RC just told me they are processing refunds 30 days after you cancel. I canceled March 13 so mine was processed April 14.  From there it will take 2-3 weeks to actually issue and receive the refund.  Never giving RC another penny of my money!

The workers at Royal are all liars. Like most of you I received an email on March 13, 2020 stating that my cruise for April 4th was canceled. On March 14, 2020 I called to request a full refund, and was told I will received it in 7-10 business days. On March 20, 2020 I received payment for shore excursions, and not the beverage package. I called on March 20, 2020 to speak to a representative about my beverage package not being refunded and about the cruise refund (at this point it was 7 days since I called to ask for a refund). I spoke to a supervisor and he told me the beverage package will just approved for a refund (it was was refunded on March 24th) and my cruise will be refunded by April 20, 2020, because the processing of the request took days to complete. I told him that I was expecting the refund in 7-10 days like the representative informed me, but due to the coronavirus I understand. After reading numerous posts from this site I called last week and they told me I'll have my refund by April 20, 2020. Today is April 20, 2020 and there's no refund. I called and the representative said the request was just made on April 10, 2020. I informed her of my timeline and she said the request did not process until the return date of the cruise (April 10th). I informed her that the email we received did not state that, nor did the website. I spoke to a supervisor and he basically told me he has no idea when it'll be refunded, but it will be. Many of us are trying to be empathic, but enough is enough. I've sailed with Royal 7 times and now they have lost me as a customer.

We snagged it for ~43 bucks so the cost for our entire family of four is actually less then what the cost for one person is right now ?

Just an FYI but I finally received FCC’s for one of our canceled cruises and once I did the math I realized they were both $10.00 short. Now $20 bucks no big deal, but times that by a fleet full of passengers and well!  When  I called to get them corrected the representative actually tried to give me pushback and excuses about why the base fare was different than what I was claiming. I actually had to speak to a supervisor to get it resolved.  Best wishes!  See you on the Seas!

@Dodger - I get where they are. I just got exhausted trying to make another cruise happen for my boys. We just lost my mom in October, my dad in February after caring for him and helping him die. This cruise was to be a family reset and respite. It's a major expense for us. I'm just a single mom trying to make something special happen and wish that RCI would handle things differently.
    @princevaliantus - I think you mis-read my post.

RE: Liberty of Sea Cruise March 15, 2020
RCC cancelled my cruise on March 13. I was proactive watching cruises being cancelled all around the world at that time and cancelled my cruise on March 12 - one day before RCC cancelled the cruise themselves. I was given 100% FCC on March 12. RCC offered me 125% FCC or 100% cash refund on March 13 email. I went online and took the 100% cash refund. RCC has stiffed me on that offer. RCC admitted to me over the phone 2 days ago that they ignored my online request for 100% cash refund. RCC customer service person also admitted that they never told passengers that RCC would ignore March 13 offers for passengers who cancelled one day prior. Totally wrong ! Bottom line is that I was penalized for paying attention and cancelling one day before RCC cancelled the cruise themselves. I'm done with RCC. Many folks in same situation and I'm signing up for class action suit being formulated now.

I, thankfully, don't have some of the same concerns that those who don't work from home all the time or those who have kids are facing, and I'm sorry you're having to think about these things!
I've really been wrestling in recent days with the idea of cruising. When there was talk of a bailout for cruise lines, the vitriol against the cruise companies, cruisers, and cruises was scathing. I'm honestly keeping a very small circle of people informed that I'm planning on cruising in June if my cruise goes ahead. I sadly think a lot of people who haven't taken a cruise look at it as some big luxury, and yet they don't bat an eye at folks who take any other sort of travel and book hotels or travels or ski vacations or anything like that
Bluntly, it flat-out sucks that cruisers are being seen as some privileged class who are just being careless in deciding to take their trips on what people are basically calling giant petri dishes. ?
I wish I had answers about how people will react post-cruise, but I think everybody's gonna be viewed with suspicion for a while -- though yeah, I worry cruisers are going to see additional scrutiny. ?
I wish you the best in whatever y'all decide!

Same to all the above here in Maryland.
I can't help but wonder if the liquor stores staying open (here, they're doing online/call-in order with curbside pickup) are a reaction to all the kids being home from school. ? ?

So far, Gov. Hogan of Maryland has stopped short of a shelter-in-place order, but I can't help but think (and as someone in the world of emergency management, kinda hope) that it's coming soon enough. More non-essential businesses were closed today, and of course, there's still no word on when the Cruise Maryland Terminal will re-open. I'm definitely staring down RCCL over my June cruise to Canada; I've got a July itinerary booked, too...but I really don't want to go ahead and cancel the June one because I'm inside final payment and I'd rather Royal blink first and I get the better deal.
We cruisers are a stubborn bunch!

Your FCC will be issued by the cruise fare paid by each guest and not by cabin. You mentioned that you booked under KSF so that means your child just paid taxes and fees. You will likely not get back an FCC for the kids. Just for guests who paid a cruise fare.

Voice tech is fiddly and frustrating with general-use cases, never mind specific ones like you mention. Lost track of how many times I've asked Alexa what the overnight low is supposed to be, and I get some weird dictionary definition instead of the temperature forecast. I think this kind of feature, while cool, would end up disregarded by most passengers.
I'm assuming with auto-open / close doors, you mean the kind with a motion sensor (like the exit to the pool deck), rather than a button next to the door like they have on the bathrooms. I would guess that there are regulatory, privacy, or other reasons (HVAC conservation?) that they still use the push-button you can hit with the side or back of your wrist.
Speaking of regulatory problems, I don't think they can legally force someone to buy travel insurance. Exhibit A is the Affordable Care Act, which included an insurance mandate; the Supreme Court recently called the mandate unconstitutional (a little more complex than this, but that's the end result). If the ACA, an act of federal legislation, couldn't legally include a mandate that people buy insurance, you can bet a cruise company will be sued out of doing it as well. And that's just here in the US. No idea what international law would say about that.
Clearly you haven't tasted the end result of a beverage made at the Bionic Bar. ?

@Michael B. I agree with you! We are booked on a Transatlantic from Cape Liberty to Southampton, UK, departing April 12. The entire UK is buttoned down today. The entire NY area is a "hotbed." Hotels and flights closed and canceled. I am waiting for a cancellation. I am sure they want to use my money for as long as possible-but in this economy and circumstance so do I!

I understand that they are trying to salvage as much as possible and, that they are suffering great losses...so, before everyone responds by stating the obvious, I thought I'd get that out of the way.
Now, what about us, the customers? There aren't many, if any, that would be comfortable going on a cruise in 2 or 3 weeks...and maybe not even in 2 or 3 months!
Why play games RCCL? Just cancel the cruises through at least the next month or two and work on rebuilding! For crying out loud, you've got it covered from the sound of things.
