Robert Gray
I’m currently on Symphony of the Seas and the minimum bet on the craps table is $5. This is the first RC cruise I’ve been on with the minimum not being $10. I asked the casino dealers if it’s just this ship or fleet wide. They told me it’s just this ship. I also asked if this was some kind of test for the rest of the fleet and they didn’t know. Maybe Matt can do some investigating on this? JLMoran
I've seen $5 craps before, but many years ago. My first ever sailing on Freedom in 2018 had a $5 craps table, but only during certain hours and usually sea days. They might be starting to phase it back in to get more participation in the casinos. @WAAAYTOOO, I know you cruise a lot and gamble onboard regularly. Do you recall seeing $5 craps on any of your recent sailings?

I don't normally notice the wagering at the craps tables (although I love to play craps, I normally do not, on a cruise) but in general, no, I don't recall the minimums being $5. I have seen some reduced minimum wagers during specific hours (usually early right after the casino opens until maybe noonish) but normally not a standard "anytime" bet. I might actually play some craps if I found a $5 table ! Peachjan

Fastfaller
I don't really gamble, but if table games were $5 I might consider having a bit of a go at it. Seeing $10 minimums scares me off. So maybe they are on to something... I am a prime example of they type of people they might be looking to attract. Personally I don't understand why they would want a higher minimum... It's the minimum, people can always wager more. Unless the goal is to only have serious gambles at the tables, but then they are limiting the interest in the games. It might not be so much about "serious gamblers" as crowd control. There's usually just one craps table on the ships I've been on, two if I'm lucky, and with only 8 (10?) spots available at a table they might want to keep from having a big crowd gathered around waiting their turns. On the other hand, there is absolutely nothing like the excitement that happens when a big crowd is gathered and cheering on a shooter who's having a hot streak. Yes they had $5 craps right after the covid lull. That craps table on Grandeur was the only time I saw Security have to arrest someone. The shooter was cut off because he was sliding the dice and they asked him to leave the casino area. He refused and started making a scene. Security circled him and, well, let's just say he ate from "room service" the rest of the trip, had a "private bodyguard" posted at his door, and was escorted off the ship with a new pair of shiny bracelets. He got the true VIP treatment. I suck at throwing the dice. it never fails I either hit someone's chips, miss the back wall, or throw one (or both!) over the wall. Matt
I always recall minimum bet for craps being $5. Blackjack is higher, usually $15 these days (although occasionally you can find $10). Peachjan
CyclingVa
My local casino only has 25, 50 and $100 craps table Its Crazy. If you play a $50 table and have the Pass line, Odds. the 6 & 8 covered its a $240.00 minimum KWong, WAAAYTOOO and JLMoran
baltodave
We just got off Odyssey and the minimum Craps bet was $10. My beef is that every time I ventured into the Casino, the Craps table was closed. They opened it when we were enjoying dinner or shows and after the shows, I was usually too tired to hit the casino. The one time, I did go in there and the Craps table was open, it was packed and I couldn't get a spot at the table. CyclingVa
The craps table is typically hot in the evenings. Sometimes they will have half the table open during the day

brdjnr
I have never seen a $5 craps table on RC. Then again I usually dont pay much attn to it since the odds limits are crazy low, maybe 2x?
billdauterive
I haven't seen $5 min on any ship in about 2 years. It's definitely $10 right now on Voyager so definitely not a fleet-wide trial at the moment.

jbrinkm
I'm on Symphony now and my dad said there was $5 min at craps (it's his game so he was happy). However, he said the dealers weren't the best & sometimes didn't know what they were doing. He plays in both AC and Vegas, almost exclusively craps. Eighty8
The house edge for basic pass line betting in craps is very low (1.4%)... One of the lowest in a casino. So a $5 bet is an expected win for the casino of only like $0.07. becomes even lower when playing pass line odds bets which have 0 house edge (only bet in a casino where this exists). It takes 3 to 4 dealers to run a craps table. You can theoretically take a spot and sit and play just pass line bets which may end up being a long time playing on just one bet. Obviously most players at craps end up betting a lot of other options. But you can easily see why a casino doesn't like to offer low limit craps tables, it's not worth effort to open up a table unless you've got a decent number of players playing at high enough wager levels. Also why they are only opened during peak times in the evenings.

This is always the case on every ship. You may have a few that are really good and could work dice in any casino on land, but the vast majority are obviously new to the game and learning. So I would recommend not to play craps on the ship if it's your first time or if you don't at least know what the payouts of each of your bets should be for each roll. I don't know how many hundreds or thousands of dollars I would've been short payed over the years if I just took the dealers payment without verifying the amount. In fact, I usually have to argue with a dealer and/or pit boss about a payment amount at least once per cruise on average (and they've always conceded that I'm correct in the end...) jbrinkm
