Cactus527 Posted February 21, 2024 Report Posted February 21, 2024 Is anyone else super excited that LA is potentially getting another ship?!?!?!?? https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/2024/02/21/spotted-royal-caribbean-will-add-second-cruise-ship-los-angeles I swear I'm not dancing Tcruisin, MR_Soccer, RCIfan1912 and 2 others 1 4 Quote
Cactus527 Posted February 21, 2024 Author Report Posted February 21, 2024 Also, looking more in depth at the port schedule, it looks like MSC will have a ship in LA starting October 2025 as well (Bellissima). RCIfan1912 1 Quote
Austin Posted February 21, 2024 Report Posted February 21, 2024 Maybe a little competition then. Navigator and Quantum are both great ships. Cactus527 1 Quote

Skippy67 Posted February 21, 2024 Report Posted February 21, 2024 Since LA is my home port, I'm looking forward to future casino offers on Quantum. I still enjoy Navigator but variety would be nice. Cactus527, WAYNO and RCIfan1912 3 Quote

No. I looked further into the port schedule than what's shown with the article. Quantum starts in October with some 3- and 4-night cruises, but it also has a healthy mix of 5-6 night cruises too. Most of the Quantum cruises also list Cabo San Lucas as a port destination, something I'm very excited for. Navigator appears to have an 8-night cruise in mid-November 2025 - that sounds great too. MR_Soccer Posted February 21, 2024 Report Posted February 21, 2024 Indeed really looking forward to having another option. It's also our favorite class ship so far. Cactus527 1 Quote
Carpe Diem Posted February 21, 2024 Report Posted February 21, 2024 Can't wait! With the addition of some 6-8 night sailings, I wonder if they might visit some different ports (other than the standard Ensenada, Catalina, Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan, Puerto Vallarta)?? I love Navigator of the Seas and I cruise on her all of the time (since I live just 13 minutes away from the pier in San Pedro). Frankly, I would cruise on ANY Royal Caribbean ship docked in San Pedro. But, I welcome the addition of Quantum of the Seas! Cactus527 and DDaley 2 Quote

It would be nice, with an extra ship, if they'd expand their offerings from L.A. Our Mexican Riviera cruises are quite redundant. There's another whole coast of Central and South America that could be opened up to Royal. Even regular cruises, L.A. to San Francisco to Seattle. In the old days, I cruised Royal from Seattle to Astoria, San Francisco, and Victoria, and back to Seattle. It was a terrific trip. MR_Soccer, Ryan79 and Cactus527 3 Quote

WAYNO Posted February 21, 2024 Report Posted February 21, 2024 Yes, Royal has that memo. Cruises to and from Seattle pass strategically close to Victoria. It's an easy stop. They do it every week during the Alaska cruise season. For some, Victoria is the highlight of the cruise. And Victoria is still in Canada. . Cactus527 1 Quote
bobroo Posted February 21, 2024 Report Posted February 21, 2024 Quantum going to LA will make me book more cruises! Los Angeles has lots and lots to offer pre and post cruise. Cactus527 1 Quote
Zambia-Zaire Posted February 22, 2024 Report Posted February 22, 2024 Just got off the Discovery Princess; so yes, I'm very happy to hear a Quantum Class will start cruising the West Coast. I agree bobroo, being just 4hrs away, oh yeah, I will cruise a lot more... traveling East gets quite expensive at times. I just wish bookings started October 2024 instead. Cactus527 1 Quote

Babsy47 Posted February 22, 2024 Report Posted February 22, 2024 Some group needs to build a something fabulous and family in Ensenada. The city has great weather, super friendly folks, and a relatively good infrastructure. Giant pool, aviary, nice shopping, and a kiddie pool with slides would do it. Extra points for beach access! They have a very nice park with great pools and a ropes course, but it is a long drive from the port in very bad traffic. DDaley 1 Quote

Many years ago, when DH was a crew member, he made regular stops in Victoria. Says it was one of his top favourite ports. We happened to be discussing favourites with another couple in the WJ on one of our cruises and the people at the next table piped up with, "We're from Victoria!". They were thrilled. This is going back 40 years now so I'm sure there have been big changes but I think that sounds like an amazing itinerary. I'd love to b2b it with a Panama Canal cruise. Southern Dan Posted March 17, 2024 Report Posted March 17, 2024 Trying to plan a cruise for winter 25/26 and want to do a Quantum Class ship…only realistic options is Odyssey out of NY which I’m not too enthusiastic about or Quantum out of LA which sounds much more enticing…wish it was more than 6 nights though. Can’t win em all I guess! Quote
Tcruisin Posted March 17, 2024 Report Posted March 17, 2024 Super excited! My first cruise was on Vision of the Seas when it was sailing out of this port to Mexican Riviera (long time ago)! Then Royal went away for a loooong time When Navigator came to town, I jumped on it and have sailed a few times...I have done the happy dance with the announcement of Quantum! so much so, that I have already considered organizing a family reunion on the 5nt Cabo (w/ 1nt overnight) itinerary Question: what does an overnight look like? Are cruise ship guest able to stay out all night and come and go as they please? Cactus527 and RCIfan1912 2 Quote

Cabo is a tender port so I'm not sure if this still applies. Hopefully someone will jump in as I would be interested as well. Tcruisin 1 Quote
