  1. KLA!   How have you been?   Missed your posts.

When we go to St Thomas, we shop/stroll downtown a bit, maybe grab a bite, and then

we just find a taxi and tell him where we would like to go.  They'll take you on a tour, or

take you to anywhere you want.  It's a lot of fun if you have other people with you.  I remember

one time this lady says as we're on our way up the mountain that she doesn't like curvy roads...

well, it's a mountain so there are a ton of 'em!  She was a hot mess when we got back to town!

I do like getting a banana daiquiri up on Mountaintop.

One of the taxi drivers we've had - Timothy - at Mountaintop:

Delighted I read through all the posts here as think Captain Bobs tour looks like a real winner for both of us when we are there in March.

Regarding Maho beach being a tourist trap, I couldn't care. It's something I always wanted to see and this will probably be my only time there in my life. Some things are inherently touristy but still worth seeing.

Oh, I couldn't agree more - Maho is definitely a must-go place.  Seeing those planes land is absolutely crazy.

I guess my usage of "tourist trap" was a little harsher than I intended.  What I meant was that there is a ton of people jammed on a little

stretch of beach waiting for another landing, and that's okay.  The people at Sunset must make a fortune!

Isn't there like a winder that you can use to keep it going even if you're not wearing it?

Yes, there is.  If you saw the movie Dr. Strange, he had drawers full of watches on those moving thingies.

I just don't feel like buying one.  Sometimes, to me, it's just silly to have to buy some things that really

    shouldn't be needed.

Oh - I found it:   Doctor Strange Dr Strange GIF - Doctor Strange Dr Strange Watch - Discover & Share GIFs

  4. We've been to Maho a couple of times and I agree with all of them ^ - it's a tourist trap and crowded!   The beach in the flight path is tiny and full of people.

When we head to SXM next month, I think we might just hang out in Phillipsburg or grab a taxi - maybe to Orient but it's not the same as it was pre-Irma.

BTW - if you're looking for a great, insightful youtube blog about St. Maarten, check out The Travelling Island Girl.  I just found her last month and her vlogs are great.  She also gives guided tours when she's there but I'm afraid she will be too expensive for just the two of us.

    Here's one of her videos:

  5. CVS screwed us, too.

We had the appointment for a few weeks, and even got a confirmation the

night before (Friday after Thanksgiving) we were due to test, and then Friday morning we received an

e-mail telling us they cancelled.  I spent $200 and a had a lot of stress because

of them.  I paid the money, as I was determined that we were cruising, but I

was (and still am) one PO'd hombre.

Are the hot tubs actually hot?   My husbands biggest gripe when we go to resorts in Mexico is that they are more like Tepid bubbling baths rather than hot tubs.   He's looking forward to the hot tubs on the ship.

Not always as hot as I wanted, but plenty enough that I often felt that I had to sit up on the edge for a bit.

I guess you need to go around and feel.  For me, once I was in, I was in!

I've always declared everything with USCBP because if you don't and get caught once you are red flagged and will be in secondary screening on all future border crossings.

However with facial recognition used at many cruise ports now you are never asked if you have anything to declare.

TABC is another matter.  I don't buy alcohol on cruise from Galveston because of it.  Even if transiting through Texes you are supposed to declare it and screw that.  I always have cruises booking from Florida so it's just easier not buying booze on Texas cruises.

You're always helpful, Twangster; that helped me.

Follow up question - we get off Harmony  tomorrow - do we still have to have all bottles in our carry-on bags?  I  use the porters and they tend to breeze through.
