Wow.  What a wait.  Michelle, MEI, just booked us on a Celebrity Alaska Cruise on the Solstice, July 2022 (S1 Sky Suite).  As posted before, this will be our first Celebrity Cruise.  I will have a whole bunch of rookie questions.  BTW, started my spreadsheet this morning.
Kudos to Michelle.  Cue music for my happy dance.

OP is Star Class, so no automatic gratuities here.
They will use the non-refundable OBC first, so if you know how much you have you can figure out what you need to spend onboard not to leave any money on the table before getting off the ship.

Canceled my February 2021 Oasis cruise and all refunds were settle within 30 calendar days.  Hate to say it, no worries.  Now, I am waiting for the 2022 Alaska itineraries to be released.

Same late year  timeframe.  Around Nov-Dec last year.   Wishing they would move up the 2nd half of '22.

We had out first Celebrity last year on Summit and loved it.  Will be spending our "couple" cruises on Celebrity, and save Royal for group cruising, starting in 2021.  We have a couple more Royal to get through first, that we booked before we sailed Celebrity.  Will most likely end up cancelling a B2B on Freedom for Oct 2021 to sail Celebrity instead.

Is this trip adults only, or will you have kids in tow? If you're going kid free, this might be a great time to try out Celebrity (Celebrity does have kid's programming, it's just not as robust as RCCL)

We cancelled everything in the cruise planner (shore excursions, drink package, and internet package) in April prior to the cruise finally cancelling in May a month before and the refund was processed to my credit card very quickly.  My credit was on the next statement.  I have heard it takes longer if you wait for the cruise to be cancelled to get everything you are supposed to between the Future Cruise Credit for the cruise and items in the CP.  I would not use a TA and just book directly through Royal yourself.  I have heard so many horror stories with people who used one and are having so many issues because of the virus.

Pinging @twangster. If I remember correctly, he has sailed on both Millennium and Radiance and could give the best comparison.
One thing that Millennium has going for her is that she was refurbished late last year / early this year, so she has all-new furnishings and other decor. I can tell you that Celebrity is more up-scale than Royal, and is less about the on-ship bells and whistles than the itinerary and onboard level of service provided. And one of her key features is the Sunset Bar all the way aft, up on deck 10. By all accounts a great place to sit and enjoy the scenery going by on any itinerary, Alaskan or otherwise.

I have cruised both from Seward to Vancouver.  Millie in 2017 and Radiance in 2019.
    Millie:

    Radiance:

    Millie was before her revolutionization.
Both are great ships and similar in size as both were built to the original Panamax standard.  I cruised Celebrity because on that occasion I was booking a suite.  On Celebrity (or X as some refer to it) a suite comes with better perks compared to Radiance suites.  All things being close to equal and since I had never sailed X I picked Millie.  The only disadvantage was not earning Crown and Anchor points.
On Millie suites have a dedicated restaurant and access to a lounge, plus it came with 4 perks, OBC, gratuity, beverage package and internet.  Put it all together and Millie represented better value dollar for dollar, suite to suite.
I can't think of much to complain about on either ship.  In both cases I booked the train from Anchorage direct and the itinerary was identical.
Mille was a bit more refined.  No need to sign out towels, slightly better food in the buffet, suite restaurant on Millie (Luminae) was excellent, like Coastal Kitchen on the bigger Royal ships but better.  Radiance helipad was public where it isn't (or wasn't) on Millie.
Unless the CAS points are a big factor for you I suggest checking out Millie since she has been refreshed now and it will give you an opportunity to try X, to see what you like or dislike.  I had a great cruise on her and I'd go back for the same reasons anytime all things are close to equal.

    Thinking about cruising Alaska again.
Locked in to do the land tour (Anchorage start and ending at Seward), primarily for Anchorage,  Talkeetna and Alyeska..   What is up in the air is the ship.  Same itinerary for the Celebrity Millennium and Radiance of the Seas.
Which ship would you choose and why?
We've never cruised with Celebrity.   We have sailed on the Radiance twice (Hawaii repositioning and Alaska).
    Thanks in advance.

To be honest, it took a couple of years as an empty nester to even start cruising (college bills).   It was a big deal to get a balcony on the Liberty of the Seas.   We loved the ship and the experience.   Total rookies.   Dunn River Falls anyone?

This is what I don't get. It's called Chef's Table, and it's supposed to allow a chef to get creative and put his personal spin on things. If it's standardized fleet-wide, then it's nothing more than a glorified specialty dining option that happens to include a decent selection of wine in the charge.
I really hope they roll back that decision, especially as they're having to make all these adjustments around getting sailings going again. By making the Chef's Table a personal thing again for each ship's chef, it improves the draw and gives the people sailing a reason to want to book it on every ship.
This is, of course, assuming that Chef's Table isn't done away with for a time -- hard to social distance when you're at a big round table with a bunch of strangers and getting animated as the wine flows. ?

    Hello!
Congrats on your Oasis cruise - it's my favorite Royal ship! 'Worth it' is subjective, but I can tell you that you will never be disappointed in a meal at Chops. The service and food are both excellent, and it's a 'never miss' for me. I also agree with @Pima1988 that the 3-Night Specialty Dining package is the way to go, especially on a ship like Oasis with so many amazing dining options. If you decide to go for the 3-Night, you may also want to check out Giovannis and 150 Central Park. Have a wonderful trip!
