ... appealing behaviour!
But apparently I can take the kids back home, where the covid rate has sky rocketed, let the kids run a higher risk of picking up the virus, and then return a week later, do a PCR test on all passengers and if negative, reboard the ship with the same unvaccinated kids.  But I'm not allowed to get off tomorrow, pop down to the testing centre near the port, take a same day pcr test, and reboard the ship later on in the day as a new passenger.  But turning up next week and doing the same is fine.  BONKERS !!!
We thought we had 2 weeks onboard so had spread out all the activities and were due to do certain activities/shows next week.  If we had known beforehand then we would have at least been able to pack everything into one week.  As it is I'm only being offered refund on next week's cruise and no compensation for this week's cruise!  Very poor behaviour so far ... all I get onboard is "we're so sorry" ...

I'm surprised he went so easy. He had given them ample opportunity to bring other evidences forward or revise the CSO... He saw them for what they are when they tried this stunt A bunch of wannabe baseless bullies! I'm surprised they tried something so petulant and childish , especially since he gave them  a more than fair opportunity. They whizzed all over that gesture with their motion. Though he hasn't pulled that opportunity officially off the table. I'm sure he is ticked off enough that in effect the offer really is no longer there... They never even considered revising the CSO. They were playing an arrogant game of posturing and continuing with their draconian regulations...

I think their sole goal at this point is to drag this out as long as absolutely possible.  There’s a possibility of a Delta spike that they would then point to as additional evidence of why restrictions are necessary.

Without getting into a bunch of legalese blabbering Im seeing it as the whole CSO is not approved by a judge at a federal level. I do not see where a judge has approved a CSO. I see the injunction was not only squashed but done so in very clear terms that the Judge is not very happy with the CDC. Thats just my read. I could be wrong.

The preliminary injunction finds that in the present scheme regulating the cruise ship industry CDC has acted athwart the Administrative Procedure Act and exercised authority not granted to CDC by statute. CDC’s motion (Doc. 96) for a stay — a stay that would serve to extend the unwarranted, unprecedented, and injurious exercise of governmental power by one person, the Director of CDC — is DENIED.
