  1. So then to bring it back to the topic of this post.......who cares if the crew is vaccinated??!...they can still get Covid, the can still give Covid, spread Covid, get sick from Covid,...and we will still need to wear masks, quarantine and social distance.?

Boy, makes a great case for this vaccine.......and doesn't give me much hope for anything opening or returning to normal anytime soon...I may have to rethink my predictions now to 2023 based on all these facts i have been presented here..lol

Yes, you can still get it. But, even in Canada, the vaccine prevents severe disease.  If it eliminates severe disease then it's a positive thing.  Even in Canada.

You state..."yes, you can still get it"........well hello....if you can still get it after being vaccinated, that's the whole problem...no??!...what the hell am I missing ppl.

I am not a doctor..but the top doctor in Canada who controls us tells this....(your equivalent of Dr. Facui)

I am quoting her word for word,,,,,,I can post links here if noone believes me.....I don't get it....

masks, social distancing and you can still give it and get it after being vaccinated...all facts according to Canada.....

So I base all my comments and thoughts around Covid and the impact based on what the top Doctor in Canada tells us everyday on the news.....we are not going to be able to travel or leave the country without quarantining even once vaccinated we have been told....at  least for the near future.

Why do you think Canada is blocking cruise ships till at least Feb 2022...everyone in Canada is supposed to be vaccinated by Sept of 2021??...hmmmm

Everything I have posted above is FACT......anyone can PM me for direct links and quotes but please don't accuse me of not knowing what I am talking about or I am wrong....

  3. Thats INSANE..I have never heard that in over 2 decades of flying..cant imagine that's the norm..or perhaps it was a strange season......although out of Toronto flights are much cheaper than here on the east coast..it costs more for me just to fly to toronto than the whole cost of most of my cruises...and I can't cruise form Toronto so....

The US dollar also being worth 30-40% more helps as well for you guys....

  4. I thought that boarding would START at 2pm(i will never be star class or have a Genie) and assumed it would be staggered.....so everyone just gets on at 2pm now? That seems counter-productive for what they are aiming to do.

I was always on at 11am ...pretty sure there were times even when it started prior to that....I am sure that with Cvoid protocols between deep cleaning before turnaround and keeping everyone 6 feet apart in the terminal and while boarding(I cant imagine what a zoo it will be) that sail times will be delayed to allow for all of this.

I am guessing many will not board  till 5pm or later.....so in that case, half the first day is lost.

That will be the new norm with sailing ....I am pretty confident in this. Time will tell.

  5. Not surprised...although the vaccines doesn't prevent you from getting it or giving it to someone so I am not sure what the point is really.

Vaccine cards/passport will be the norm in the next couple years...for flying, cruising, hotels stays concert events etc...

That's my next prediction of what will come next from this pandemic......you can take this prediction to the bank too!!

  6. There is no tourism travel allowed across land borders..only air....so this rule doesn't affect most of us here.

Could it effect essential workers...i hope not as its getting worse and worse with all the rules and regulations for them.

Air Canada just cancelled many more routes and laid off hundreds more. We hardly have no air service  left, no cruising allowed till 2022 and now land crossings are even harder for those who are "Allowed" to cross it...so we can eat and not starve to death.

We are going backwards....way backwards with this. If anyone thinks we are closer to travel again....think again!!! AND they aren't coming up with all these rules and tests and regulations and forced quarantine camps for a cpl days or weeks....we are still talking in terms or months if not years.

What do you all think of the possibility of going June 12th-19th? This is my 4th reschedule.

I would say it will be your fifth reschedule. Not likely as most Royal cruises are cancelled officially to May. That is like the 6 or 7th time they have delayed the date. And then even if they do get the green light from the CDC,  there will be a process to start up with test cruising and protocols.

I am not optimistic at all about my November cruise so...

I don't think transmission was tested for the Phizer vaccine but I thought AsrtraZeneca was claiming their vaccine was effective at reducing spread.  That claim is in question because there is no proof for any current vaccine (that they reduce spread) but there is hope that will be proven now that they are being used in the real world.

So if the health minister has proof they don't reduce spread that would be interesting to see.  I suspect officials are saying it so people don't let their guard down and stop other protocols which could cause the unvaccinated to follow suit.

Yeah, seems to be conflicting reports and studies..but as of Friday, Feb5 she stated that when asking about options for travelers who are vaccinated......and we all have to listen to her in Canada so it aint promising for anything changing anytime soon north of the border...

  9. Love the Portland Jetport.....so easy to get in and out of....and lots of options...its our preferred airport for flying south.....usually stay in the Cumberland Mills area as lots of hotels and restaurants and shuttle options.

Its cheaper for us to drive 6 hrs and pay for a hotel to fly out of Portland than it is from Canada......

Flights to Florida right now for us would be over 13 hrs of flying.....3 different planes and almost $1000....

I have been tested and have been vaccinated and since i do not have the virus there is no way I can pass on the virus. I will not wear a mask anymore.

According to our health minister you can still get covid and give coivd even when vaccinated..hence no let up in lock downs or social distancing for months or years in Canada.....

Crazy and silly I know....will be interesting to hear what the CDC or Fauci says about that.

The cost of flights for my December sailing is looking to exceed the cost of the cruise.  I'd rather take two cruises from Florida once it reopens over one cruise and an expensive flight.   Will a family of four be willing to add several thousand to the cruise cost for airfare?

Is that not normal? I don't think I have ever had a cheaper flight than my cruise??!..Oh right....I live in Canada..... ?

But I think it would be much easier for the cruise lines to wait for the US to open back up again, but perhaps for future versions of Covid they should think about a back up plan as a I am pretty sure a precedent has been set with shutting down travel for viruses now.

  12. Interesting....and I am actually surprised more haven't thought about this...although i am sure the logistics of doing something like that is huge and of course we keep hoping its just another  month or two and we can start getting back to normal so why look into adding/changing home ports.

But we all know this isnt going away anytime soon and god help cruising  if Covid-20 ever comes along....?

  13. Canadian airlines are notoriously horrible...for service, pricing, options, etc. I try to NEVER fly with a Canadian airline.

I had flights with Air Allegiant and United and they were both great and easy to deal with for a full refund.

I have lost hundreds of dollars with AC in the past with vouchers and make sure I let everyone I know when I travel not to ever choose AC and how much better and easier and cheaper it is to fly with an American airline if you can.

You can always go on an Oasis class ship and you can book an Owner and Grand Panoramic Suite or an Royal Loft Suite which have whirlpools and you don't have to wear a mask since you are in your stateroom.

True, good point actually...but I need to win the lottery for that to happen....
