    It’s still an absolute zoo …… we were on Symphony 2/12-19 with only 2900 people on board …… every time we’d walk down to the the pool from the 17th floor during times it was open, as we’d pass the 16th floor on the way, the line for Windjammer was beyond ridiculously long.  LONGER than I’d ever seen it pre-Covid. I couldn’t imagine waiting in a line like that for the quality of food they serve!

    I think Windjammer had other issues too, pre-covid.  Frankly, it was often an overcrowded zoo.  I remember one cruise in which many guests seem to sit forever at their tables -- Royal had to make frequent announcements to encourage guests who were finished eating to be sensitive to those still waiting for a table. I think that one of the benefits of Covid safety precautions is that Royal is re-thinking the Windjammer experience so that it is more positive for everyone.  This is easier with reduced capacity, so the real test will be later this year.  I am willing to say good-bye to self-service buffets because, in the end, I think it will be more enjoyable for everyone.  Also, having other dining options has been essential to lthe Windjammer's continued success.

    The food waste reduction is the biggest benefit. Absolute crime against humanity to ever waste food.

    @GoodReddensRCCsorry to hear you are having so many issues/. Hopefully it will get fixed for you.
    This is another reason why it is so important to use a travel agent who can work through these issues for clients.

    Hopefully it never comes back.  It is one of the reasons I have never been to the buffet.  Watching people go in from outside and not using the hand washing is enough to turn me off.

    @dr martini As long as people are buying it they are going to try and keep doing it until Royal reaches a threshold the same as we have a limit to what we ware willing to spend.
    I think people right now are just so happy to be able to cruise again they are paying what ever to have a great time.  Royal kind of knows this and are trying to see how far they can push it.

    We cross the land border into the US so we have not been asked to present proof of vax at the border.  However, when we cruised in December 2021, we use the ON QR code pdf as our proof of vax and they accepted it no problem.  That was what I also uploaded into the app at check in.

    Looks like it is full steam ahead for Canadian ports so far.

    I am so excited to be able to go down to Canada place to see cruise ships again! When (if) the first ship arrives on April 7 it will have been 30 months (2.5 years) since a cruise ship last docked at Canada place 😮

    At this point I have to believe that Royal truly canNOT reinstate Cruise Planner purchases once they're cancelled (either intentionally or unintentionally).  There are just too many stories of people who have lost their CP purchases for one reason or another and never once have I heard of Royal reinstating their purchases.

    Just a note if you are going on a tour, probably not so much in the North America, but if you are on a European cruise and doing shore excursions, you will need to have your shoulders covered, shorts long enough to cover the knees or pants for men when visiting most churches.

    A lot of the times it depends on your server.  Fist day of the cruise I was at Giovanni's it was by the book and got to chatting with the waiter and left him a tip.  A few nights later he was saying whatever you want you can order it no worries.  The only thing I did order was a half order of the Carbonara to see how they made and compare it to other places.  The portions are so big that you never have to worry about being hungry.
    You can always ask your server and the worst they can say is no you are not allowed to order.
    The thing with the UDP its a lot of food over your 7 days especially if you have the lunches on sea days too.

    Same thing happened to me when they moved our cruise from Allure to Wonder they refunded our package and would not honour the pricing. Drink package is 28$ more per day and that adds up on a 14 day cruise. Your lucky you got some onboard credit for the trouble.

    Royal does a lot of trademark filings and most turn into nothing.  Sometimes these filings are done for competitive reasons such as to establish their position before a competitor can file.
    Last year Royal trademarked "America's Cruise Line" when Carnival began using that slogan in the media.  If only they had trademarked "Funderstruck" we would all be saved from seeing those commercials on TV.  
    I wouldn't read too much into a trademark filing.

    I do money, then I ask my cabin stew what they would want from port. Olga asked for a pain relief cream. We could not find her Spanish language product, (in San Juan ironically) so we ended up getting Icy Hot with Lidocane. We got two. It was about 10 each.  I know we got our moneys worth as later that week she collapsed my two laundry bags into one. More than saved what we spent on her.
