ellcee got a reaction from Kelcey in Huge increase to my price after booking?
Just call RC. I've heard of this "glitch" before on another site and everyone who called got it fixed. If the price is indeed what you think it is you'll have documentation of it by way of email.  Let us know what happened.

I've been working on it for 5 years, since I had some medical issues.  To be honest, I am not looking to lose all that much weight.  As for the Cardio, that is more of my habit.  I walk to and from work, If it's in my end of the city (Toronto, East end) I walk if it's just me.  It's less of an "exercise" and more of a habit.  My doc is researching metabolism stuff with me, and I am okay.  I spent a year adding more strength training, and to be honest I hated it.  The extra protein made me bulk more, and that is more of an issue than the weight increase.  This isn't a weight loss blog though, so I'll refrain from getting much more into it.  Needless to say, it's being worked on.  I am happier and healthier than i have been since high school, and that was 24 years ago.  Just trying to build a buffer zone for my inevitable cruise weight, when I order lattes without low fat milk/stevia for a week.

Speaking only for myself  - I totally understand the frustration of the OP and OP has every right to his/her own feelings. Your $$$ trip is up in the air. There just seems to be a lack of empathy and maybe a little disassociation with the whole situation. My frustration with your post is that I'm with you for the most part but then you use words like "savior" and "humanitarian" and how maybe your trip is more important than people getting food/water/shelter.

The part that really concerns me is medical evacuation from the ship or foreign country.  I've heard costs in the $25,000.00 range.   Even hospitalization in a foreign country could be very complicated and costly.
I told my wife if I needed that, just push me overboard. She said "ok, don't have a problem with that".  I don't sleep well at night...

I hate to extend this topic but I must comment.  My wife has had hip replacement and needs a soft mattress otherwise she gets cranky the next day.  And yes, we have an air mattress we take and we have also taken a memory foam topper with us.  Most likely will take it again.  I've been married too long to argue about luggage space.  You remember the saying "If the wife ain't happy, then nobody is happy".  Consider it self preservation.  Don't tell her I said this.  I'm scared of her....

Customs times vary quite a bit, and can be a bit longer on TA repositionings.
As far as the cost of a taxi, this article breaks down the costs via taxi, uber, and cruise line transfers, and goes over options for getting between several South Florida destinations.  http://www.cruisehabit.com/uber-lyft-cabs-shuttles-how-get-and-your-cruise-easily-cheaply

100% had this happen. I prefer a bigger table with more people but I'm the more the merrier type and love to get to know new people on cruises. Saying that - I work in NYC and avoid people like they have the plague in my regular life.

Actually, you get a double benefit by cutting out the alcohol for a few months ahead of time. You get the up-front benefit of the reduced calorie intake, but you also get a secondary benefit that your alcohol tolerance quickly goes down. So when you finally board the ship, that lava flow or glass of scotch or pint of beer suddenly hits a lot harder. Now you're drinking more slowly. Slower drinking = fewer drinks a day = maybe no need for beverage package at all!

OH yeah, one other  benefit of stopping all the alcohol intake prior to a cruise is think of the potential savings in money. That savings can be used for to pay for your  drink package on board on your next cruise!

I'm sure I am in the minority here but I usually LOSE weight on a cruise b/c the food I eat is so much better for me than the junk I usually eat at home.
While I probably eat more often on a cruise than I do at home, I definitely eat BETTER when I am on a cruise.
Not to worry about me wasting away.  I put it back on in RECORD time when I get home !

Happy to report that early this morning I checked online again and notice that limit had been lifted.  So I called RC right away to ask for the upgrade.  In the end we are good, now in a suite with 1 1/2 bath and an extra pullman bed so the kids don't have to share a bed plus free gratuities for all   Told the kiddies they would get their own room maybe next time lol.  And yes, Matt, I booked with the NRD so it was my understanding all along that I would have to pay a penalty of $100pp for one of the cancelled rooms (not both rooms) which is what ended up happening.  The remainder of my deposit goes to a FCC which can be applied to this cruise in a few weeks.  Something interesting though, after reading bcarney's posts about his FCC, I did ask them what happens after I apply this FCC and sometime before sailing in March I decide I want to upgrade again, would my FCC be lost since already applied?  They (agent and supervisor) assured me no it would not be, it would simply be reapplied by a supervisor since it is not expired and I am not changing the sail date or ship.  They said this is done all the time.  So what I have learned from all this is that the front end agents often do not know the rules and sometimes even the supervisor does not because with my case they had to go to a manager.  With all this I was on hold for probably over and hour but worth it because it was good learning experience to not take the first agent's word for it all the time.  And I may be in the minority here but I prefer to book and deal directly with RC because I can argue my own case and have control over my own booking.  I blame it on my Type A personality lol.

Hey there Yall! My name is Candace and I am from NC. They hubby and I love to cruise, and have been doing so since our Honeymoon in December 1991. We are headed out on The Majesty of the Seas on Monday, for a little time off. I for the most part can't wait for Cococay, my favorite. I just want to say I use to belong on another board, but the people there are so rude, I started looking around and found this one today. No sense in adults treating each other like that. Life is too short! I for the most part like to read comments and learn from others, so I'm gonna get to reading!

I can understand their frustration,   they didn't say if it was their first or if they are Pinnacle level.  If its their first or even first with RC I can see where it would leave a bad taste.  People react harsh to less in todays world.  I chat with a friend at work often and we talk about when boat are stuck somewhere how with our jobs we have enough flexibility that it wouldn't matter to us but some people have a strict vacation schedule.  My father had two weeks vacation every year, week of July 4 and Christmas.  This was dictated by the factory he worked in, it closed those two week for maintenance.  If he planned a cruise during that time and it got messed up I'm sure he would be upset too so got to give them some slack on this even though RC is doing its part to help with the hurricane.  Wish they would come to my house and help me finish my problems...

Enjoy the relaxing! I'm a Disneyaholic who has been to Disney 13 times.  My kid's got lots of pics... they were built into the touring plan lol! We opened the park and closed the park (and never went back for the nap!)   I will tell you that my first sea day on vision in 2015 was one of the best days of my life.   I was on vacation and sitting in my chair with nothing else to do but read a book, wave to my teens and drink my frosty beverage.   I've never been so relaxed in my whole life.   I loved the 4 ports and excursions that gave my teens something to do, but mostly I just enjoyed enjoying the ship and the meals and the relaxation.  I have found and treasured those relaxing times on both cruises since.  Remember that you just can't do everything,  so don't worry about it and do only what you want to!   I can't wait to read all about your trip!   Jane

The Adventure of the Seas is not "shabby".  It's a beautiful ship.  To me, it's the sweet spot of cruising.
RCCL is helping save lives and doing the best they can in a terrible situation.  They will do their best for you.  It's unfortunate, but for now, you have to wait.  They are helping Puerto Rico recover.  If things don't improve in San Juan, they will have to cancel more cruises, including your's.
Because you have air-to-sea, you are in a better situation than those flying on their own.  RCCL will know where you are in the process, and will hold the ship for a time if needed.  If that is the case, the more people running late, the better for you.
My advice, try to relax and see how it plays out.  I know people who cruise in Sept or Oct every year because the rates are so low.  However, there is more risk this time of year than other times.  This is the year where Mother Nature decided to make the bills come due.  It's not RCCL's fault.
