This occurred earlier this year. Ship was understaffed due to large covid outbreak amongst crew. All shows canceled and St Thomas call canceled due % positivity rate....I never saw so few working so hard to make things run as smoothly as possible. Our cabin attendant worked hard to fix any issues that were found. I always tip the cabin attendants extra(above pre-paid) and did so in this case as well.  Patience is the operative word wrt current post?- covid cruising climate
Original post was about cringeworthy things encountered.

Yes, if you are booked via Royal Caribbean you can call them. If you booked through a Travel Agent you call your travel agent.
Do a mock booking to check out the price of a JS on the sailing you want to move to, just so you know the additional cost ahead of time.  At times you can be on hold with Royal for quite some time before you can get an agent to speak with.    Do not call it a cancellation of your cabin, you would lose any OBC that may have come with your cabin as well as lose any cruise planner reservations you made.  It is just a cabin change, you keep your original reservation # and you keep your cruise planner purchases and any OBC.

Back in the day when my DH was a cabin steward this was common practice on turn-around days. The stewards would actually pay other members of staff to assist them with the extra workload. It was an opportunity for some to make extra cash and alleviated what was a hugely busy day for the stewards themselves.

Solo in a JS would get you triple points. That is 12 points on a four night cruise.

Just make sure you have all the documents that you need for the friend, including, the documentation that you need from the friends parent(s) giving you permission for her to go.

I also vote that you just get extra keys to cabins and do your own switch.  As others stated, one original name on the cabin must stay on that reservation to keep the sailing price you have.

Log into the app and below "my sailings" it should have "link a missing reservation".  You would then type in the requested info to be able to link the reservation in the app.

Each cruise is separate - so seapass cards are not flagged for b2b. I've done the "hack" when I've done b2b's

When we did our crossing from Seattle into Vancouver, the border agent did not ask to see any ArriveCan information.   My mother attempted to show the agent, and was told 'I already have that'.  The real question around the ArriveCan is if people do not have it, what will the agent do at this point?

Ask at the various coffee service locations... Park Cafe, Cafe Promenade, etc.
We bought ours in the Beverage package section, precruise.

If there is a Facebook group for your sailing, or a group on these pages (usually less people here), create an event for a meet and greet for the first day.  Someone did  this on my first solo cruise this past year and I met some nice solos at the sail away meet and greet she created.  we went to the dining room and had us all seated together for dinner. We also met for trivia every morning (not a European cruise).
My next solo cruise I ran a meet and greet and it was a disaster (I’ve never met so many travel agents throwing their cards around). I was alone in the dining room and  sat 18inches away from a couple who ignored me and they barely talked to each other.  I should have asked for a table change but instead I chose to stay in that seat and hoped I made them uncomfortable!  lol (for this sailing they were not allowing shared tables, but we could sit 18” apart! Lol)
My next solo cruise I had put out in the FB group I was looking for a solo to join me at a shared table that had 3 couples.   (I had gone to the dining room when I boarded to see my table arrangement) Well one person replied and someone didn’t reply and took it upon herself to take a seat  when I showed for dinner there was no seat at MY table for me and I was moved and seated at a shared table with a family of 4 who ignored me, so I sent out an SOS in the FB group asking for anyone to join me, and a lovely older man came to my rescue and we had lovely conversation.  After dinner I spoke with the manager of the dining room about the mix up and was told to “show up earlier for dinner to get my original seat”…so I did.  They ended up adding a 9th chair too.  I enjoyed that shared table the rest of the week.

Another solo sailing it was just me and an older couple. At a table that could seat 8.  They were very nice. It’s too bad more people weren’t seated at our table.

So you can see all these sailings had different experiences.

when traveling with my 19 yo daughter we were at a shared table with an older couple   They were super nice. Someone in the FB group for that sailing sent out an SOS for someone to dine with (f/24) and I told her our stats and our table # and she joined us.  The older couple pointed out a solo gal at a table behind me and said “can we ask her too, she’s been alone a few days, at a table for 6!”…I had not seen her because she was behind my view. so we adopted her too .  So perhaps consider putting out an SOS if you find yourself dining alone and want to sit with people.

Wow, I sailed on adventure May 31.  The food in the MDR was spot on.  I had the turkey dinner and it was amazing, as well as a healthy size portion. I also had grilled fish one night and enjoyed it. Even the lasagna was good (I never care for anything on that nights menu and it’s my go to) and it was very good.
now if you want to talk horrible food my May 1 Oasis the food was not good.  Calamari was chewy, other appetizers were bad. Main dishes were lacking, turkeydark meat-( no white meat) not good. Salad drowned in dressing. Rolls as hard as a rock.  I’ve been sailing since August, this was the worst food I’ve ever had and the service was as bad. If it were my first cruise I would never go back.

I’ve no idea if the seapass card is flagged to show a B2B but on a recent sailing (not a B2B) I purchased alcohol after 3pm on the final full day and they let me walk out of the shop with it.  The same thing happened to a friend on a different ship. They said it was too late to set it up for room delivery.

We did the ArriveCAN for our Southbound Alaska cruise. No one ever asked for it or seemed to care. We did have newbie guys checking us in at the dock, who we were teaching how to process people. lol

We just got off the ship today, Oasis 7 nights and got 2 cards, one for me and one for daughter.
I got 13 mocha or caramel iced coffees and had 2 punches left. My daughter got at least 8 or 9 drinks from hers and only used maybe 6 punches... so there were cases of multiple drinks from 1 punch but never multiple punches for 1 drink! Not sure of the reason for that...
So.. we did not use up the drink cards and would be willing to send them to someone traveling Oasis in the near future. The cards have our first names on them and "OASIS" handwritten on them so they may or may not be accepted elsewhere.
Anyone interested, message me... I ll send them US mail to the first Oasis cruiser I hear from... just tell me what sailing you are on.

I was linked with my adult sons reservation. I was able to do his arrival time.  I was also able to do the healthy sail portion (which opens after NOON the day before the cruise sails)
I could also do reservations in the app with them when on board
precruise I could select them to add to any reservation I made.
each person can go to royalcarribean.com and create an account and add their reservation number to their new account. It should then show in the app. If your reservation is not showing as linked to theirs they can add your reservation number. (Link missing reservation)  it is wise they each use their own email address so they will get updated and the post cruise survey.
They can also call Crown and anchor (C&A) and sign up for a loyalty number though I hear sometimes they say you need to complete the cruise first to get the number  1 (800) 526-9723  they should have their reservation # handy.

Going under the The Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge is the highlight of the sail-away, so the higher you can get the better! Also toward the front.  We watched from the Solarium in Anthem, as Matt said, the Bridge wings are a great spot.

Even in front it can be picked…if ever stopped by someone your hand should go directly onto your Fanny pouch.  There are people who train in the art of distraction to get at the contents of all sorts of bags.
