Stelkp reacted to Jailman in room service times
I understand anything above a junior suite has no charge.

Yes, though keep an eye out on your account as sometimes they'll still charge you (you can get the charge removed)

When we did our first cruise with kids, my sons, about 7 and 9, were not offered a children's menu, and they only ordered from the regular menu. They also spoke politely to our other dinner companions and ate like an adult. I advocate cruising as a good way for teaching dinner manners to young gentlemen and to keep them from being finicky eaters.

Stelkp reacted to CruisingNewb in Suite attendant tipping and more
1. As to what is a "good tip" amount, that depends on you. If you pre-paid gratuities and want to tip more, then you tip what you can afford and commensurate to the service you received. Remember, its not on you to feed your room attendant's family or to pay his salary.
2. As to timing, I personally begin each stay on a cruise, motel, hotel, whatever, by finding our room attendant and introducing myself. I hand them anywhere from $10 to $20 at the very beginning. Generally, this leads to some proactive service such as the room attendant asking me my preferences in what time I will be in or out, etc. I then tip $2 every night. At the end, if service was spectacular, and in our case on our recent cruise it was spectacular, I tip an additional $20. Some may think too little, some may think too much, to each his/her own.
3. Here is an additional thought...I asked my room attendant what kind of things he likes to snack on. My room attendant had not been off ship since starting his contracts 6 weeks ago. My family and I bought snacks at port, a couple of Asian instant ramen noodles, and some candy. I gave the room attendant the gifts and he gave me an air hug. It was sweet.

I typically prepay my tips so that the basics are covered.
I typically will ask for extra towels and to keep the ice bucket full. I will give the attendant a twenty as I am asking.
If everything is good for the rest of the cruise (it usually is after thev1st tip), then I would give another 80 to 100 as an additional tip for a suite. Maybe less for a JS.
I do not think that tipping above what Royal charges is necessary. If you aren't asking for extras, and the service was adequate, then I don't think you are obligated to add anything. I have never had bad service on any cruise, but if I did I still would tip the normal amount Royal charges. I would just make a complaint instead - Hopefully that never happens!

The end. My amount would vary based on my experience.

A little bit different approach. Room attendant at the beginning and if exceptional - an additional tip at the end. Just like the suite lounge, I do a good tip on the first visit and service quality and speed increase on subsequent visits. Concierge at the end with the amount being based on the number of times we use them, effort required, and quality.

He had to leave. He couldn’t produce a negative antigen test.

Stelkp reacted to Moby Dick in Oasis aqua show
Yep, the Aqua Show is subject to a lot of weather issues/cancellations. However, when it is on, it's a must see, or is it sea. Just like most of the shows on Royal's ships.

Stelkp reacted to Sea Squirrel in Oasis aqua show
Honestly the new Aqua Show on Oasis is the best we’ve ever seen. We saw it twice (even our 15 yr old loved the 80s/90s). We’re hoping it is a sign of updates fleet-wide. Enjoy the Amp’d Oasis and hope you like the show as much as we did.

Stelkp reacted to BrianB in Playmakers question.
Nachos! Beware the nachos! They are piled high, dangerously addictive and eating them will force you (yes FORCE you) to drink more than you planned…but what a delicious way to go! Love Playmakers!😜

Stelkp got a reaction from Mike.s in My Time Dining Reservation Question
I didn’t know that I could book it prior to getting on the ship until reading this post a couple of days ago , so I booked. So bummed that the only seating times were all after 8:15. Maybe if I go earlier and wait there’s hope? But then I’ll be one of those annoying people you speak of lol!

Stelkp reacted to USCG Teacher in VERY Surprising Royal Up acceptance! 😁
Here I am, 51 days out from my Oasis of the Seas cruise out of Bayonne, and low and behold I see those magical words in my email inbox: Your Stateroom Has Been Upgraded. My minimum $700 bid moved me from a JS guarantee to a 1 Bedroom Aquatheater Suite! I am beyond stunned, the timing, the acceptance, all of it! So Suite Snob crew (this is in fact a term of endearment!), help a dad who's never stayed in anything bigger than a Promenade View room taking his kids on their 1st cruise with the lowdown: what do I do now? Do I cancel my MDR reservations if we're going to do CK, or will the concierge do that? I suddenly have so many questions that I hadn't even thought about! Any advice/pointers/experience would be greatly appreciated!
