Mrs. Thomas got a reaction from Va4fam in Oasis: Showing Age but Still Fun
Just got off Oasis on Sunday. Had a wonderful time! Tried the escargot and it was actually really good. The other food was really good too. The staff was wonderful! They were so accommodating to my dad who was in a wheelchair and understanding with my son who is neurodivergent. Even the now 16 year old had a good time. You can tell (in some spots) that the ship is 16 years old. If you wanted to list bad things, it wouldn't be hard to find something (like most things). However, you can also see that RCCL has tried to keep her in good shape and still looking good. For anyone who hasn't been on Oasis or it's just been a good while, I recommend giving her a spin. My next trip will be on something a little smaller due to the desired ports and it won't take me another 12 years.

Besides RCB, I usually listen to Tony on La Lida Loca, The Travel Scouts, and Life Well Cruised, though Ilana is a bit more high maintenance then me when it comes to packing 😂
I was talking to a friend the other week who went on Utopia the middle of this month. Before she left I told her that I watch RCB, she said she did too. It was cool. That was her first cruise and now she has "the bug". They have already booked a cruise on Star.

I told my Dad and he was repulsed by the idea. I was always afraid to try sushi. I started safe at first and then got bolder. I love it now. I think if you get out of your head thinking about what it is, then you're good.

Mrs. Thomas reacted to RCIfan1912 in Itinerary change Oasis May 2026
This is not a big deal to me at all because I there isn't a ton to do in Port Canaveral and really nothing in walking distance. We just booked Oasis next May 22 2026 to Coco Cay and due to a birthing issue we have extra day at sea and no Port Canaveral. Again no issue to me at all. I love sea days. 🤣 Extra Oasis sea days yes please! I wish we could skip Nassau and do 2 days at Coco Cay. 🤣

Mrs. Thomas reacted to rjac in Nice surprises we found on the Icon OTS last week (3/22 - 3/29)
The Miami Terminal (our first time out of Miami) was impressive. New, clean and organized. Upon debarkation, our luggage was easily located thanks to the LARGE numbered signs. Our check in time was 12:00 (noon) and we showed up at 10:45 am in spite of all the texts and emails saying not to show up early. We had Express Check In on our Sea Pass paperwork and just breezed through the terminal and was on the ship in about 15 minutes. more bars and places to eat/get snacks that we could handle in just 7 days! The Park Cafe on deck 8 had the delicious Kummelweck sandwiches every day. Word of caution, they no longer use the one hand hold buns. The buns are now a definite two hand grip loaded with roast beef! Elevators, remember on all of the prior Royal cruise ships that had elevators towards the bow, center and aft of the ship? That had those buttons you had to select which flow you wanted? That many times kids would push all the floor buttons so you got an extended elevator ride and eventually got to your floor? Not so on the Icon. Elevator stations at the bow and aft, no buttons to push inside the elevator. Elevators are marked A-I and there are multiple key pads at each station where you push the floor number you want and an alphabetical letter is displayed. You go to that letter and within 30 seconds your elevator arrives for everyone going to the same floor you selected. GREAT feature! Great entertainment, book as early as you can. I recommend booking the Aqua Show twice, fantastic. There is an escalator on deck 5 that takes you to deck 2 (gangway) on port days. On Embarkation day and on Day 6, the Windjammer has a Seafood Station. All the shrimp, crab legs, calamari, lobster tails (yeah, Maine lobster tails that have been steamed not boiled) you can eat. And at the back of the Windjammer they have a Gluten Free Station (very considerate). 😎

I get it at least twice every cruise. Finally got my wife and daughter to try it. They were shocked that it was good. lol. I tried it when I was 12 as a joke and have been hooked ever since.

Mrs. Thomas reacted to USCG Teacher in Rising Tide Bar
Oddly enough, Rising Tide is one of my kids' favorite things to do to wrap the day up. They loved hopping on in Central Park with us, grabbing a Shirley Temple on the way down, then grabbing a slice at Sorrento's before heading up to bed. Something about people watching as they're slowing riding down into the promenade just really tickled them. 🤷♂️

We like it too! One of those "where else but on a cruise" moments, like standing in the ice cream cone line eating an ice cream cone.

The shape of it reminds me of Jabba’s sailing barge in ROTJ. For that reason alone I’d 100% want to go on it 🤓

No. Young adults. They just really like fried chicken, chicken fingers, and pizza. They rarely do seafood, but then again, Matt rarely does seafood.
I am an equal opportunity eater. I eat everything without discriminating. Doesn't mean I like everything, just will to try.

Oh nice! Yeah, we also did that in Miami last time. They had a shuttle, so we dropped it off and jumped on the shuttle van!

Mrs. Thomas got a reaction from Gilley in Rising Tide Bar
The hubby and I did the Rising Tide on Allure. I expected more of an elevator feel while going up, but I barely felt it move. It was cool and the bartender was very nice. Our cabin was on 8 so it worked out. Unless you just like that bar, it kinda is just a one and done thing just so you can say you did it.
